Saturday Something

Post by Emptynester »

It is Saturday - Let's make it what we need.

Yesterday, I got the dishes done and a shower and that is about all. Went to PT and she worked my knees along with my ankles and did a lot of core exercises for my back.

Then I came home and slept, and slept, and slept. Woke up about dinner time and finished the potato soup that DH had started.

Then I slept all night.

I'm a bit sore this morning but not enough that a hot shower won't cure. Time to make the cookies. (Remember that old commercial about "Time to make the donuts"?)

Catch ya all later.

sounds good to me!!!

for me today: I want Energy

I looked up the word Energy because I needed to give myself a pep talk as I worked.

The words that came up surprised me
Of course there was efficiency -effectiveness (which in my old days these words wouldn't be inspirational)

but other words come across
power
SPIRIT -
Strength
Activity
drive
pluck
fortitude
endurance
and even pizzazz

- so I am using these words to give me a positive to start my day

Today I wish you all a very special day.

I love that our Saturday, dear Dee, is to let it be what ever we want it to be. Thank you!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Think I missed yesterday altogether! Sure I didn't post or read either. Had an 'off' day all the way around. I was barely on speaking terms with dh most of the day and was in a rather foul mood all day. Glad that doesn't happen very often -maybe once in 10 years?

Everyone was gone when I finally crawled out this morning -dd to get her oil changed and the 'boys' to the flea market. See dd has the needed items out to start the cookie making -you're right, MT, time to make the donuts -uh COOKIES. DD is wishing for dsonil to go to Tarpon Springs with a special order SOON so he can pick up a small chest freezer. Would be so nice for baking. At home we had a natural 'deep freeze' just off our patio door (most years). Had a small temporary lean to for wood and it made a wonderful extra fridge.

Dh and I have to do a reading and light the advent wreath tomorrow at church. Guess I'd better go over the reading that I'll do. Dh will do the lighting.

Have to call our church moderator up home to see what she wants to do for the Budget meeting tomorrow. It's okay with me if they want to have someone take notes. It's always a very brief meeting. Might be easier than trying to be in contact via Skype when it's a different church to boot.

Thanks for the adaptable title for today, MT. Mmmmm.... cookies.
I like the idea of energy today too, blessed.
good morning Dee! Did you and dh get it workedout? ((HUGS))

Dh got home safely last night. He was tired - and was up early this morning. He is now distracted trying to fit together a work-related meeting in France with his next trip to NL to go through his father's things with his sisters. The schedules are not meshing well. . . Dh has spoken with one sister this morning and tried to talk to another, but she wasn't home. Or wasn't answering her phone.

I've been up for almost 1.5 hours but haven't done much. I have had bfast, chatted with dh, sent some emails.

For me, Saturday is Sunday School (for adults - not kids) Lesson Day. I need to finish my plans, have a handout, practice speaking bits.

I have 2 main goals for today:
- finish SS lesson
- meet with mentee at 1:30

I have other smaller goals, but those are the big ones.

My immediate goals are:
- s2s and self-care
- start laundry, now that I have all of dh's from the past week
- QT

I need to do something. I guess Christmas cards once I've had breakfast and s2s.

It is a shower day for me. Dh and I got off-schedule (no biggie now that we are using two bathrooms) and I'm still waiting for him to shower before I start mine. Duh....

Aside from the piles of papers and files everywhere, the apartment looks good!

I've sent out an email proposing 3 days for the tree trimming party. We'll see if the kids are interested. It won't take long, probably 2.5 hours in total and I'll give dd and dsil a drive home to save on their bus time. But they may choose to pass and that's ok as well.

Dh says the weathe will get warmer next week so I need to have a plan for getting the bikes off the balcony. With the pram moved to ds's, there's room for my bike behind the treadmill. Ds will have to take his bike to his place. Lots of room for it there and he can even put it on his balcony if he wants. I've blocked the balcony door here with furniture so getting the backs off the balcony won't be simple but it is doable.

I need to buy more bungee cords to lock down the rest of the balcony furniture. The tables have to be put on their sides because they aren't designed to take the snow load. The few bungee cords we had on the chairs broke and dd pointed out I should buy good ones. I pointed out that they had been through at least 5 winters on the deck and balcony at the house so I'll keep buying dollar store ones, thank you very much.

Off to have my breakfast quickly and then get moving.

Dinner tonight is the Christmas party at the retirement home so we just have a long drive but don't have to bring food or work at all. Yay!

"Sort of", Helia but he hasn't said anything about my solution but I'm sure he will by tonight. A 'tiff' in our lives usually is short-lived and quickly forgotten/forgiven. :D

Dh has gone to Torah study and our house guest has gone to services at the other synagogue. He will be taken out for lunch and return here this afternoon. I think he wants to go to a local urban festival later this afternoon so he will ck in with us; he may go alone or dh and/or I may go. DH and I will go to a client's open house early evening, then on to a very large swanky holiday party that is black tie optional. I am dressing down a bit - black ankle pants that have subtle dot pattern with a black textured brocade top with flats. Costume jewelry to dress it up a bit.

Dh will want to be home to watch at least some of the FL state game that starts at 8 p.m. - the second party doesn't start until 8:30 so we won't stay long at the second party. "See and be seen."

Otherwise, dMacs has his usual PT this morning, and I need to start getting ready to head out.

Looking at my schedule for the week, I think I need to go see my sister on Monday of this week. Every other day has something else going on that would make it imperative for me to be back in the early evening and I don't want that kind of pressure. I could blow off stamp camp and getting meals to dmom on Thursday but would probably be best to stay on schedule with mom. Have temple meeting at 5:30 Tuesday, a neighborhood holiday party on Wednesday p.m., stamp camp and seeing mom on Thursday and another holiday party (for dh's work place) on Friday evening.

Glad that MT had physical therapy already on her schedule to help work out the aches and pains from the fall. Hope you're feeling better today!

Thanks for all the good wishes on my owies. I am feeling better this morning. Did some stretches this morning in the shower and now have my boot and good shoe on. Dishes are done and kitchen table is almost cleaned off. We had "stored" key holder and other stuff there while putting in the new door.

DH is being super dense this morning on what I need done. He is wanting to do things that don't need doing vs things that need to be done before Christmas. Sheeeeeesh!!!! He is picking up the garage and putting things on the new shelves he installed. He is also putting things in the car trunk for GW. The only problem is that he was going to give away my big jar of misc. hardware. It contains all the hardware I have left over from projects and have found all because there were 4 mini-blind holders in there to go with the mini-blinds we are donating. He couldn't understand why I was upset. BTW - all of my screwdrivers have walked out of my kitchen drawer and I found 2 on the floor of the garage.

Time to get moving again.
