Things to Remember Saturday
Just saw this on the internet and thought it was well-worth remembering for myself, so I wanted to share it.
Today I might have too many things on my plate, but I will remember I don’t have to do them all.
Today I might have too many balls in the air, but I will remember to hold the most important ones.
Today might be one mad dash from morning to night, but I will remember my people cannot kiss a moving target—and I’ll stop for love. I’ll stop for love.
Today I might feel like I am going nowhere, but I will remember how far I’ve come.
Today I might have my patience tested, but I will remember the saving grace of a 3-second pause.
Today I might mess up many times, but I will remember I’m the only one keeping track. Only love today. Only love today.
Today I might not see the blessings beneath the mess and mayhem of my life, but I will remember to keep looking.
Today I will try to remember the glorious offerings of this day:
A chance to love and be loved
A chance to live and let live
A reason to celebrate
A time to breathe
A shot at peace and
One less regret tomorrow.

Set your intentions for this day—what do you want to get out of it? And if a day seems overwhelming, set your intentions for 10 minutes. In a 10-minute period protected from distraction & pressure, a loving connection can happen, a memory can be made, & a path can be paved for a more positive day ahead.
Thanks for being part of The Hands Free Revolution
Thinking so much of Lilac & Mr. Lilac in the weeks ahead... and Twins and family with worries for fur-babies... and others who have posted so many needs and concerns lately. I have been sort of AWOL b/c of dh and his sports and geneolgy addiction, but you are all in my thoughts and prayers!

Re: Things to Remember Saturday
Hi all!
Posting this from the Indian Ocean about 400 miles off the coast of Australia. It is absolutely calm today. We keep forgetting we are on a ship. So that's what I have to remember!
We are slowly moving into restoration mode. At this point we don't have a rhythm of ship life so there's still a bit of stress as we rush from event to event.
This ship offers a lot more to do than Silversea (SS) as well as 3x the number of passengers to get to know. Obviously, we won't know everyone, that isn't even possible on SS but we can usually recognize most people.
The ship is a mixture of better and worse the SS.
The cabin is about 100 square feet smaller so that's an adjustment although it is laid out optimally so I have one empty cupboard and one empty set of shelves. The coffee/room service table was too small for us but they brought us a larger one on wheels with drop down leaves so it can be as big or small as we need and easy to move out of the way.
The furniture on the balcony is more comfortable. The shower is lovely, there are two sinks in the bathroom and tons of storage in there (we are storing non-bathroom items in there and still have the empty cupboard.)
I'm allergic to the soap in the public washrooms - the perfume gives me a coughing fit. I'm also allergic to the Vaseline Intensive Care I bought in Perth so am short body lotion.
No butler which actually makes my life easier. The fridge at counter level so no bending. Big bonus!
Lots more drawer space and the same hanging up space but no walk in closet. Not sure how that will work but so far no problems.
The suitcases were delivered to our cabin by 1:45 so we were unpacked by 4 and wandered the ship a bit. Muster drill was at 5, we left at 6 but dinner was then so we missed the sail-away. On SS it is a special occasion. Here nothing. We wandered around before dinner looking for where the party was and there wasn't one. Weird.
Dinner was passable. The dessert was mind-blowingly wonderderful (peanut butter & chocolate truffle.) Our table mates are fine. One of them went to the same high school I went too but 12 years before me! We'll be eating with these folks almost every night so I'm glad they are fine.
Entertainment was good. The fact that they had any was different from SS, who never has a show on embarkation night.
There is a movie theatre so we can watch movies there, in our suite, borrow dvds or watch on our computers anywhere on the ship.
We slept well.
With the early dinner (6) and early show (out by 9:15) we got to bed early so woke up easily by 6:45. I made it to the nordic pole walking at 7:30 and walked 1.75 miles before my knees hurt too much. Still it got some decent steps in for the day.
A quick shower and then up for breakfast. We went to the buffet. It works much better than SS since dh could put his egg order in himself and get them warm with all the sides he wanted. On SS the waiter does that and the eggs or toast were always cold. The bacon here is also much better than SS which is not necessarily a good thing! OTOH, their onion rings are awful so lunch will be a lot healthier!
We went to the lecture (not to our taste) and then back to the cabin and I read and dh sunned.
Trivia was at 12:05 which is early but I got on a team and we lost badly. Or, as I prefer to say, it took 17 teams to beat us!
Lunch was next (just salad - so healthy) and now I'm doing laundry. I don't know how long the cycles are so I iced my knees in the cabin for 20 minutes and am now sitting in the laundry room typing this. Next up is tea time, then choir for dh while I s2s and do my nails for formal night tonight.
Lots of technical things aren't going well so dh is a bit on edge but I'm getting more relaxed.
Laundry washer is done and I have a few things in the dryer. The rest will hang to dry after my shower.
Dh is back to the techie people to see if he can get his tablet and our two phones working with Press Reader. When working it is brilliant because you have the day's menu and the activities available on your phone. On the other hand, when it doesn't work, it is frustrating and of 4 devices, it only works on one, my tablet.

Re: Things to Remember Saturday
How I love hearing your adventures, Kathryn! Can place myself right there listening to you. Have a wonderful voyage.
Getting ready to go to Parrish so dh and dd can play euchre today. I'm hoping they don't need me. I'm not a good euchre player at all. Dh and dd got home just about 11 o'clock last night from Gator Nationals. Guess they had a fabulous time, but now that's off their 'bucket list' not something they'll probably ever do again.
I slept or is the word NOT. Was awake until after 4 and then woke up when dh got up at 6. So I'm not really up to go.
Breakfast and coffee time. BBL -much later. Now dh is saying he'd like to stop and get the car washed. WHAT?! I was planning to leave at 10:30 (they start at noon). Hoping that dd is slow enough that we don't have to stop to do that this morning.

Re: Things to Remember Saturday
My day has started well.
Today is the 1st of 9 days of Spring Break. LO and I have a goal of painting the gazebo during Spring break. We will do some fun activities during Spring Break too, but LO is more excited about getting to paint than he is about doing *fun* stuff. My overall goal is to introduce LO to painting project during this spring break. I know he won't be good at it, but he should get a good sense of what it take to plan a project and carry it through.
Restricting my time spent on FB & SHE is good, but a bit confining for now. I am pleased though with progress made. Currently I am limiting myself to 60 minutes a day - shared between those 2 websites.
Yesterday I was able to make tremendous progress on paperwork. Since I started a new paperwork system a couple months ago, I am able to tell how many days I am behind. I had paperwork waiting since feb 13th and was able to get them all processed. That brings the paperwork up-to-date for this year. Now I need to go back and process the huge stack of papers from last year so the tax prep can be done.

Re: Things to Remember Saturday
I really enjoyed reading about your first day on board the cruise ship, Kathryn!
How wonderful to introduce LO to a project, from planning to execution to clean up, LM! And limiting SHE and fb time can be a good thing. I'm not on fb much at all these days.
((Dee)) Maybe you can take a nap today?
I got up at 9 a.m. this morning after going to bed around 11 pm last night. I was tired. . .. .
My calendar is empty today, which is such a glorious feeling! That doesn't mean there aren't things I need to do, but there are no appointments/meetings on it.
I really need a day like this.
I don't think I got here at all yesterday. It was a busy - but good - day. Dh and I went downtown to go out to eat in the evening, and I ate way too many points - but I tracked them.
Dd16 just got up and told me today was a special day, 3/14/15 - pi day to 4 digits. LOL!
I have emptied the dw and dish drainer, checked emails, and had a cup of tea.
Next for me is a.m. routine progress.
Later today:
- go for a jog!
- TSS to buy more chicken feed
- groc. store, quick run; I forgot to buy pork chops for a meal this week, so we had chicken curry 2 nights in a row. I promised dd16 the pork chops tonight. She likes this recipe.
- Hebrew translation work
- conversations with dh re: (1) our summer vacation plans - what are they? --We don't even know where we're going. Dh likes long, complicated vacations. He's making noise about going to Iceland. I'd be OK with something simple and closer to home. (2) college visit trips for dd16. We need to get some on the calendar; it may already be too late for this spring.
Have a good day all!

Re: Things to Remember Saturday
Congrats on the paperwork catch up, Lady M
Dh is picking up ds in ATL today so I don't have to go. Can't quite figure him out - he was insistent that I call ds and make arrangements (I couldn't go until after dMacs' PT appointment) then decided to go himself after Torah study. I can't complain, it save me the trip and ds will get home earlier anyway. Dd I think is coming home on Monday. She wanted to talk to me last night at 9:45 as we were heading home from concert about not starting grad school next year.
Told her we needed to talk in person with her and dh both present, not over the phone when tired and headachy.
We saw Vienna Boys choir last night - great evening but I was worn out and had a headache.
I had more to say last night to all you when dh walked in and it was time to get ready and head out. Now I can't remember!
I gotta go....would like to somehow squeeze out genealogy time but don't know whether that will happen this weekend. I need to get my breakfast right now and get ready to take dMacs to PT

Re: Things to Remember Saturday
((DMacs)) Is dd still doing the archaeology dig and/or a trip to Israel, Twins? Will those activities happen during the school year next year?
Thank you for the lovely start and quotes, lucylee. 10 minutes I can handle if a whole day seems overwhelming, so true.

Re: Things to Remember Saturday
Morning y'all..
Wanted to tell Harmony before I forget that I was thinking of her yesterday. I went to the H D box store to get my flowers and was lifting sacks of dirt. She beat me planting her flowers and that is on my list today.
We are having a heat wave and I'm not really happy about that. Temps should be in the low 90* which is more than 15* above normal for this time of the year. Tomorrow Sweetie and I are go to the Good Guys Car Show. Its held in a hugh open field. It's going to be hot walking around and I need to remember to bring my sunscreen. Plenty of venders so I don't have to worry about drinking water.
My day is busy. Will be working outside for most the day and then will join Norma and Mr. Guy for dinner. I'm looking forwards to that.
Thinking abt Lilac and her DH and sending good wishes.
Our schools are on Spring Break this week so that means I'll have plenty of time to work outside and not be anxious about someone needing a sub.
I too plan on doing more genealogy this week. Addictive isn't it Twins

Re: Things to Remember Saturday
lucylee, thank you for the wonderful opening this morning. I needed that! Will need to get it printed off.
Dd1 came by and brought our mail and papers. Dh's card arrived on Thursday after being mailed on Saturday. They were mailed together and mine made it in 2 days. His decided to take a longer trip than mine. Dd1 said that she will be going with us and staying for the duration. I knew she would be there for the surgery but hadn't thought about her staying. She has a lot of sick leave and can use it for that. She said she would have used it, even if she wasn't planning on leaving the school district this May. Dh was very relieved to know that I wouldn't be alone while he is in the hospital. Safety wise and because of my diabetes, he said he had been concerned. I knew that my dm would plan to stay. I hope with dd1 being there, dm will go home with db after the surgery. I know dd2 will want to go for the surgery but probably won't be able to. Between being very low on sick leave and taking care of her family, she has her plate full.
LadyMaverick, it is so exciting reading about the positive results LO is having due to the ADHD meds. I think that him wanting to paint while on spring break proves that he is aware of the great example of work ethic that you and your dh have and he wants to have it also. What a wonderful upbringing you and your dh are giving him.
Kathryn, I love hearing about your ship life experiences.
helia, enjoy your calendar free day. It is so rare for you to have one.
Dee, have a great day, with your dh and dd.
Twins, you have a found day, since you don't have to make the trip to and from Atlanta. Yeah!
RR, enjoy playing in the dirt today. All the stores that deal with plants, outdoor things, etc. are stocking up and ready to go.
I need to get busy. It is so great to be home.
