It is a quiet day here.
Harriet is off meeting her new granddaughter so that will be a fun day for her, no matter how stressful the long drive in both directions.
I'm home now and legs up, icing my knees. For the first church service, I did the readings and the prayers, plus lead singing (we can't call it a choir any more, it is just dh, CM and I and CM can't sing if she's playing the music, especially when it is the organ because she is still learning how to play that.
We had a nice coffee hour, then I had my lunch in the church basement (just cereal, berries and milk today because I had nothing else to bring.)
Picked up mail at the General Store and then headed off to my first retirement home service. One member is in the hospital so I'll have to track her down tonight. Thankfully, that should only mean two phone calls. Everyone else is hale and hearty. The one that was in the hospital last summer is celebrating her 99th birthday today so we sang to her. I had a chance to meet another of her granddaughters and catch up with the one that attends all the time.
The second retirement home service went OK but still low numbers. I told them I'll be back next week. Can't remember if that was booked but I'm making the executive decision to try two weeks in a row. I'm thinking if the services are more regular we may build a following.
After that we went to Best Buy so dh could trade the cover for his tablet (it didn't seem to fit but the issue was he wasn't pressing it hard enough and now it is locked in place.)
We decided to have an early dinner at McD's since we didn't want to cook and didn't feel like eating out either.
Once home, despite being sore from standing for 2 hours, I decided we had to get out and enjoy the glorious day. So we went for a 45 minute walk along the river. The ice broke up today so is only along the shore but the middle of the river is open. As well, the geese are returning so we could hear them and other bird song. It was a lovely walk since we've found a new path (last summer I couldn't walk so we only biked on the bike path but there's a walking path right along the water.) We walked from our building, along the water to the beach and then back home through the streets. Unfortunately, I needed 2.5 miles to hit my target for the day and it is only 2 miles. So I should either spend time doing tidying and cleaning or get up on the treadmill. Or just give up since I'm already over 30K short for the month.
Now I'm icing. I'm going to buy myself the season of Downton Abbey so I can watch that while ironing and other boring chores. But I might wait until I'm more awake.
Next Sunday we have 4 services so that's a bit much. The week after that, just 2 (dh is doing the music at both services for 2 weeks in a row.)

Re: Sunday Funday
Hello everyone.
LadyM, that was very nice of you to help the ladies in the kitchen.
I was up early and had time to take a nice bath and do a pedicure. I always put the p. off since it's hard with my toenails...but they always feel better when I do. Got a bed stripped and laundry going before I left also.
Took my shopping list with me to church and my 3 library books read for the drop-off bin. I'm finding I have to stop less at the store now that I'm keeping an ongoing list on the refrigerator. I always knew it would work if I did that, but I'm just so darn stubborn. If I have a routine going, I'll continue it forever even if it's not working well. Now I'm stopping much less at the store to get what I need. And not running out of stuff in between.
Got the rest of the bed clothes washed and hung out. Replaced the torn mattress protector (picked new one up at store) and got bed put back together. Got the garbage out for pickup.
Sunday I usually try to get things organized for the week ahead, and take a nap, and I managed that plus some other things. Saturday I was such a slug I knew the week would be off to a bad start if I didn't do something today!

Re: Sunday Funday
Just had a long phone call with dfs. Now that basic training is further along (just 3 more weeks to go) he gets more time for phone calls. He manages to call his wife each day and I know ds has received calls as well, along with his bio parents. He still doesn't know which coast he'll be posted to for sea training but he will end up out west for his trade training (electrical technician.) His shoulder is in really bad shape so he's just hoping he can hold things together until after basic training, otherwise he'll be failed and have to do it again. He injured it 8 weeks ago so has got this far without full use (including his obstacle training and his long hike with full gear.)
I think I might tidy up the kitchen and then head to bed. I haven't moved since my last post, except to move from one side of the couch to the other in order to answer the phone.

LadyM, I agree that a small push mower to make oddities of the lawn safer to mow is a wise move.
Twins', I like that title.
Dee, you were certainly right about me, and so was Kathryn.
5 hours total of driving, with dd16 taking the last leg. But a complete joy in the middle. A beautiful, serene granddaughter, proud ds and stable, positive news from the medical front.
On the way back dd and I were starving and there was a K and W sign by the side of the road (the traditional cafeteria that we always had in our area, several locations, until the last few years). Dd was able to use her phone to track the address down and get us there and then back to the highway. It was out of the way but such nice comfort food.
A new week about to start. I'd like the coming week to have exercise added back to my schedule. I think I'm well enough to start back.

Hmmm....Everyone's out having fun?

Re: Sunday Funday
Glad for the safe trip, the stop for comfort food, and especially for the "complete joy in the middle." Prayers for you all, Harriet.
