Good morning, villagers ~
The tea party yesterday was a great success. All of the little girls were adorable. We had 4 adult and 5 teenage volunteers, in addition to the 6 committee members, and they all did outstanding jobs. You'll know how exhausted I was last night when I say that I didn't even turn on my computer to check Emails.

The party was supposed to start at 2:00 but the first guests came through the door at 1:30, and we were off and running. I didn't get home until after 6.00. I unloaded everything from the car, and then DH took me out for pizza supper since I didn't get to eat any of the food at the party. We were back home about 8:00 and I put away a bunch of stuff. I finally changed out of my fancy party outfit straight into comfy warm flannel pajamas, and went to bed at 9:00 with a good book. I turned off the light at 9:30 which is really very early for me!

I have my dvr set to record the Kitten Bowl on Hallmark Channel, which starts in a couple minutes. That's as much interest in the Superbowl as I have.

I'm going to cuop now to see what you all were up to yesterday while I was away.

Hello all! I have my laptop in the kitchen while I make pancakes and boiled eggs for dd16 and myself. We were open to going out to eat, as is our Sunday lunch tradition, but we decided to do this instead. It's easier with the snow. . .

We're definitely getting snow! It is snowing steadily, but not extremely hard. I am bad at estimating; my guess right now is about 3-4 inches right now? Not 12 inches yet, Lilac, but it's supposed to continue snowing for another 17 hours.

I did go to church this morning. There didn't seem to be that much snow on the ground at that point, but as I did a quick shoveling job on the end of our driveway, I decided there was more than I thought. I got home OK, though I did have trouble at one spot in our neighborhood. Main roads have been plowed at least once, but roads in our neighborhood have not.

I'm happy blessed is happy with her snow!!

I think this is a huge storm that is working its way across the country. I wonder how much your family will get in NY, Dee?

Dh was honestly disappointed to be missing this big snowfall.

I plan to completely shovel the driveway late this afternoon, even though the snow will still be falling for many hours. That will just make tomorrow's task easier. I'm planning on running the snowblower tomorrow morning. Dh reviewed its operating instructions with me before he left, and there's not much gas for it, maybe enough for one job. which I've decided will be tomorrow.

Hello, Helia ~ I have not opened the door yet, but looking out the window it appears we have about 5 or 6 inches of snow so far. I think we're supposed to get another 2 to 4 inches by tomorrow.

I don't know whether or not DH will want to go out for lunch when he finally gets up. He said last night that if we get as much snow as predicted, he will probably call in to take Monday off work. He has lots of vacation days built up.

We have plenty of food in the house so I'm not worried about that at all.

Hello everyone.

I've slept in an awful long time this morning.

So far I've cleaned up the kitchen and put all the dishes away, and scoured the sinks till they're shiny. I folded a LOL that I'd hung up yesterday and I have work clothes in the wash now.

It is warm here today, finally back up to 80°. I think we will let the fire burn out in the fireplace and get the ash outside, it is really piled up because we have kept the house warm with it for a couple weeks now. We will be looking around for more wood as our wood pile is dwindling.

LadyM I think I would google those people and see what I could find out, if there is anything. There might not be anything, they might just be socially inept. We google employees (new) and you'd be surprised what we find.

Sunny, I am so sorry to read about DH. I wish we lived closer. I tipped 1DH out of wheelchair a couple times and I could not lift him and he couldn't help. I always got him up on a short stool or hassock, then to a lower chair, then to a taller chair. But still, it was lifting. How is the shingles.

DD2 has the flu and middle dgson has it.

About cholesterol - dr. tells us here that red yeast rice is good for lowering cholesterol. If the problem is high triglicerides, though, that is treated better with fish oil. And niacin (always use the flush-free type) will raise the good cholesterol. I take all of the above and my numbers are better but still not great.

Thinking of those dealing with snow and all it brings.

I stayed home from church with LO. His fever spiked during the night but broke easily. He doesn't feel bad and it is a challenge to keep him down and/or doing something with little energy required. If his fever doesn't return I'll let him go to school tomorrow.

This morning I took all the January decorations down and put up february. I have about 90% of it completed, just waiting on a few items to finish drying so I can put those out (shower curtain, table runners, pot holders, etc.)

Lunch is simple to prepare. Fish sticks, tator tots and green salad. I normally don't cook much on Sunday so simple pleases me.

Home from church, dd and groceries.

Church went fine. It took 30 minutes door to door and it was a stress free drive. I sang the whole way trying to get into voice for the hymns. I haven't been singing enough since Christmas and combined with the dry apartment, I croaked a lot yesterday when going over the hymns so wanted to exercise the vocal chords before getting to church.

Lovely little former Presbyterian church. Very friendly. Great choir - they sounded like angels.

Stayed 45 minutes after church, partly because I was enjoying the conversation and partly because I was enjoying the bag pipes being practiced in the sanctuary.

Then to dd's. I took back roads to her place, past another rural church I've been to before. She and dsil cooked us an eggs any-style breakfast and we visited for a bit.

Then it was to the local grocery store for potatoes and butter, plus I picked up a case of club soda and some fresh flowers since we had the car so didn't have to worry about the weight or the cold. The club soda went through at the wrong price so I had to go back, take a photo of the shelf price and then go to get my money refunded. (This store subscribes to the industry policy of refunding up to $10 the difference when a price is in the computer wrong.) So I got the club soda for free. Yay!

I'm home, have changed into jeans and may nap for 30 minutes and then start dinner. Roast chicken.

d Kathryn.. I am sure your voice is so much better than mine. A little girl asked me why I wasn't singing christmas songs during our door to door caroling... she told me everyone can sing.. I tried a bit... her response was a slight empathetic and sweet smile and putting her hand on her ear near me. Trust me... you don't want to hear this voice! Enjoy your evening.

I am definitely a grumpy cleaner today... but weeklies and put away chores are getting done. no cooking yet.

I see that they're expected to get 10"-15" from this storm, Helia. Will watch and see. Looks like it's snowing at a pretty good pace from the live cam's I can see. Know the temp has dropped all day.

I've snoozed a lot this afternoon. Went to church this morning and then to breakfast after. There were 19 of us and they don't have 'call ahead seating', but they did ask us to call ahead anyway when there were that many of us so they could start setting aside a section. We're out shortly after 11 and the restaurant is probably 10-12 minutes away. So possibly if someone calls as soon as we know after church they might be partly ready for us.

Guess I was tired out by the time I got home. Hate getting so dragged out but guess it'll take a while.

The sun is not shining here, but we are only getting rain, so that's okay... and I have not really shone a lot today either -- although I did help serve communion this morning at church, so I hope I was shining at that time.

Also, completed all but the following from my LONG list yesterday:

-- and I'm not really sure about even doing any of that. Seems like EVERY TIME I try to do some sort of preventative measure on the computer, something else goes haywire. I think I'll just leave it alone.
[x] re-filed cards for next week:
-- dust, vacuum (skipped this week b/c of dmil's decluttering)
-- mop kitchen & baths (I don't know why this is so urgent, I've skipped it for over a month)
-- s/s dh's shower (a 5 min task, but it got skipped Thurs while we were at dmil's decluttering)

Still wondering about that diaper that Lilac had to change last night that made her gag...

We will watch the Super Bowl; ds & dgs are coming over so it is questionable how much I'll see. OTOH, I am not really invested in either team, though I will be pulling for the Seahawks for you, FF!

WTG on cutting your dh's hair, Nancy! I'd never attempt that! DH would never ALLOW me to attempt that!

Meant to tell y'all, dmom sang at her (now, old) church Wed. night and told them she would be leaving, at least for a while, to join the other church. She said everyone was really nice to her -- I think she said the pastor had her come to the front after the service so everyone could come by and say good-bye and wish her well. But she sang "Build My Mansion Next Door to Jesus" which she said was my dad's favorite gospel song. (I did not know that.) She was determined to sing it, maybe b/c it was her last time (for a while) at ddad's old church, maybe b/c Thurs. was their anniversary. But she couldn't find her recorded music of it, so she just sang it acapella. I am amazed at her courage!

Ooohhh -- I like Harmony's suggest to google the creepy parents, LadyM! See if they have FB pages, too. Some people put really weird things out in public on FB.
