I have dinner in the oven & more laundry is going now. Plus I did another round in my office aka creativity room progress is starting to show now yea it is looking better! I picked up some in the living room as well.

I got distracted but am on track now. Sent off two important emails and crossed another task off my endless to-do list.

I'm charging my fitbit now. Dh had to find my cable for me. I searched and searched and was panicked (it is a proprietary cable.) I keep it in a pouch of chargers on my desk and it must have fallen out and down behind my monitor. I looked there but didn't see it. Dh looked with fresh eyes and found it.

Next up, reconciling.

One other thing that may help some - The book 'Peek Performance Living' by Joel Robertson taught me that those whose brains had been programmed to want dopamine early (lots of stress at an early age) Do better with protein at each meal, and sports/ what sort of exercise with or without others depending on the person's individual type. There is a quiz in the book.
I'd been having lots of carbs w each meal, and adding more protein through the day was a definite help.

Feb 10 was the day our church friend called me to say there were robins across his backyard, so he got the "first sighting" here on those. Feb 9 was the day we ourselves had seen those jonquils, so I was able to tell him that, since he hadn't seen any yet. That just lets you know the back-and-forth temperatures here.

Intense outdoor chores done here. It's too cold for me to tell whether our lightbulb-heater for the hen's water is working - I think so but don't want to take things apart right now. But at any rate I filled their water fuller than I ever do. Also extra feed. Gathered eggs, closed them up tight.

Someone asked me about hen outdoors activities . They do go out but only leave the covered pen when we can let them out onto grass, so I don't guess they have really experienced the snow.

Weather folks have upped our expected accumulation. Who knows. Will be interesting to see whether Sadie's son gets more or less than we do, because there are conflicting ideas, but the general area as a whole has gone from 4 - 6 up to 6 - 8 inches predicted tonight, at about an inch per hour until dawn. I doubt now that we can have a good Sunday for community travel to churches here. Bad that there will be 2 in a row. We always seem to find out at church if anyone has needs. If I notice some of our elderly haven't been able to come for both these Sundays, I may suggest to deacons that they need calls.

blessed, I commend your dd for wanting to become an organizer. Do you have "The Coffee News" in your area? They don't tell their ad prices right out on the internet, but their slogan is that it is "the cost of a cup of coffee per day" and supposedly they have a lot of proofs that it is cost-effective. Seems very wholesome, usually, with lots of home-related ads.

Lynlee, so interesting about your children's response to dietary change. I had known bits of that from you, but not all. There's really no telling how that may have benefited them in ways you didn't even know. When I look back at the differences between my two most different toddlers, ds29 and dd16, I wonder now if our household had different dietary habits in the late '80s than we did around 2000.

Coverage will begin here about the storm at 4 a.m. HRH will probably be sitting in front of the tv. I see no reason to bother, though, and intend to keep the usual schedule. I can envision lots of good housework through the day, with a teenaged helper totally housebound.

I wasn't planning to post, but I just have to thank you for that lovely and encouraging image, Harmony. I wish I could be in your backyard to see those robins! Do they really wait politely for each other? I love birds! We have 2 feeders we can see well from our living room window. One is a dud; there's something about it the birds don't like. It's pretty new and replaced an old feeder that apparently was better. . . . The other feeder is a peanut feeder, so it is visited by chickadees, nuthatches, and woodpeckers. It is encouraging to think the robins will be here soon! Thank you!! I smiled.

I haven't actually read that book, Sunny, though I know of it. I really should read it! I kind of suspect that was a different race. I think that book was written before the elfstedentocht, which started in 1909, I think. And I'm not sure children would have been allowed to race in it as it is such a long and arduous race - 200 km (124 miles).

I got home at 7 pm on the dot tonight. I've been working on my review sheet for class tomorrow, but I'm very tired. I'm thinking of going to bed and then getting up early to finish it and get ready for moms group. I need to close the hens up before I can go to bed. It's supposed to get down to -9F tonight, or actually around 7 a.m. tomorrow morning. We're getting used to frigid mornings. . . .

Walked 1 hour, wrote a PODA for Thursday, did 1 LOL, it's put away, and wrote a special projects to do list. Now, to get them done!

Had simple dinner with hot dogs and tomato bisque soup.

Printed a PDF poem, from a poetry site, called "Pelican." It was good and had a word in it, I'm not familiar with. Want to look it up.

My hens are out in the snow! They have no choice; if they want to eat, they have to walk on the snow. It is pretty packed down in front of their feeder by now. They have a pattern of going out to eat and drink when I open up their coop in the morning and then again a second time around 5/5:30 pm before they go to roost for the night. They might come out for an afternoon foray, but I haven't seen them do that during these frigid days. --Of course, I'm not really home in the afternoons anymore with payroll. . . . With a fresh snow, they are very leery to come out of their coop when they see snow on their steps. I usually try to brush it off to encourage them to come out and eat. They are spending most of their time inside, understandably. . . . When it was about 20F, they started spending more time outside.

About 10" snow here now, maybe more.
So far, some flickering lights but no power outages.
Wishing so bad I had consented to have gas logs back when we were building.
But... For now, we are warm and well-fed. Kinda nice tone snowed in and know that even if someone wants me, I can't go.

Hi again everyone! It is almost midnight here. All the things on my previous list are done except finish up the shawl. Since it is due in April, I am not too worried about it. The big chore was pay bills, and all are done, except M aster C ard is only partially paid. With the car repairs, Christmas travel, and refi expenses, I have carried a balance for a few months, something I rarely do. I am gradually whittling away at it: the first Friday in March will be payday, and I can put almost all of it toward MC. That will clear off all but a small amount, which should be gone by the paycheck after that. I really want to start adding to my savings again. Catboxes are done, but I should probably feed that cats too. And fix breakfast for tomorrow (lunch is done). See you tomorrow!
