Let's give it a try Tuesday!
I recently read an article how we can convince ourselves something can't be done. What would happen if we thought it could be done? Studies have shown our thoughts greatly influence our accomplishments.

RE: questions about LO meds -
The first couple of days that LO took the meds, he did have some side effects. He wasn't hungry and he wasn't ready to go to sleep at bedtime. However, after a few days of taking the meds, his appetite has returned. Even though he isn't going to sleep as easily, he is still getting 10 hours sleep a night. I'm not totally sure that LO realizes that he is taking the meds. Part of his morning routine is taking child vitamins buried in a spoon full of applesauce. I just added an extra spoonful of applesauce with the pill to his routine on the day he takes the med (school days only).
I have told DDIL & DD, but otherwise I have not shared with family/friends that LO is ADHD. Of course, I have told his teacher and his counselor and they have been awesome to give me information and feed-back. I can't think of any benefit from others knowing and I don't want them labeling him……especially since most everyone knows his biological mother is bi-polar and extremely unstable. It helps immensely that I can come to this special group of friends and talk it out without fear of hurting LO.

Re: Let's give it a try Tuesday!
Good morning!
Slow moving here after a good night's sleep so still not sure what is up with that. We leave in just under 2 hours and I'm not dressed. Still have to finish up payroll for the month of February and get that settled. Will pay ourselves March at the same time so that we have money in the accounts to access while away.
Making dinner arrangements for tonight. Apparently, I'm going out (splitting the difference half way with MF so he saves 1/2 hour of driving.) That means I need to think of a dinner for dh and pick up ingredients on the way home from hair cuts.

Good morning, villagers ~
Thanks for opening the thread, LadyMaverick.
DH and I are hibernating today. We had freezing rain & sleet overnight which is supposed to continue through this morning. The DOT road conditions website shows all routes covered with ice, and schools are cancelled. DH walked out to the street and back, said he didn't have any trouble walking on the ice and he could probably drive ok, but he didn't want to be near the idiots who don't know how to deal with slippery roads.
I'm sure his decision to take the day off work was also helped by the knowledge that he has an overabundance of vacation and personal days built up. Might as well use 1.
I went to bed late and got up early, so I'm short some hours of sleep.
So far today I have already done the dishes, 1 load of laundry, planned menus for the week, answered Emails, and worked on bookkeeping for the library group.
I'm going up for a nap now. When I get back up, the rest of the day will be spent on desk chores and trying to keep warm.

Re: Let's give it a try Tuesday!
I agree dear lady m re: little ones ADHD... your helping him channel that energy and the world doesn't have to be part of his growing up. Unfortunately many parents, because of their own lack of self esteem, lack of education or living their own lives through their child's accomplishments, will try to boost their child up and with/without meaning to against another child. I saw it all the time. We all grow in special ways and it's a blessing. If he sees this as a blessing.. it will be a blessing. dd younger struggles with focus but has come with some amazing creative ways to learn. She is a really good student and has to work really hard to make lessons interesting by using her energy and creativity in different ways. Things I remember working.. literally playing baseball with spelling words and facts. making up games that helped her remember facts. Jumping on tic tac toe multiplication was how she learned multiplying by 3's. She also learned as she got older that 3 x 5 cards written with facts right away were great as she could pick them up weekly or daily to push her memory. She has to use color cards as they help with her memory more than white cards.

Still slow moving but payroll is completed and in my purse, ready to pay at the bank.
I'm picking up South African Rand today while I'm out so that I have cash to pay our guest house with and tips for the tours. They give us a discount when we pay cash. This is the same place we stayed before and I'm looking forward to going back. It is just the right mix of luxury and homeyness.
Just about time to leave so I'll double check exchange rates and then head on our way.

Re: Let's give it a try Tuesday!
Howdy folks! It is only 930 and I have gone to a meeting, modified a report, and typed up my meeting synopsis. The boatload of payroll tasks from yesterday are still with me, they were to cover a two week period. Last night, I collected all my tax documents, but had a problem. Two of them were online and had to be printed. Guess who ran out of printer ink and had to print them at payroll. I may get a rude surprise come payment time. While unemployed, I had to cash out 10k from an investment account. Taxes were not withheld. May owe some money there.
On the morning train, I was planning to do my Bible study for tomorrow. Would have helped had I remembered a BIBLE! I did remember the study guide, but that was not sufficient. Must get that done tonight and/or Wednesday train. Three of us are training people in an office in the city I actually live in. This means that, instead of taking the long commute home, they will drop me off at the station, where I will pick up my car and go to the tax appointment. Then, it is Girls' Night Out with DD13. She is doing testing so there will be no homework, but there can't be any late night stuff either.
I am playing phone tag with my dad. When I finally get to talk to him, I am going to invite him to spend his birthday (mid Sept) out here. He likes to see Styx as his birthday celebration, and they are coming here 3 days after his birthday. DD and I will see the show regardless of who else comes. It's on a Friday too!

WhoooHOOO! I finally have an answer for rural water close out. Now to make the 104 minute drive (according to google maps) so I can hand them cash. I'm glad to get this simple but insanely complicated item checked off the gotta do list.
