HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone!!!
I am thankful meal prep is well under way.

pies done
celery & onions cooked
sausage for stuffing & bread cut up.

Swept drive way spiffed up the carport a bit that was a hit.

We have had two power surges this morning heard a transformer go that sounded like a 4th of July firework.

Thw worst turkey day we had was broke down when we were long haul trucking stranded at a truck stop and had tv dinners for our main meal.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I am grateful for my JOB, and for the INSURANCE card I just received. This morning, I slept late, but woke before the alarm at 10:40. Got a call from a good friend who lives here, but goes to FL for Thanksgiving. Five minute pickup in master bath accomplished. I leave in 30 minutes for lunch. I will get some sewing done before that. After lunch, I must go back to the grocery store, forgot onion last night. I did get everything else I needed and went to the library.

After lunch the plan is: cook, clean, email catchup, determine a schedule for the church website work. In the evening, I would like to get some sewing done. My long commute has given me lots of crochet time, but I can't take my sewing machine on the train!

helia: I took the SAT and ACT in 1985, 29 years ago. I'm 50 now. I sincerely hope they NEVER get rid of standardized tests, I kick butt on them! Essays, not so much. Essays depend so much on teacher/grader opinion that it was always the popular kids getting the As and the less gregarious, nerdy kids getting the Cs. (Or maybe we were just not that good at essays, either way, I like the 'dot tests' better).

Just got a call from one of my dining companions - I will be leaving at 1245. More time for sewing, but I'm beginning to get a low blood sugar headache. Note to self: get up earlier and eat breakfast.

Yeah, Elizabeth, I agree - it seems schools need some sort of standardized something to sift through the applicants. Now, there is an essay on the ACT. Maybe on the SAT too -- I can't remember now. Most schools require the essay and there is an alternate score influenced by the essay. Maybe now that is the official score. . .

We're setting the table. The turkey cooked faster than expected. Everyone pitched in with cooking so we're almost ready to eat!

I'm thankful for this village and for my family. Speaking of family, I might call my parents this afternoon.

I am thankful we did not loose power like the neighbors behind us did. I think is was after their turkey was done.

Ours was great h loved the stuffing it was all good!

I worked more on the carport got freash straw bedding down for the chickens they are very happy with my efforts.

Dishes are going food is put away.

I put the Christmas lights up in the window after figuring out a 'make do' solution to the 1/3 of each string that wasn't working. Did that while on the phone with a friend so didn't lose much time to the lights. Unfortunately, the 5 suction cups I have are working so went out and bought 36 more from the dollar store. They aren't working. They are junk and won't hold for more than a minute. No return policy. Sigh.

Will have to look for ones I can return tomorrow at a proper store and suck up the $34 these stupid lights have cost me so far (I had to buy the light repair tool which only got one of the four non-functioning sections working.)

I don't like how the lights are now (they are along the bottom of the window) but wanted to do 'proof of concept.' So dh and I went out for dinner and checked them out from the road on the way home. We could see them fine but they'll look better when hung along the top of the window (right now they look like desk lamps.) Still have to decorate the windows on the other side of the apartment.

Spent way too much at the dollar store (which is a $1.25 store) but got a longer bottle brush, something the real $1 store doesn't have. Also bought Christmas burner covers and some sink stoppers for 1) when we are traveling, 2) dh's stinky drain and 3) the laundry tub in the elevator lobby which doesn't have a stopper. One of our travel ones went missing a while ago but we didn't notice until during the next trip and the other one we had was old and no longer flexible.

No other progress at all here. Sigh. Will try and get to bed in an hour. We've been going to bed far too late lately. Dh will be gone for the next 5 nights so hopefully I'll catch up on my sleep.

Hello everyone! I'm hoping everyone has had a pleasant day with family and friends, or, even if it is not your Thanksgiving, a wonderful normal day!

We are back home and settled in for the night after spending most of the afternoon and evening with dfam#2. It was a very nice visit and the food was good, a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings. We brought a pumpkin pie and a chocolate pie and whipped cream for topping. Dson had to work till 4pm and dinner was ready about that time, so we started without him and he caught up when he arrived home. He didn't mind because W-M always has a holiday meal for those who are scheduled for work and he had a big meal at his lunchtime.

Ddil sent us home with turkey and corn casserole for another meal tomorrow. As soon as we got home tonight I fed our dogs and let them out and in a couple of times. Ds#3 called to say hi and we got to talk to dgs13 ( 13 as of yesterday!) and dgd17 also. It has been a long day and I'm ready to settle under the covers for the night!

THE SEAHAWKS WON! WOOHOO!!!!

We had a GR8 dinner, about 2 p.m., then visited all afternoon, into the evening. DH fixed pumpkin pie for DD, DGS, and himself. I held out until later, after a yogurt dinner, this evening, for my dessert.

DD loved my new "Fly-Away" cardigan. She has one, too, but won't wear it because the shorter back, long flapping-in-the-breeze fronts "bug" her. Her's is XL, from Goodwill, in aqua and white stripes- which she's giving to ME! I gave her 2 pairs of pajamas and 1 pair of fleece lounge bottoms, to have.

We loaded them up with groceries, to see them through until payday and with leftovers, too. They left around 5 p.m.

DH ran the DW, he's watching a bit of "O' Brother Where Art Thou," until he finds something to watch. All these channels, like over 250 and he CAN'T find anything????

Hello SHE friends. I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving today. I'm thankful for this village and for every one of you.

Feline Friend, thanks for bringing up a funny memory for me with your post about your dh watching the movie "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?" Our dcat was a young dkitten then, & had developed a fascination with the way the faucet would drip in our bathtub after a shower. We were watching that movie one night, at the part where the characters were singing & called their band "The Soggy Bottom Boys". Just then dkitten jumped up on the couch with us, & his backside, feet & the entire length of the underside of his tail was wet from sitting in the tub. We started calling him our soggy bottom boy & did for years. He still likes to watch (& drink) water coming out of the tub faucet.
