Saturday Successes

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

Good morning SHEville!

I'm here much too early for me (I turned out the light at 12:40) but I woke up at 7 and couldn't get back to sleep.

I'm hoping for a number of successes today and I'm sure a lot of you have things to get done that will help you feel accomplished. Use this space to keep on track today.

I'm out most of the day so won't get much done around here but I'm hoping for the following:

1. Christmas lights properly up in the windows (at least the living room) and the timer programmed and installed so that they'll be on when I get home tonight
2. General tidy (it is awfully messy here)
3. At least one zone chore done. Ideally, scrubbing the kitchen floor
4. Print of the bulletin for tomorrow night, pick up the music CDs for the hymns tomorrow at the seniors' home since dh isn't with me to play them on the guitar
5. Finish decorating the sanctuary
6. Choir practice
7. An overdue visit with my senior friend
8. Buy more suction cups (there's a store in the market village I can try - the city has too many people chasing too little stock)
9. Buy a gift for the church musician
10. Call someone to see if the poinsettias have been bought for the sanctuary
11. Update quicken and pay bills'
12. Finish the service for tomorrow.

Somewhere in there I have to walk between 5 - 10K steps. I'll spend some time on the treadmill in order to bump up my step count while either watching an episode of tv or surfing the internet.

Now I need to finish my breakfast and get the day started by s2s. The bed is made but I'm still not showered. The neighbour who visited on Wednesday night gave us a tip on how to use the shower without it going scald/freeze and it worked on Thursday for me so I'll try it again today. In the meantime, I won't get swimming. That I'm putting off until tomorrow.

Good morning, villagers ~
What wonderful check-ins from you all yesterday! It looks like everyone had a productive day doing exactly what they wanted to do.

DH stayed in his mancave downstairs all day except for meals. Normally we would have gone out for lunch, but we had DSis's to-go dishes of leftovers and I think DH liked being able to stay away from people for a whole day. He watched tv (a lot of comedies because I could hear him laughing) and did stuff on his computer.

I took the day off, too, the only chores I did were cooking and washing dishes. Other than that, I read some blogs, watched a camping video on youtube, read a book, and last night watched a little tv. I did get dressed, but not in clothes I would ever wear in public. ;)

I slept really well last night for a change, and the cat even let me sleep late this morning. I think I'm energized enough today to dig into a major declutter session. It looks like we will get some sun this morning, and that will be a big help.

Good morning to the village! Last night I ended up gathering up some of the fall decor items and putting out some winter/hannukah items. I'd like to get down the box for winter/hanukah from the top of the garage and put away the fall/autumn boxes later today. Dmacs has PT this morning at 11 - his usual appointment, and we may invite friends over this evening for dinner - dh picked up steaks at Costco yesterday.

Need to get moving to get ready for Macs' PT.

I've s2s. And I've practiced the anthems. I've given up on learning the alto lines. I just can't get the rhythm right nor find my notes. I'll join the altos when I can (especially when they have a section all to themselves) and then pop back over to the lead. They'll put me between the two groups so my voice will blend either way.

Dh's roomie Tim called here looking for dh. He needed the apartment code to get inside and thought he was calling dh's mobile. I gave him that and then emailed dh to let him know that Tim needed into the building. I wasn't sure dh's mobile would work there but apparently it does.

Now to hang lights. Or at least try to hand lights.

Good morning! I am up and drinking tea after finishing a hard Sudoku first things this a.m. Priorities, priorities. :) I did put away laundry that had been sitting on our cedar chest.

Dh and I renewed our membership at the gym yesterday. Actually, I think he got a new membership; he hasn't been a member there for a couple years as he runs outside all year long. He's wanting to add a bit of weight training to his regime.

Ds and I watched Maleficent last night. It was enjoyable, but I was glad I hadn't spent $ to see it in a theater. I was interested in seeing A. Jolie and her young daughter. As a bonus, I found HP's Dolores Umbridge in the cast too. LOL! :)

Dd16's overnight friend has left.

Dfriend S2 has cancelled dd19's babysitting for small group tonight - but has not let small group know what is going on. She never responded to my email yesterday. *sigh* She's wonderful in so many ways, but communication is not her forte'. I would assume that the small group movie night is not happening after all. I'll try to check with her today.

So, now I'm ready to start the day at 10:20.

I'm off to s2s.

Good morning! (hmmm... yep... still morning here in CST for about 25 more minutes!)
I've eaten breakfast, taken my vitamins and some cough syrup -- I've been fighting a cough forever, and finally gave in and decided to start taking some medicine for it. I hate cough syrups, but this one doesn't taste too bad.
Also took dgs's car seat out of the SUV so ds will have more room on the ride to the ballgame. Dniece backed out, dbil said. She thinks we don't have a chance. Yesterday at the funeral, one of dh's cousin's told him we don't have a chance "in H - - - ." * sigh * They are probably right but dh, ds, and dbil will trudge on and cheer our team on anyway.
DH has not missed one of these in-state rivalry games since he was 5 years old. This is his 58th consecutive. He's seen us win when the odds were just as much stacked against us, and he's seen us lose by terrible margins, too... so, he's kinda stoic about it, I guess you could say.

My plans for the day...
Same as last night. Yeah, I didn't do any of that stuff I mentioned last night. We ended up going to see Dumb and Dumber 2. It was dumb. And pretty gross. Of course, it's not like we were surprised. We are dumb and dumber too, I guess, b/c we saw the first one too.  I'm not saying we didn't LOL occasionally, but still -- lots of "yuck" moments. Horrible Bosses 2 is pretty gross/vulgar humor in some places (Jennifer Anniston's character is really, really... well... raunchy) but it's a better movie. Maybe I just like Jason Bateman better than Jim Carrey.
Anyway, I'm sure Maleficent was a MUCH better movie than either of these two, and I have not seen it yet.

So -- 5x5? * correction -- 6x6!
[ ] s2s, exercise, Bible
[ ] change sheets
[ ] download pictures
[ ] dust
[ ] put up tree and candles in windows
-- I want to have the lights on at least when dh/ds return. No matter how the game goes, that will make them smile a little bit.
[ ] go to CVS

Waving to everyone!!! Hope y'all have a great day!!!
Tomorrow is another day.

Morning y'all...

Just peekin' in. Wanted to let Lucylee know my son certainly doesn't think today's game is a shoein. In fact he's the first one to say anything can happen. I have my red shirt on and will watchin' with you Lucy. At least one of us will be happy at the end of the game... Won't know till then ;-)

Y'all have a great day. :D
