No congratulations due dd16 - but thanks, lucylee!
Dinner is over. S and R and baby J just left. Now, I need to start laundry and do some grading. I'm hoping dh makes a nice fire again, though I'll probably be falling asleep in my chair if he does.

Re: Sunday Superlatives
Today was touching Sunday, delicious Sunday, challenging Sunday, disappointing Sunday, and heart-stopping Sunday.
Our church family was in fine form. The congregation was to pick the opening and closing hymn and the same person called out twice. When the minister pointed out he shouldn't get two picks, others called out the same number in solidarity. The first was In the Bulb there is a Flower and the second was What a Friend We have in Jesus. This man's son is dying of brain cancer and we're going to sing of hope and comfort and pray with the family as often as we are called upon to do so.
We had a nice coffee hour and changed at the church into hiking clothes. Given that I could barely walk, the minister was surprised we were going hiking.
First was the delicious fish and chips. We really do think they may be the best we get and we travel around the world eating fish and chips.
The hike was challenging for me. It was about 2 miles, maybe 2.25 and I had to go very slowly and rely on my poles. We walked to a boardwalk out into a wetland but there wasn't anything to see so we continued on up a hill to overlook the wetland (pretty) and then back to the parking lot. On the up and downhill parts I was literally taking a step, pause, another step. On the straight-aways I was a bit faster. Total time was 75 minutes.
I iced the worse knee in the car on the way back to the town. We were looking for ice cream but neither of us could remember where the shop was and so gave up. That was the disappointment (as well, we didn't see any ships.)
Finally the heart-stopping part of the day was watching the last period of the hockey game. Our team lost but they were amazing. Montreal's goalie was just more amazing. So, my Tuesday night is free now (no game to watch at the arena.)
I've iced my knees again and will go to bed now.
Tomorrow we have an early start since the power will be cut off some time after 9 a.m.

Re: Sunday Superlatives
We had a nice Sunday today. Ds-J and ddil-Y came themselves; they brought a B oston M kt pulled port dinner, which was delicious. We haven't had a B M meal for a long time. Dgd-M13 was at a friend's birthday party and dgd-K20 was working at the hospital like every Sunday.
After they left I took a nap while dh watched the Rays v. Blue Jays game. We've been watching some of the NHL playoffs, and ds-J and ddil-Y like soccer. Both their dgirls played soccer when they were younger; now they are into Highland Dance and bagpipes!
Dh & I are fine, thank you Lynlee, Harmony Lucy. We did have a stressful week, but next week will be better.
Harriet, I'm glad your dd and young man enjoyed the prom (except the music)! Those are memories that last a lifetime!
Dee, congratulations to dsil on the new job. Good news that you probably won't be moving soon!
Nice to see LadyM and everyone here today!

helia, that's nice that you found Carolina bbq. In general, it is one of the Carolina styles if it is pork and if the sauce is vinegar based. An oversimplification. Twins' Mom could explain how Tennessee style sauces differ better than I could, but I believe they are more likely to have a tomato base.
Yes, the varying public Universities here battle for attention and ranking in several areas of study. We are blessed to have so many.
LadyM, it is good to see your handle.
Early to bed, early to rise. Sunday night is the important night for me to get in that bed and have a proper start on the week, so good night all. Tomorrow I have an appt to meet the new dr in the hormone dr practice, fresh from completing the Boston Marathon, with name in the paper and everything. Sigh. So this will make 3 very physically fit drs for me.
Maybe I would rather have doctors who are not so fit but perhaps more empathetic? Hmmmm... ...

Re: Sunday Superlatives
I am still plugging away. We are down to one week before we leave. We are both dreading this surgery but it has to be done. After the first day of quitting, dh is in better spirits. Although he is having a terrible time with his right knee. Standing and sitting he is fine, but to stoop or get onto his knees, is out of the question. He is off baby aspirin and all pain relieving otc meds, until sometime after the surgery, so he is just having to suffer through this except for putting ice on it.
Dd2 has decided that she must have adult ADD, the way she jumps from project to project. I have never thought I had that tendency but getting ready for this surgery, I seem to jump around and have a lot of things half done.
We had to go to the town an hour away last week to pick up dh's new strength of allergy shot med and on the way home, we stopped at the small town that has the floor covering company that we bought our carpet from. We brought 4 samples home. We quickly narrowed it down to 2. We loved the maple but my 2 hutches, table and chairs are maple. They just blended together with no contrast. So we went with the hickory with a satin finish. She measured on Friday and sent us an estimate yesterday. They won't be able to do ours until at least the first week in June. With dh's recovery time, that will work great for us.
Last night both dds and I went to see the movie, The Age of Adeline. It was really good.
Yesterday and today the little girls each had 2 soccer games. Next weekend they each have 2 games and then they will be done.
The haircut before last, the gal decided I needed a bob. The sides are longer and the back layered. That time it looked fine. This last time, I hate it. I feel like I have dog ears. So I decided to change hairdressers. I have lucked out, a gal that started doing my hair over 20 years ago, has moved back to town and opened a shop. I have an appt on Thursday.
I finally got the new bedding on the bed today. We still need to hang the curtains and valances.
Guess I better get off of here and go work on a schedule for the week.

LOL at the 'twerking' comment, Harriet!
And -- movie review -- Little Boy, is sooo good!!! WWII era faith-based, family-based (it's produced by Roma Downey & Mark Burnett)... adorable "little boy" stars in it... It's just really good.
