Re: First Monday of a new year
I like that: First Monday of the year!!! And Happy New First Monday to all of you!
Thank you all for helping me as I try to figure out how to store and use things; as well as, renewing my card file for the new Year.
I am thinking with a cluttered mind, (and too deeply), regarding my desk area and all that misc. stuff. that I don't have a place for (yet!) I think I am going to put like things together on the rug in the basement first (only 15 minutes)
I found out d kids are coming home today! today not tomorrow - how I get these things wrong makes me laugh. So my focus has changed.
I had planned on working in desk area and upstairs but now it looks like I need to get my laundry that is folded in its place and get rid of some things from dd youngers room when family was here. dd youngers room was too convenient. I just closed the door and pretended I didn't have to do a put away from visitors. (Yes I am a true she)
so today is:
1 laundry put away
2 room to room put away and vacuum (again)
3 dd youngers room ... put visitor supplies away and vacuum room
4 bathrooms that I can do

Re: First Monday of a new year
I have gotten up to a much warmer day here 48* we have already surpased the hi forecast for today. Snow in the front is nearly gone roads are clear. Hens are happy I tossed them the apple peels. Got the apples in the freezer to flash freeze. Tomorrow we will make up hand pies when grands are here. I spiffed the kitchen counter a bit and vacuumed a traffic zone in lr.
Journal done.
I need to get clothes out of dryer and fold those.
Snow delays north of us for the first day back from winter break. Air travel delays as well and in Mont. Winter storm warning is up.
Slept well and slept in a bit slow start today but I did some stuff last night so that helped!

Re: First Monday of a new year
I've done one load of laundry and the second just buzzed. Continued tidying. Bed is remade with fresh sheets. I've s2s. I'm on the treadmill now and will stop when I get to a mile. I had forgotten to put on the heart rate monitor but went and put it on when I realized. I'm not strong enough to get my rate over 70% but am solidly in the 60 - 70% range which is fine. I have a cold so I'm not about to push things today.
Harriet will be pleased that the treadmill encourages me to drink more water. I start with a quart each day and often refill it depending on how often I get on it.
It is 0*F outside so we are not likely to go for a walk, although errands are in my future. They can be put off until tomorrow though.
I desperately need to vacuum but will take a break after the treadmill before I start to do that. Too much cardio might get me coughing again. I took a decongestant and the coughing has abated for now and I don't want to reverse that. The sore throat from this morning (you know the feeling - like swallowing razor blades) has not returned although the advil will have worn off by now. Dh wanted to take me to the doctor but I pointed out it is a cold and not strep unless the sore throat lasts days. Which it hasn't.

Re: First Monday of a new year
We have a grey day here and possibly some rain earlier and appears more to come. That's good, it's been dry here. And the grey is easy on the eyes after so much sun. I like a day or two of clouds, especially in Winter where it seems to fit the season, and has a calming effect; after a couple days I'm outside looking up, "where's the sun".
Got a good start to the day / week / year here. First thing, I was off to the dr. to get results of lab work done just days after the holidays. Everything was within range except for cholesterol which was up a bit. She said to "tighten that up" which means to get a grip on my love affair with butter and cheese.
Went to post office and got all that tax work off to the government and employees and that is a huge accomplishment and now off my mind. I guess I'll do some cleaning around here, maybe a little desk work, but first I need to get the crock pot loaded with dinner. Should have done it earlier but I guess I'll just run it on high for a couple hours.

Re: First Monday of a new year
Hello dear ladies,
FRIGID COLD HERE.
We have a gate with a padlock in front of our driveway and yesterday DH had to cut the padlock to get out. It was froze shut. Went to walmart and got a weather proof one.
Feeling a bit better today. My body hurts from not doing enough and so I'm doing baby steps today. Working on laundry. Stripped the bed and got the sheets in first.
DH woke up with some kind of hip pain. Is using an extendable walking cane for now but seems to be in pain. I know he has a full day of stuff to do. Might have to work in a doctor's visit too. Maybe we'll see how his new insurance is going to be real soon.
Dson who works at WM is doing some long days there. Worked three 12 hours days and then 4 hours for Tuesday and then he is done for the week. Don't think I could do that, would rather work a few hours everyday.
NC-son is doing ok too. Cosco is slow, like all stores are in January so his hours have been cut. He and room mates are going over their finances and think they will be alright.
And we have some prowlers around here.
One Dson saw a man with a shotgun riding a lawn mower through some neighboring fields and finally got bogged down in the mud. Police arrested the man for stealing the mower and took a statement from Dson. The man is a repeat criminal and his parents live somewhere near us. He goes around looking for things to steal or places to hide while he uses drugs. We noticed our cars had been messed with and we found a hypodermic needle out here one morning. He is in jail but has a buddy that pals around with him through his activities so will still have to make sure all things are locked down well at night time. This is new to us, we live in rural but nice area, crime can happen anywhere.
Off to use my pulley, shower ,make up my bed and work on laundry.

Re: First Monday of a new year
oh my goodness dear Sadie... how did the criminal think he wouldn't be noticed - a shot gun and riding a lawn mower over other peoples land... amazing. I am praying he gets off drugs soon though.
Lots of hours for your d sons!
Happy day d twins
Happy day d Cathy
you have had a busy day already d harmony - happy day to you
d kathryn how nice to have a cozy clean bed to go to tonight.. good job on all you do!
d Nancy.. your weather sounds lovely
d Harriet ((stress in your back))) hope if feels better fast
d twins happiest of birthday's to your dear mom
hi d book! stay safe in the snow. I am using your 12 x 12 x 12 cube for put away - as it fills I am putting it away right away
- it's hard for me to get past not using a basket and waiting until it is full (which means it stays full until I feel like putting stuff away - it can be a week or more
... I really like this - I was in dd youngers room and when the cube filled - I automatically put those things away in other areas.
Thank you
.
d virtuous Helia hello
d elizabeth have a good meeting
hi d mt hello
hello to anyone I missed!
dd youngers bedroom is back to normal... except now all comforters, bedding that needs washing, and misc. are now in hallway and/or on stairs - I pulled the plastic coverings to wrap things up again. They didn't use all the extras.. small shampoo's, toothpaste etc. so I put those things back into the wire - see through drawer in upstairs hall closet for guests or travel. they left an adapter but I tossed it because it is too expensive to send back for what it cost them to buy it.
dd's are flying back tonight and with the winter storm warnings they have, already, been delayed.
It will be what it will be.
Today I am also using Peter Walsh's 31 day challenge. Today is 10 minutes of folding laundry and then putting it away right away. I have clean laundry in my closet (yes a stash away from the holidays) that needs to be folded and put away.

Re: First Monday of a new year
((Sadie)) I hope that now that police are aware of the bogged-down lawnmower fellow near you, he will feel uneasy about crimes in your area. My uncle and aunt were once awakened by the sound of a vehicle going past the rear of their house - and they don't have a road behind their house. Eventually, there was a splash, and drunken voices, one male and one female, fussing at each other after driving their car into a pond.
Good grief. Police, wrecker, lots of firemen trying to figure out what to do to extract car, hoisting it across a distance and then through the back yard the way it came. But at least police felt their had been no criminal intent, just drunken confusion.
I have decided on Focus record-keeping using the Task Tracker I linked in Organization and Simplification. I'm enjoying bubbling-in my 15s.

Re: First Monday of a new year
Vacuuming is done. Plants are watered. Still need to refill the vitamin container and refill the water bowls through the house but may take a rest first. Nearly fell asleep on the couch so at least watered the plants since that is a chore that has to be done during daylight hours.
Haven't planned dinner. Probably chicken pieces since that's simple.
There's another routine I'd like to get back - meal planning.
