SERENE SUNDAY

May a day that is serene for each of you here in our little village, be yours.

I slept a "little" better last night, but sciatic nerve got going a few times and would wake me up out of a sound sleep. I'm up and half dressed. Bed is made. Now time for slacks, shoes & footwear, then meds. Need to eat breakfast soon -and as usual I'm hesitant to go out to the kitchen if dsonil is still asleep. But I have to go soon anyway -BS is 75 this morning. Any lower than that and I'll be stumbling to the kitchen.

DD found several errors in the bulletin last night. I'm trying to decide whether to just go to church early and reprint them. When we were doing them on Friday the office was filled with people and the copier rep -showing us all the new things to use on it. Pastor was in a hurry to get going and he finally said to just print it. Some things jumped when we did other things evidently and I didn't have time to really spell check. He'd left out one whole part of the order of service which I didn't notice with all the activity around me. And I was jumping up and down to look at something or to 'get' something on the copier. Thought we might make a game of it today and ask people how many mistakes they can find.

Dee: My sleep efficiency was actually worse, but I slept longer so it balances out and I don't feel too knackered. Mid-afternoon will be the test. Thankfully, I only have one afternoon service today. On the other hand, that means I'm paid -$2.00 for the work when you take into mileage. Still, I'm looking forward to being home with time left in the afternoon to do something.

My tracker fell off in the 'night' so I expected a really good sleep efficiency but either my tossing and turning on top of it triggered restlessness, or it didn't fall off until dh turned the radio on. He said he waited until I was stirring before turning on the radio so maybe I knocked it off at that point.

I did my stretches before bed and had heat on my leg as I was going to sleep because the muscles were sore as a result.

Will do a round of physio before heading off for church in 2 hours.

Nice weather here today and, as a result, a nice view, the kind that makes one stop and stare.

Hope to have a serene walk or bike ride later today. In the meantime, I should get off the computer so my departure for church will lean more towards being serene than hectic. My books/service are at the door, my clothes are laid out but I still have to eat breakfast, make a healthy, low cal lunch and s2s as well as do physio which takes about 20 minutes. At least the new exercises are shorter than the old ones.

Yesterday I ran out to do errands and then stopped by uncles for the wild life people to come set another trap for the skunk family that is living under a small cement area. I waited 2 hours from 5 to 7 and they never showed up or called but I was able to visit with him. He still is full of bologna but it is fascinating how far he will go - can't say it doesn't make it interesting.

Ahhhh.....quiet. The little ones are down for a nap. I have my feet up and a DP next to me. Time to rest and regroup.

DGD3 had a melt-down this morning at church. When the screaming started we went outside and sat in the car for about 1/4 of the service while she got over it and put on a different attitude. This is the 2nd melt-down DGD3 has had at church. The first one was long and extensive a few weeks ago. Today's melt-down was mild compared to before so it gives me hope that she is getting a clue that it isn't a fun thing to do. Melt down = tantrum

Otherwise the day has went smoothly. We ate lunch at a sit-down restaurant with no problems. Both kids behaved. I brought about 1/2 of my lunch home in a take-out box because I didn't have time to eat it. Either I have turned into a very slow eater or I spend more time than I realize taking care of little ones needs.

Last night storms were nerve racking. We were surrounded by tornadoes (3 touched down within few miles of us). DH was focused on MPB so I was alone putting kids in the cellar and trying to collect the things that we would need if everything was destroyed. We lost internet and TV reception so tracking the storms was a challenge while in the cellar. The radio station even went off the air. FB was my best source of information. I love the way the energy rises during a good storm, but the violent storms with tornadoes are too intense to be enjoyable. I don't think I will ever want to become a storm chaser.

I continue to develop menu planning system when time allows. I am enjoying it very much and can't wait to add more to it. I am close to finishing phase 1 of Breakfast. I am now starting to develop the next phase (ingredients) of the menu planning system. I will continue to add other meals (besides breakfast).

stay safe d lady! Is it sunday school she is having a meltdown at or the service. I understand those completely. I once had a little girl hide under our piano and scream as her way of having a tantrum every time. She was a sensitive child. hope next sunday has no little one meltdowns.

floor took over an hour to do in kitchen. I had to sweep, vacuum, scrub and wipe twice the wood floor - dogs do a number on a floor

I have to leave at 4:30 but I hope I will be back again.

Very serene day here... Ddil came and got dgs shortly after we ate lunch so we've just been resting ever since... Newspaper, naps, ballgames.

Glad to see the serene nature of some of your days. Mine, too, seemed serene. I cleaned some in the office closet and came in the bedroom to take a break. I tried to read and dozed off -I evidently slept for nearly 2 hours!! My body must need it. All was serene until I went to the living room and dd said, "Let me bring you up to date"......as she started to read some texts between her and gd's 'guardian'. Things are now anything but serene and I, for one, and dd/dsonil for 2 & 3 can hardly wait for serenity to take over.

Had a nice service this morning -albeit more mistakes than I wanted to count in the bulletin. It really became funny. As it turned out even the scripture was wrong. (I had checked our pew bible page against the printed verses -correct). Problem was when he started referring to certain number of verses -the dialogue was anything but what he was saying.

Also had a problem before church started with one couple who have obviously some background stuff going on -they just started coming about 2 months ago. At any rate I guess the sheriff was called and that whole incident took some twists and turns. Must be in the 'water' today.

DD and I went to O Garden after church to have lunch. Yum! Then went to A ldi's to pick up some things for dsonil's lunches.

DD has been printing the fronts of the 200+ shirts for DS-A. Dsonil went out and 'helped' her but with only about a dozen shirts. That will be a good job to have behind them -especially with it so hot. Even with the garage doors open, it's hot and they have to be closed before the evening bugs/mosquitoes come out.

Having grilled chicken and roasted potatoes for dinner (on the grill -well of course the chicken is but so are the potatoes/onions).

Chicken for dinner for us but we are biking over to a local restaurant.

I've been working on plans for the vacation. We have two ferry rides to take. One is tricky and requires the stay in France since the ferry runs only once a day. We'll go over on a Sunday and come back on the Monday. I hesitated due to cost (ferry is $200 and they ding us for parking as well since it is a passenger ferry) and inconvenience but dh encouraged me to go for it. It is a chance we'll probably never get again so we should take the time now. Besides, it means we'll have been to France twice this year, but not to Europe!

The second ferry ride is to Labrador. We could go over and back in one day but the accommodation on the Labrador side is marginally better than the Newfoundland side so we'll stay overnight.

Now to bike for supper - dh just phoned and made reservations so we'll be sure to get in.

I made biscuits & gravy for late lunch when I got back from groc. Shopping got a watch too. Hubby is taking it easy still in recoup mode getting over the crud.

I wrote a letter to my sis.
I fed the hens, net was out this am again.
Got 8 eggs today and yesterday both.

We had rain last night it is very humid today.
I am happy with my progress today got my jounral done.

Quiet day here in SHEville.

Quiet here in my neighbourhood too. Biked to the chicken restaurant (The Foolish Chicken is its name which we think is hilarious.) Biked to frozen yoghurt after that for dessert and then to the grocery store to pick up salad for dinner tomorrow night. Tomorrow is a stat holiday so all the stores will be closed.

Now to get Quicken up to date and to pay some bills. Then I'll be ready for bed methinks.
