How can you focus on having a wonderful Wed.?
For me it is thinking about new chicks that should hatch around Val. Day. We will have grands here in Feb. So they will enjoy that! Did my grats in my journal and have M.I.T. down.

Focus. So lacking in my life right now!

Ds just called to ask to sleep here. He has to stay up to pick up a jacket from a local trekking shop and decided he'd just fall asleep here rather than drive the 15 minutes home. He's having a hard time adjusting to nights after being off for 9 days for his holiday. He said they slept most of the holiday away. Up around 10:00, breakfast, bit of beach or pool, lunch, drinks at the bar, down for a nap, up to dress for dinner, drinks in the lobby bar after dinner, bed long before midnight. Repeat. His friend (he was with Not The Girlfriend) works a lot of evenings (she's a pharmacy assistant and her store is open until 11) and usually sleeps while on holiday as well, so they are a good pair. Dh says she's a good traveling partner because she doesn't get tense about stuff, just goes with the flow. They did a day of snorkeling and swimming with dolphins but aside from that, they did nothing for their week away and were happy to just be.

Of course, they were both tired at the start of the trip, ds worked an overnight and went straight to the airport. She worked until midnight and then stayed up until their 6 a.m. flight.

I should walk to the grocery store to get grapefruit for breakfast. But it is really cold now and will be warmer later. So I'm sipping tea trying to decide. I wrote two letters last night and need to get those in the box by 10 if they are to start on their journey today.

On the other hand, it is write sermon day. And I sort of want to start that.

So I sit in my pjs trying to decide what to do.

Later today I have to go back to Sears. They didn't take the anti-theft tag off my swim suit top. Sigh.... I'll get the car washed at the same time, which seems ridiculous because it isn't really dirty and there's snow for tomorrow and we have to drive out to the village for choir, but we can wash it a second time when we get home because we have a monthly pass! (I'm liking this luxury!)

We are in a snow drought right now. The ground is white but it is only a few inches deep (normally there'd be at least a foot of snow on lawns.) I'm liking it because the snow banks aren't too high and walking is easy but I'm sure ds would like fresh snow (as opposed to manufactured) for skiing. And dd hasn't gone skiing since her brother took her to his hill in December.

Hi everyone.

Had a rough night's sleep. Wayne went to work and then came home an hour later. He is now in bed trying to sleep.

As much as I want to look after him and fuss, he doesn't want me to, and he is being a very grumpy bear, so I think I need to go out. He said that the roads are clear, which is good because I either need to drive to Oakville or St. Catharine's. I would like to go to The B ay and look at dresses. I also need a pair of flat black dress shoes.

Good morning! I'm making my to-do list for the day and have to be at PT at 10 a.m. this morning, so need to get moving.

I visited my dsis yesterday - she is about the same - not really conversational but okay. She was in a state because he watch band had broken but she didn't want me to take it to get it fixed because she needs her watch. We went to the local Dollar stores to see if I could find a cheap watch for her to use while I get hers repaired, but no luck. I told her I'd buy another inexpensive watch and send to her so I could get the first fixed. We had the usual ice cream and went for a drive.

Another in-process is that my uncle - the last of my mother's sibs - has been referred for hospice care in CA. I don't know if I had mentioned that I was wanting to approach him with a DNA test kit. Each sibling gets random DNA from parents, so although he is mother's brother, his DNA would obviously be different and give us another "reading." I talked to another dcousin (one of the oldest "boy" cousins who tries to keep everyone connected) and he is going to call and try to talk to the uncle today about it. If it's a go, I'd like to get the DNA kit registered and into the mail to him today.

Tomorrow I have a flight out of here at 7 a.m. so there's lots to do to get busy. I have a dog sitter lined up but have to meet up with her to get a car to her; this is the friend of dd's who is at the local university and doesn't have a car. She will drive my car, and I will take ds' car (which is in our garage) to the airport.

I'll be back home after PT to finish a.m. routine and walk ddogs. I hate to think that my flight is at 7 tomorrow morning, when I'll typically sleeping until the sun is up around 7:45 right now.

"Slept" in since I was up and down from 2-6. Woke up coughing so bad once that I was choking -dh never heard me all night. Guess that's good. Think I am a tad better however. Certainly hope so. Had told dh we probably should go over to his db's. He asked me if I REALLY wanted to do that yet. No, but figured they'd be antsy because we hadn't come to visit them this week. Decided to call.

I'm now dressed, bed made and meds taken. Now for breakfast and coffee. Also want to set a lol twirling. Can't go as many days as I used to without doing laundry. (Underwear is diminishing -not in size but number. Guess it's about time to buy a new package.)

Off I go to enjoy this wonderful Wednesday.

Twins' Mom, I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle's illness. So interesting about the DNA project in general.

Yipes, Lilac - not good for the goldendoodle to be so sheared. I would hate to see ds' pup Riley like that - I believe he would be miserable. But I don't think they even consider taking him, since he is only 1/4 poodle and his coat more retriever-like.

Sadie, what a swing toward good weather for you - glad you got to enjoy it.

Have just gotten ddil's card ready to mail. Pretty Susan Wheeler one that I purchased in a set I hoped to use a lot. Wheeler is an excellent artist, and I think it's lovely that her art is also on her envelopes. But - SIGH - I didn't know that her cards (at least her sets) have her signature in a large oval on the back of every envelope. Visually, it "claims" the card for her. Traditional space for sender's personal choice of seal/sticker or return label is taken up with what amounts to a big trademark. I'm sure people who happen to glance at the back first as they get their mail must think, "Hmmm.... who do I know named Susan?"

I have a wish item today of getting my design wall moved to the other wall (sheet of flannel for patchwork).

HRH is home today and we are thinking... ... about maybe... a trip to see my late dh's family where there is long-term illness I've mentioned in J and C. A lot of things have to line up before this will look like a good idea. It's a long drive in the first place, and they have an extremely structured schedule, with exacting hours of household help specific to the illness. My brother-in-law (my late dh's sister's dh) always enjoys talking to HRH, and HRH has found some supplies to take for brother-in-law's hobby. Right now they have some diet restrictions in common, although HRH's are nowhere near as strict, and they have been saying they want to compare notes and see brother-in-law's new fancy kitchen appliances. We have already accepted the possibility that we may get halfway along on the trip and learn that we should reschedule after all.

downtown again.. geesh I got up too late and missed the train so we drove downtown and made it for dd younger. I had that little brat inside that was grumpy and didn't want to get up... dd was up and had a hard time waking me up. lol - all those years of me waking her up for school and now she has to wake me up.

Finn the goldendoodle definitely looks like he has poodle in him. He looks so small without all that poofy hair. Yesterday while I was there dd2 was talking about the fact that he is getting so tall that she will need to find another place for all the stuff that was put on the fireplace hearth to keep out of his reach. Finn walked over and reached up for a shoe and looked at dd2 like he was saying "ya better get it moved, because I CAN reach it."

One more nice day to be outside. I am so glad to get this yard cleaned up. Once we are done making tree limbs into mulch, I will need to get the east side of the front yard cleaned up. Right now it has limbs piled, ready to be mulched. In the back we have a flat bed trailer that has the limbs piled on it from the early October tree trimming adventure. Last night dh was questioning spending the money on the mulcher rental. Well it is either that or haul it to the dump. There would be at least 2 loads and we would have to pay for them. Plus, it never fails if he hauls something to the dump, he always gets a flat tire after the fact. So I think the mulcher is the way to go. My dm must think we are idiots because she reminded me that we need to be careful not to get our arms in there.

Cathy, before dh retired, he would be grumpy when he was sick. I would tell him, let me know when you need something. Then I would go to the main floor and do my own thing. He won't stay in bed if he is sick. He sets in his recliner to watch TV or sleep. It is in the basement family room. This time while he was sick, he was looking forward to retiring and then was retired. He was never grumpy. It is just amazing how laid back he is now.

I focused on getting sunlight and fresh air so walked over to the store for the grapefruit. Round trip, including mailing the letters was 30 minutes with about 24 of that walking to/from. I was very efficient.

Ds just came in the door now. He's in bed for just 4 hours then has to head up to the ski hill. On the bright side, he doesn't have to work an overnight shift tonight.

Dd will be here in about 30 minutes for lunch.

In the meantime, my focus for the day has been completely shifted. I came home to a request to take a service on Sunday. This church is in the far east rural area and I've never been to it before but I know a few people in the area and their minister is a designated lay minister who I know through Presbytery.

So I'm scrambling to write the service so I can get it to the person doing the bulletin. It isn't printed until Sunday morning but they like to do the formatting before that. Tonight is choir practice for them so I told them they can choose the music. Since I don't have a theme and don't even know which hymn books they have, this is the easiest way to go.
