I just now got back to read a page Nov 21, I had missed during busy times.

Loved this quote from lucylee:

So again, 3x5s to the rescue!

:D

Emptynester, I also wanted to ask you about your experience learning from kidney dr, since HRH is having to go to one regularly now. You said low blood pressure had possibly not been good for dh's kidneys. That is so interesting, since HRH has been given a bp med for evening to lower his bp through the night so it won't be too high for best kidney health. But what I wanted to ask: you had said
from taking Advil and Aleve vs non-aspirin medications
and I wanted to ask do you mean aspirin meds would be a better choice for kidney health?

Dd is at her small group Bible study. Dstepson was here and helped winterize the henhouse further, new light bulb for wellhouse, etc. We had tacos, HRH's vegetarian kind. Front door blew open and scared me - so windy, so cold. One more 15 done.

* whew * Don't know how "wonderful" it has been... more like woe is me... -- but I shouldn't even THINK that, considering the chaos in France tonight, and in so many parts of the world. I am truly blessed here, and it IS a wonderful day for me.
DDil sent message that she and dgs were safely at her parents around 8:00 a.m. Can y'all believe that? She went to a ballgame, 2 hours each way, w/dh and ds, last night... got home about 12:30 a.m., and turned right around and drove back the same route, plus about 4 hours, to her parents. One side of her family put off Christmas until this weekend, but ds got an offer to work w/a different band this weekend, so he went in one direction and she and dgs went in the other. He left about 6:00 a.m., I guess, and we haven't heard from him, but he isn't alone, so I guess no news is no news, even though I wonder if he will run into any snow/ice.
Buses here are delayed 2 hours tomorrow & Friday. Sooo glad I no longer have to think about THAT.

:D :D :D Happy birthday, Lynlee!!! :D :D :D

I am halfway through with the ironing. * sheesh * This is so, so stupid -- (1st) that anyone would possibly wait this long to iron (2nd) that anyone has so many clothes that he CAN wait this long between ironings. DH would be happy to pay the ironing lady, but he would want me to wait as long as possible between trips, and I think that is ridiculous, too. I'm embarrassed for her to realize how long he can go without wearing the same thing twice, and I don't want to look like I'm moving when I pack the clothes up.
I watched A Room with a View (1990-something, Maggie Smith) earlier, and then the news... and talked to dmom. Will have to find something else to get me through the second session.

Harmony, I think six months must be the limit on forwarding, b/c I know ddil's parents address was correct last Christmas, but their card came back to me this year. (I got the right address and sent again.)

Getting Christmas boxes packed away is a HUGE accomplishment, Harmony. I am sooo sooo glad mine is all done. Plus, I vacuumed the den/kitchen/dining/guest bath areas last night, too, and that made me feel better, too. (There was really no choice; my 25+ year old artificial tree sheds like it's a live one, LOL, so I had to clean up the den, at least.)
Oh my goodness... with my little helper yesterday, this all took probably at least twice as long as it would have if I been alone. But I wouldn't take anything for his presence. He helped me carry boxes to & from the closet, and put the plastic apples in their boxes for me, and we only had a few casualities of the day: Daffy Duck lost a leg, Bugs Bunny lost a foot -- and then when I tried to glue him back together, I dropped him and he shattered into four pieces. We also had a ceramic Santa to lose his footing, playing hide and seek with the other Santas among the pillows in the bay window seat. Oh, and for the second time this season, Rudolph the Candy-Cane Reindeer had to have his nose reattached. When I asked dgs WHY he kept tearing these things up, he said, "I don't know," like he was just as perplexed as I was. LOL...

Helia -- I meant to tell you, your dd's work is very impressive!

I can definitely relate to the changing street names, too. AND the gps that won't make sense! So distracting on our trip, b/c all I had to do was stay on one main highway, but everytime it went through a town, the gps would start calling out the Street Name -- same state highway -- but it would totally confuse me. And then she would say, "Recalculating, recalculating..." when there was NOTHING to recalculate. I had made no turns, needed to make no turns, no turns ahead for 100 miles...

Elizabeth, you ARE amazing w/all you've learned to do. I wish dh or I, either one, was half as good at household repairs.

Lilac -- glad you were able to do your hair once you got home. That is sooo frustrating -- getting a haircut that is NOT what you had in mind.

DH and I were both supposed to get trims tomorrow, but beautician cancelled b/c her dd has the flu. We rescheduled for next week. I did not mind at all... coldest day of the year tomorrow, I think. I'll just stay indoors, I believe. (Although dh wants to go to a movie tomorrow night, and he wants to see if he can find something to use his gift card from dbil on. He is not very excited about his gift card, I must say.)
If dh can't be satisfied w/his card -- it's to a sporting goods store -- I'm thinking of getting a fitbit for myself. How does that work? How would it know if I had been taking steps all day, or just standing and ironing, for example?

Waving to ALL! Y'all stay warm!
Tomorrow is another day.

Nancy, HELP! Are you still using the WM R elion glucose meter? I finally finished the F reestyle Lite meter because my insurance no longer would pay for the strips. The dr. office had given me a C ontour N ext and I started using it. I had recently bought a R elion to carry in my purse to use away from home. Today was the first time to use it and it is reading 50+ above the C ontour Ne xt strips. I am so upset over the difference. I wish I knew which was close to accurate. Thanks for any input.

Nancy, this is the WM Re lion Prime meter. Can't believe I didn't mention that before.

I use the WM RE lion Prime meter, Lilac. Think it costs either $16 or $20 but strips are 50/$9.00. I think the numbers are pretty true according my A1C's. And when it reads low like in the 70's or low 80's I can really feel that my bs is low. Not sure if it's any help to you. So it was worth it for me to change from my old meter. I've been using this for nearly a year.

Hello, villagers ~
Today's temp stayed below zero with strong winds. I stayed inside all day except for about 10 minutes when I went out to pick up the newspaper from the front porch, take a crate full of papers out to the recycle bin, and start my car to let it run a few minutes. The car started right up with no hesitation, good little car! I could only stand to sit in it for a few minutes, though, before turning it back off and coming back inside.

Today has pretty much all been about getting ready for tomorrow's meetings. Lots of spreadsheets, phone calls, Emails, filing. :P

Bright spots, I did sew for an hour this morning, and (since I got up at 4:30a.m.) took an hour nap with the cat this afternoon -- so it wasn't a totally grim day.

Tomorrow I have a 30 to 45 minute meeting in the morning, a 2- to 2-1/2 hour meeting in the afternoon, and a 1- to 2-hour meeting in the evening. Then Friday I will hide at home!

1 load of laundry early today. I could probably sort out another load to put in the washer tonight while I finish meeting prep.

OK, first I will warm up with some decaf coffee, then I'll get back to work. BBL.

Dee, this is the WM Re lion P rime meter. I called to see about getting control solution, so that I can test a strip. They are only open 7 am- 7pm, so will try again tomorrow.

Lilac I now use relion prime and am very happy with it.
I have used relion confirm and liked it too. Strips were more.
I did not like the newest Bayer one my readings for it were off.
I did like the OLDER Bayer meter however it was fine.
Do you have control solution from other brands to try on it?

Did another round outside dealing with leaves while toddlern played on the swingset.

Got the creche packed up and put away all holiday stuff except the tree it us still up. I like the lights.

Hand pies made. Cookies ugh too done & barely edible.
dishes are going.

Felt a LOT BETTER yesterday, at 12:30 p.m., and at 1:15 p.m., I cancelled my Dr. appt. DH was concerned how I might pick up worst bugs at the Dr.'s office now, since I'd improved so much. My energy's coming back, was able to walk 30-minutes today, am doing much better, and the Children's Mucinex is WONDERFUL! I've never taken a kids' medicine, which works so well on me. I'm so pleased with it and certainly will replace my arsenal, once mine is used up, for future "bugs", too.

We're mild here, very foggy, and dry. Our terrible rains from Sunday into wee a.m. Monday, are gone. So many people lost their homes, from mudslides or flooding. :(

We ate steak burgers, from Omaha Meats, for dinner. Dson/Ddil gave us a meats order from there, for Christmas, which we received in a cooler with dry ice, yesterday. At Christmastime, they'd been told it'd be delivered on Jan. 6. They weren't late, in case you wondered. Dson/Ddil might have been late, getting the order in, but I'm not certain about that. On the other hand, Omaha Meats may have been overloaded with orders, for the holidays, so it came on the 6th. Nevertheless, the burgers were WONDERFUL! :P 8-)

Have a Wonderful Wednesday night, Everybody! I stopped my display card "thing," but I think of Thursdays as "Thinking Thursday," now. I guess it's a good day to unwind, read, and use my mind, too. I love to watch the birds at the feeder, while music's playing, because so many times, the birds will dance, fly around, and feed, to the rhythmic beats of the music. Sometimes, it's hilarious to watch and listen at the same time. Today, a Dove was feeding on the ground, in the little birdies crowd, and our cat did NOT like THAT one bit! She was so upset with the Dove! ;) Have a good night and a great Thursday, too. :D
TTFN. :)

Well my blood sugar is back in the normal range and the Re lion Prime was only 17 over the Contour N ext's reading. I will order control solutions for both tomorrow. Earlier my numbers kept climbing. I think part of it was due to stress when there was such a difference in the readings.
