I fell back into the genealogy rabbit hole and haven't been seen since.

:D

((LadyM and family)) I'm sure this was very difficult for you all.

We had a phone call from ds telling us that things are moving very slowly where he is. We won't be traveling to see them for a while.

So dd and I decided to bring "up to the front burner" a project we've been waiting to tackle: a new chest of drawers (8-drawer) for her room. We went out to find the IKEA that is closest to us. An adventurous trip in itself. Then we adventured around the place - what an eye-opening trek. On, and on, and on... ... We ate, although we were less impressed with the food than with the efficiency of the dining area. Found the 3 boxes that made up the chest, among Indiana Jones-like towering stacks of warehoused items. What a long wait line for the cash register - only 2 registers open in a huge place like that.

Everyone had insisted to us that "men in blue shirts" would be available at the loading area. There were none. I left dd and drove the truck there, backed in at an ideal spot. Waited, searched - there were no blue-shirted men anywhere. No customers were getting any help. So dd and I worked to get the heavy boxes situated in the bed of the truck. No small feat, and dd broke two nails. Home again and she and I got it into the house by ourselves.

She set about to open all and sort the contents, armed with the reassurance (from friends, by text) that it is like big legos. A few splinters and bandaids later she was a little deterred, but kept on. I'd say she's halfway there. (It's probably smarter to fetch such a large item on one day and then put it together beginning the next morning. But she was just too excited to begin. ) I rather enjoy seeing this sweat equity on her part. I found her a youtube about putting together the same item in a different color, and I think that helped her "see" the big picture.

Got other TaDas accomplished - the birth announcement sent off for the church bulletin. Some reports finished and submitted, for church work.

A can of sugared, carbonated drink fell to the floor of the kitchen today and began to spin wildly under it's own power, spraying the kitchen. Quite a cautionary tale against sodas. I've mopped twice but nothing works except getting down on hands and knees with a wet paper towel and a dry one and taking turns. Kitchen's still not right, but I think I've found all the surprising spots it hit by now.

What a day, Harriet! Wow.
DS plans to make a trip to that store before long. His online research tells him they have the best shelves for record album storage (vinyl LPs). He thinks the drive to Atlanta will be worth the savings in shipping (and he and ddil will enjoy the excuse for the day trip.) so we shall see. Hope his experience is better than yours, though!

All laundry hanging to dry... Not much else to show for the day, though.
Tomorrow is another day.

Hi everyone! I am at the computer again, this time at home. I have been to the library and done catboxes and taken trash to the curb. LOL is drying now. I still need to do webwork and get meds into the cat (oh, gee, fun).

My friend with the chickens from Hades is going to be even more offended by me, because I am going to send her an email she won't like. No, I am not going to say horrible things to her. The problem is that, today on the train, I realized what has been attacking her rabbits. One has been killed and another just had to have its leg amputated due to an infected injury. The latter was about $1400. Who else thinks its her rooster? She won't believe it and will accuse me of hating her chickens (true), but I am convinced of it.

LadyMaverick, I am so sorry to hear about your dog. However, I do admire your guts in making what is never an easy decision.

Harriet make me LOL thinking of spin the bottle - rocket propelled!

I should also do some car replacement research. Bleah.

I fell into the net flicks series, came up a couple time bc the net was not loading. Got a walk in and some dailies.
My system seems to be doing a reset of sorts to night. That seems to be helping.
I will be turning in early but it is not time for my evening meds yet.
Our roo with the sore leg/foot cannot survice the hens unless they are willing
so the hens have been happy they have ganged up on him to keep him in line in the past. I had him stay in the roo house a while longer today to rest his leg it has helped.

lucylee, supposedly, according to reviews, we "saved a fortune in shipping" on this chest by traveling there. So I am not surprised your ds is also hearing this. We actually had no troubles except for the long register lines, if I had only gone back inside and insisted that help be called for the loading. I would advise, depending upon the size of each box, and whether he chooses wood (heavy), that your ds definitely plan on getting help at loading. The loading areas were not set up in ways first-time users could figure out how to get items from walkway/ramp over to vehicles. The ladies beside us were having an awful time - at least I had an agile teen who could hop in and out of the truck bed. This chest came in three boxes and even with the weight/size spread over the three, since it is wood, each box was still unweildy.

Everything Dee and others have said about the store is quite true. It is a destination. Showrooms are really something to see.

Don't know what I'm doing up at this hour. Waiting on my hair to dry a little, I guess.

LadyM, so sorry about recent events with dpet. Especially if this was out of the blue and completely unexpected.

Still shaking my head at the rooster stories, Elizabeth. Lady is totally clueless as is the other friend.

Yesterday there was a big mess-up around here. I was running to other jobsite to pick up DH & take to another truck location. Got lost and went up and down and up and down and around and up and down and just couldn't find the cross street I was sure was off ___ street... and call after call after call to his phone went into his pocket where phone was on mute and he didn't feel the vibrate. When I picked him up after finally finding it, he said the one wrong thing... bam! ok I'm done helping for the near future.

So far I've been given a fresh new bag of pretzels :o and a flower plucked from garden in a vase on the counter. His version of appology. Sheesh.

Boy something like that sure takes the wind out of my sails and all progress grinds to a halt.

Today I went to see my lady friend at nursing home again because last week she asked if I'd get her a couple puzzle books. 88 years old and she does those Sudoko puzzles and I could never accomplish even one of them!

Stopped at library, finally found the one book I'd been looking for at the new section. Got groceries. Made a pot of chicken/turkey soup. Spent too much time with my nose in a book. Destressing I call it. Good night all.

I'm up because ddogs have been restless - now they are back asleep and here I am still wide awake.

Concerned because had message from favorite dcousin that other cousin has supposedly set up lunch out for mother tomorrow. And since tomorrow is the day I usually see her, I let myself get involved with it. I've taken her out the last three weeks for dr appointments, and it's not easy to get her out, beginning with the fact that she probably won't remember she's going, if dcousin has talked to her about it at all. OTOH, they want to have a nice lunch out and go by the cemetery where ddad is buried - favorite dcousin's husband is also buried there near my dad so it's a nice outing for both. The cemetery will be beautiful with dogwoods and azaleas beginning to bloom.

And I spent too much of today on genealogy, thinking I could add the errands on to my day tomorrow.

Going to try to get back to sleep. I heard Moses whimpering so may need to comfort him, not time for meds yet.
