Hello, villagers ~
This is one of the days when I am calling on important tips I've learned on this forum over the years.
I started the day with plenty of energy, but then work was brutal.
The library patrons couldn't have been nicer, it wasn't that. The challenge was being open to the public for 4 hours, which meant that with opening & closing duties I had to be on site over 5 hours. On Saturdays we only have 1 person scheduled, so as long as people keep coming in the door, there is no way to take a break.
Somewhere in there I was able to sit down at the counter for 15-20 minutes but there were still patrons coming up to ask for help and calling on the phone, so I didn't get a chance to eat my snack. I didn't even have time to finish my 1 cup of coffee!
Add to that, after the 1st hour I didn't want hot coffee anyway because the central air is still not hooked up even though it was scheduled to be done 2 weeks ago. We have fans going, but the heat & humidity have built up enough in the building that it's causing problems with the computers and the copier keeps overheating and having paper jams. I don't know what the actual temperature was, but the local news website says it's 76 now so the high this afternoon must have been over 80.
By the time I got home, I was beat and my feet were killing me. I had taken a 24 oz. bottle of water to work and sipped that throughout my shift, but it wasn't enough.
I could hear
Harriet's voice in my head saying,
"Drink more water!" so that's the first thing I did, grabbed a big glass of water and drank it straight down.
Then DH took me to the diner for our very late lunch (after 3pm). I asked for another large glass of water there instead of soda. My eyes were bigger than my stomach, though. I managed to eat a cheeseburger, some coleslaw, and a few fries. I gave the rest of the fries to DH.
Once we were back home, I turned on the computer and sat down to check email. I started to read a blog, but I kept feeling the pressure of all the chores OMM.

I didn't want to sit for the rest of the day, but I was still in enough pain that I didn't know how much work I'd be able to do.
I remembered
Dee's signature line,
"Begun is half done, so begin!" I decided I had enough energy to go downstairs and turn on the dryer for 20 minutes to finish the load in it. While I was already down there, I opened the washer and took out the things that can't go in the dryer, and hung those up.
I came back upstairs and made a cup of iced coffee. While I was sitting with that and reading a little more of the blog, I thought about
eating the elephant 1 bite at a time. By then it was time to flipflop the laundry, so down the stairs I went to hang up the shirts from the dryer, move the wet clothes from the washer, and start another load of shirts.
In the office, finished the iced coffee and knew it was way too early to think about going to sleep. That made me remember that we have flannel sheets on the bed and they are going to be much too warm tonight ... but I didn't know if I had the energy to do all the work of changing the sheets. Sigh. Oh, I have to go upstairs to go to the bathroom, let me get up there to take care of that and then I'll see how I feel.
Oh, clean sheets on the bed will feel soooo good tonight. Hey, the cat is not on the bed right now. OK, I can do this, I'll change the sheets.
Done!
Now I don't have to do anything else for the rest of the evening.
Except there's this load of towels all ready to go in the washer. And now the dryer is buzzing again. Hmmph.
Well, ok, I'll go downstairs 1 more time to pull that load out of the dryer, move the wet clothes over, and start the load of towels. As long as I'm down there, I will fold the things coming out of the dryer. I won't bring the basket upstairs, though -- nope, not gonna do it!

I can put them away tomorrow!
The dishes are going to wait until tomorrow as well ... unless I decide to eat another bite of that elephant later tonight before bedtime ...
