Good morning all! I have a query running long, so decided to pop in. (I think my query has actually CRASHED instead).

Friday the 13th was NOT my lucky day. My car got another day at the 'spa'. Fortunately, it failed to start at the Dollar Tree, which shares a parking lot with Firestone, which is located downhill, and they are open on weekends (unlike my usual mechanics). This was not the first time mechanics there had rolled a car downhill to their facility. Even better, I was able to borrow my friend's extra car, so I did not miss cat clinic or the estate sale setup I had volunteered for. Another $500 for starter, brake line flush (unrelated, but needed), and something else I cannot remember that was unrelated but needed. I have put $2500 into my car this year. Still cheaper than buying new. I had to put it on a card. The new Firestone card gets me interest free if paid off in 6 months, but 22% if not. Guess I know where my tax refund is going. I really need to rebuild my savings.

DD13 and I went to Dinosaurs Alive Sunday, and spent way too much money.

I have a list a mile long. Maybe I will post it later, no time now.

hello... my day got away from me again... but I had lots of nice chats... my dd younger and my d mom skyped me from florida, dd older had a nice chat, dh and I had a nice chat as well - all worked out... and the dishwasher came in. We have dishwasher that doesn't leak.. woo hoooo

New ceiling in kitchen is leaking again... wrote construction company that gave us the new bathroom and replaced the ceiling.

The neightbor I had a not fun conversation with last week had been doing yard work and cleaning out her garage with family to help, had a heart attack this weekend hopes to get out Tues. I do not think that will happen.

Taking a short break in between running errands and going to work.

Helia ~ Yes, the eagles have come back to Iowa. We had not seen them before over in the state park we went to yesterday, but once we thought about it, it made sense. When DH used to work in The Big City business district, he would frequently see some eagles hunting right downtown on the river that runs through it. And, of course, the eagle nest camera link that I've posted previously is in Decorah, Iowa. It is more common for me to see hawks flying over the fields when I'm driving on my local errands, but eagles are not that far away. It is fun to see them, knowing that it has taken some effort for the species to recover from past dangers.


I'm fighting the temptation to take a nap. I know I didn't get enough sleep last night, but my alarm clock has become somewhat undependable and I don't want to risk being late for work. I will drink an iced coffee and maybe put a little chocolate with it for a bit of extra caffeine.

I can look through a box of fabric, too. That will help keep me awake, as long as I keep an eye on the clock. OK, maybe I'd better set a timer.

I gave in to the temptation for a little nap, then I never really got my energy back. It was almost two when dd and I got home from pedicures and I napped probably 45 min? Then went to Lowes for light bulbs and pansies - trying to spruce up for the weekend. I need to get moving again.

-change light bulbs in laundry room
-change kitchen light bulb
-on front porch, clean out planter a bit and plop new pansies in, water them (they wouldn't last long if these temps continue, but will look festive for the weekend and a little longer. Probably in a month I need to get the red geraniums in.)
-fold two loads of sheets that are dry, start a load of laundry
-purge and wipe out inside refrigerator

bw2, I'm off the hook for dinner, except for myself. I offered to make something that ds wanted to eat and he said he would rather fix something for himself or go for fast food. DD is asleep on the couch so I can't discuss with her. I'm just proceeding with what I need to be doing - my energy is decent so I'd rather keep going.

-take a look at the lamp in GR - see if I can superglue the weight back into the bottom of it.
-outside, finish clean up of raised bed for tomatoes
-fold another lol that is in dryer, reboot laundry from washer over and start a load of delicates (ds will probably want to do his laundry tomorrow)
-update today's li&t and work up lists for rest of the week
-clear kitchen table and work on a centerpiece for it (play with pretty springtime things!)

And for a bonus point, feed the poor patient ddogs.

Elizabeth, how wild that your car needed work and you were uphill from a Firestone. Well, if it was going to be expensive, at least there could be some convenience!

Oh, Nancy, how rough for your neighbor. I think a lot of emergency room happenings are in early spring, when people start getting out, determined to do outdoor work.

I wasted no time on temptation and took the nap first.

Flowers - I'm thinking about it. Today HRH found a photo of dd with his cousin's child when they were little. Someone had posed them in front of my flower garden, blooming beside the kitchen steps - so pretty. I'd love to have annuals there again. A companion thought is that I'd love for the hens to have a new section of grass for their own and let their run grow back for a while. I asked HRH what he thought of fencing the area and letting them tear it up to hearts' content through April, planning to plant in first week of May or so. Hmmm... ... I realize I'd lose any beneficial bugs that might be in the ground there. I'd need a scare crow, too - dress some pillows up to sit in a lawn chair or something.

So is Lady M houehold on spring break already? Ours is not for several weeks.

What. A. Day.
Boy... I am exhausted and dh is pretty much wavering between crying and screaming in pain. He really does need knee replacement surgery, and today ordered a -- this is not a misprint -- $600 thing that is supposed to give relief "or your money back." * sheesh * We shall see.

We spent -- strike that -- dh/ds/stranger (man who bought the furniture, recommended by good friend) spent approx. 3 hours loading furniture. Granted, ds & stranger did most of it, but dh was on his feet all of that time, and up and down steps a good bit.
I spent those three hours occupying dgs. (DDIL is still working this week.)
Then -- grocery store for boxes, bank to deposit the stranger's money (We didn't do quite as well as we hoped, but we were not really disappointed.)
Then to McD's b/c I knew dgs had probably had nothing except milk all morning. He ate his "go-gurt" and a few french fries, but refused the chicken nuggets b/c they forgot dipping sauce (ds explained later).
Played/watched dgs play for another hour or so, until ds got through with music lessons.
Wmart.
Regular groceries/etc... plus I bought some garcinia cambogia (sp???) after much hesitation and back-and-forth over it. Beautician says it works but she admits to gaining weight back when she quit taking it. Also said it gave her more energy. I am very hesitant about this... $9.99 for 100 pills. That sounds great, right? Get this -- you are supposed to take FOUR PILLS thirty minutes before EVERY SINGLE MEAL. Yes, I knew that before I bought it. That is ridiculous. I don't know if I will even take it for a week. That is just ridiculous.

Calgon take me away.

Talked to dmom a couple times. She got a rx for bladder infection... she would love for us (ds/dh) to take curio cabinet from dmil's house to her house and then take her china cabinet to dgmother's house.
DH says that ain't happening. He would love to do that, he says, but he cannot... he is no longer able to do anything for anybody...
I hope he feels better soon.

And I would love to reply to each and every post here, but that ain't happening either. My head hurts and I am just beyond comprehending anything. Must lie down.

Noticed the board was super slow on Saturday. Thought it was me. I just posted or changed threads then watched the TV until it responded.

Blessed, is your cold any better? I am still coughing but less.

Lucylee, does your DH ice his knees?

On Sat afternoon I started to get "crampy" and just hoped everything was ok. It was not too bad. I worked around the yard all day Sat. and was just worn out and asked DH if he wanted to go out. Yes, so we did that. I ate wisely, some chicken and salad. But I was up and down all Sat. night as the cramps got worse and worse and worse. I know it wasn't the food, because it had started before we went out.

By Sunday it was a little better. Went to church, but knowing what I had to do that day, didn't stay long. I had to fix the snack for DH to take to the small group he has been attending. I baked brownies and made fruit and fruit dip. I also did a lol which had to be soaked and scrubbed first, then washed and hung up. I had 2 days' dishes to do. Sunday night the pains got so bad I ended up taking something for it and sitting with my heated rice pad.

I have a little spot in my intestines that acts up sometimes. It hasn't been problematic for 4 years. I remember exactly what was going on when it happened so know it was 4 years. I've had twinges now and then but nothing like this. Anyway, the pain pill knocked me out and I was able to sleep. It's been over 30 years since I've had this checked, so I really need to look into it again. It's better today but not 100%.

I did whatever I was able to do today. Got a mess at my desk straightened out. Went to the bank. Then I started working 4 1/2 hours on a scheduling problem for DH. It's an EPA license he needs. At one point I called someone who couldn't answer my questions, but did assure me others have these problems, and they get these calls often, every day, all day long. I got him scheduled for a class on Wed. It wasted the whole afternoon doing that.

I went to bed about 5 and slept a few hours. I just ate an egg. Right now I don't know what to eat that won't cause problems. I know what to avoid, walnuts, seeds, cornbread. Too much fiber is as bad as too little. When this flairs, I just don't know what to eat. I did eat some beets. Weird diet. Tomorrow will be better.
