So many great things happened here today! This certainly is a Tried and True Day!

Happy for LadyM for good mammogram results and a buyer for her farm!! Wow!
Happy for Harriet that her talk for the study went so well! WTG --Forgot to say earlier that dd16's architecture project sounded interesting and fun.
Happy for Twins for no jury duty!

I'm sure I'm missing someone.

Dd16 went to a friend's house for a bday party this evening, so I'm home alone. I've already eaten some dinner. I'm going to work on the moms group teaching here pretty soon.

Dh called and his technology did better, well enough today. He's heading to his family in NL tomorrow.

Lunch with ds was fun, even though it took a chunk out of my day. He was quite animated, pretty jazzed by his classes and the work he's doing with a prof. After just telling me he never runs into dd19 in the building where we met (kind of like a student union on the campus where the engineering school, art and design school, and music school are all located - separate from the main campus), we walked out of the restaurant and ran straight into dd19!! She was in a very light mood, laughing about some strange thing her campus religious group leader had them doing at the last meeting, which had left dd19 laughing uncontrollably right at the time when everyone was supposed to be worshipful and serious. . . . It did sound pretty odd, yes. . . Ah, that's my dd19.

Alright, I need to buckled down here and get some things ironed out with the teaching.

Harriet, I also wanted to say that I think I do a better job teaching upfront when I'm not glued to the podium, especially during Q and A time, so I laud that approach, if it's comfortable for you - which it sounds like it is. It's hard to change the format of a group if it is accustomed to a certain way of doing things. It is almost like each group has its own culture, which is very hard to change; that's how I sometimes think about it. It can be scary for members of a group to spontaneously voice thoughts in front of everyone else, depending on personalities. Some personalities are always more willing to share than others. Often, in our moms group, the women work on a study before whole group sharing, so the pump has been primed, so to speak. They can share what they've just spent some time studying and thinking about. We've also worked intentionally as much as we can to try to make our moms group a "safe" place to share.

Gkids have come and gone. We will have them 2-15 to 3-4 sharing with other grandparents. So gearing up for a busy time later this mo.

Knitting mtg. Went well. Did a couple errands. Paid a bill. Baked up cookies for the kids and lunches. Posting from ex. Bike it is wet any raining out h. Is on his way home.

I thawed out soup for dinner.

Got a new concept planner page type thing for the fridge on a magnet calendar weekly list and part for notes and or groc list.
a new journal for my new 90 day focus and some soxs too.

Watched some u tube on string heddles for Weaving.

Harriet, I'm gteaching class went well. I just know you would be a good speaker!

LadyM, I'm happy for your double good news for mamo and house sale! (Too bad about dh's car though.)

Lilac, I hope the dentist can get your bridge adjusted properly so it is comfortable for you.

Kathryn, it's good that you found out you will have heat and water during a power out! You could always go out to eat for a good meal if you can't cook.

BookSaver, I enjoyed reading about your Tea Party. I'm glad it went well.

I have a lot to catch up on here at home. I was busy Saturday and Sunday, ds#2, ddil and dgd13 came for dinner and watched part of the Super Bowl game with us. Dgd20 had to work, so we sent a dinner plate home for her, along with a meal, most of the birthday cake and her gift. I must have overdone more than I should have and was exhausted yesterday and rested a good bit of the day. Felt more normal today, but still just did a little at a time. I don't want to slide backwards. Tomorrow will be a much needed desk day!

RE: emergency planning.

Going out to eat isn't all that easy - in a major outage, there will be no power at the restaurants. (I'm talking like the outage that put out the power on the northeast part of US and Canada that summer or the Ice Storm of 1998.) Or an earthquake or tornado (one hit just a few miles from here in 1993.)

Re: my evening. Ran errands with dh which took longer than planned but I had padded my time to get to the restaurant by more than enough time so got there 5 minutes early. My friend was already there and the first thing he said was "I feel like steak" so we left and went next door to the pub and had steak!

I asked the hostess for a quiet table where we could stay all evening but he wanted a booth so we ended up back at the front but had a booth and only really saw our server all evening. Stayed 3 hours. Just talked and ate. Good visit. He had a disappointing day (the clergy appreciation lunch was catered by church women and were egg salad sandwiches and soup!) Only about 50 there. No dating material at all. But the drive was flawless and so he felt he had a day away.

I'm off to bed now. Thought I'd be up late with all the tea I had but I'm actually very tired from all the socializing.

Well, after my flurry of work with the county and in my computer, I slept for a couple more hours. I'm sleeping way too much, it is really a struggle. Did go out and help DH for a few minutes. He was fixing a truck. Needed to order a part...it's the gear that works the warm air door from the knob...and lets heat come into the cab. I guess it was very cold for him today. We're hoping this kinda pricey part fixes the problem, no way to tell that it is that or something behind the knob.

We had frozen pizza for dinner, yuck. I can't get together enough energy to cook. I did manage to recharge the coffee pot, load the dishwasher, and write one check. I'm off to bed now.

HUGE post. Maybe no one wanted to read it anyway.

But I responded to everyone and I was sooo happy for LadyM... and so much having blessed and dd in my thoughts...

and so amazed * and frustrated * at my own dmom.

Please just let me try to give you the short version of dmom today.

First -- I had my lab work, went to post office & mailed candy to "mentoree" from church, got the freshly cleaned garbage can back from dfriend (promised to bake him some cookies or something -- he even offered to take it back to dmil's for us, since he was going that way later today anyway. I told him we'd take it, b/c we were headed that way, too.) (This man is husband to one of my dmom's oldest and dearest friends and was a long-time friend of my dad's, one of his pallbearers.)

AND -- we ended up spending six hours (dh, ds, myself) at dmil's -- more sorting/organizing/discarding.

Dmom called first while I was actually on my way to get lab work, around noon.
She called last, accidentally, when we came home from dmil's, around 8:00 p.m.

* Surgery has to be rescheduled; Medicare won't cover procedure as out-patient. When is good?
* I told her dh & I had plans for the 10th/11th; the week of the 16th would be best. Anytime that week was good.
* She called back, and she actually says: "You said the 10th was okay?"
* Me: "Nooooo... dh needs me to go to college town with him that day... I just now told you that..."
* She: "I thought you said that was good, the next week was bad..."
I need an emoticon of banging head on the wall.
* She calls doctor back, calls me back -- if they don't do it the 10th, it will be mid-March...
* I confer w/dh; he says fine... he can skip that game... needs to stay here and go to nursing home w/ds... it's fine... (he's disappointed, but it's fine)
* Surgery is confirmed.
* Dmom wants dh/ds to sing at their church fellowship gathering tomorrow night. Dh & ds say that is fine, they can do it.
* Dmom must confirm this w/pastor. Pastor's wife says they might not do fellowship supper, it was kinda a spur of the moment idea, might not be a good night...
* Dmom wants me to get paint cans at my grandmother's house, so she can take them to match more paint tomorrow; she will meet me at my house and get them & get dfriend's mortgage papers.
* Dmom says forget paint; she's not coming this way tonight; too tired. She will get paint cans herself tomorrow and see me then. She still knows nothing more about church thing tomrrow night.

All this flip-flop of plans just totally drives dh up the wall, but y'all would be amazed at how well he is holding up under the circumstances.
His golf outing tomorrow was cancelled, and that was a change of plans that sorta was a relief to him.
Also, dbil sounds glad we are doing all we are at dmil's, even without his presence, so that was a relief to dh, too.

I've got to lie down for a while. This day has been insane.
