Sunny, thanks for the link yesterday. I was amused by the orchestra's fund-raising imagination (determination). Elizabeth, your poor little niece! (and family) So glad you could be there to help talk that out. Kathryn, so sorry to hear your sister is in the hospital and hope her leg heals quickly. Correction - senior friend - I actually didn't think that sounded right! I had mis-read.
I have so much going on this week, but I truly hope to get some things done "To a T". Dd35's family arrives Friday. Dstepdil is going to drop by Thursday and see how she might help me with some projects. Quilts need to be rotated. Dstepson is also going to try to come because a toilet is not acting right. Lots to do for church - was over there yesterday, too. Expecting calls from dcousins who will need input.
Was confused for a sec. Thought I had missed Kathryn's "sister" in the hospital. Had to go back over posts. Think it's "senior friend". But I hope she heals fast too.
Had to get up about 6 because of a big cramp in my inner thigh. And I actually had a pretty good night's sleep. Woke up at 2:30 for a 'break' and went right back to sleep. Nice!
Think I'll make a W mart run this morning. Have to get a couple of gallons of water and just a few other things. I'm trying to temper any buying and seeing if I run out of a needed item before I leave for up home. And then the question is, can I do without it? I have a certain juice (50 cal) that I drink with my meds, but if I run out I could substitute water. Had creamer on my list -just opened a bottle but chances are it'll last me. There's a 1/2 full bottle of SF French vanilla that I can use. Dsonil hasn't been using creamer since he started drinking the cappuccino in the morning. We notice we're also using a lot less water so less waste there. Part of that is because dh isn't here, but mostly we're not wasting making pots of coffee that don't get completely consumed.
Talked to my db yesterday. DD and I are going up to see them next Monday (know it's Memorial Day but at least dd will be off). It's so relaxing where they live and we both enjoy their company. They just got back from being up home to visit their daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughter. He said he thought they'd be going back up late July/early August so will get to see them then -she says hopefully. Going to make a point. Dniece only lives about 25-30 miles from us.
Thanks, Dee. I corrected up above. I was reading too fast this morning on CUOP and didn't think it sounded right but was willing to start worrying!
I have a live seminar to watch in a few minutes. Need to get HRH out of the LR or he can just watch with me. (exercise - not usually his cup of tea). I purchased it but the rebates are worth more than the cost so just too good to resist, even in a busy week. If I don't get to watch it completely while live, it will stream for 24 hours.
So for me, exercise is Next Up.
Morning Daily Card and school run done.
Fed the African Violet.
Called ds - disappointed to find he will be out of town this weekend.
Unfortunately, my sister is more than a bike ride away so, yes, it is a senior from the retirement home.
Eventually, I'll probably be doing duty as Twins does with my sister far away, unless I can convince her to move here when she needs to be institutionalized. Hoping that is another 10+ years away, though. With the Alzheimers in our family and the fact that she is single, she will fall to me, until I can't deal with her anymore due to my own Alzheimers. The odds of it skipping us are too slim to bother counting on. And unless medical science has a breakthrough soon, we can't count on that either. Mom had signs in the early 60's (as does my sister but fewer than mom had) but needed daily care from my Dad about 70 and institutional care from 75. My sister is turning 64 this year.
I'm up. Bed made, clothes laid out, clean dishes put away, Quicken updated, sponsored my niece for a dragon boat race raising money for breast cancer. Tea and chocolate is almost done.
Time for breakfast, s2s, hopefully vacuum bedrooms and water plants. Then head off for physio, home to change and back out to take bus downtown to lunch and hair cuts (but just a bang trim for me.) I might shop for a summer backpack while I'm downtown because my current backpack purse is too small. I need something that can fit my tablet and water bottle as well.
Hmmm..... Well, I've been exercising to a T so far this week. Yesterday was an hour of walking to work with a backpack. I took a different more scenic route that turned out to be a lot of hills. This morning, I've gone for a 30 minute jog. And I have a date to walk with dfriend B tomorrow morning.
I miss Twins. I suppose she's returning from the genealogy conference soon, and I believe she had another trip - to the beach, I'm thinking? - planned soon after that.
Done:
- got dd16 up; she slept through her alarm or something
- fed ddogs for dd16
- checked email and web sites
- started looking at routes and hotels for my trip to Boston in 1.5 weeks. Dfriends of ours here go to Boston regularly b/c that is where she is from, and they drive through Canada. Is that a good option? Does ds want to have his passport with him this summer? Or, I could take it back home after depositing him. Does this route take me near Kathryn?
- went for a jog with dh
- had 1 mug of tea and a banana
Next:
- a.m. routine
- finish menu plan and groc. list
- groc. store
Later:
- finalize quiz for class for Wed.
- prep for class today, including review material
- other things on my weekly li$t
- leave around 2:30 - take bus to work
- payroll
Dinner will just be dd16 and me tonight. Dh will be out at a work-related dinner.
**Adding - just checked the Canadian route more carefully, and we'd cross back into the US before we even got to Toronto so we wouldn't go near Kathryn at all.
Good morning all! I actually got to the train in a reasonable time - no mad dash! Last night I did attempt my shopping errands. Successful mission on lamp replacement and kitty litter. But, oh those pants! All I want are black pants, not polyester as it takes on lint and cat hair, and not capris which I HATE. (Why do I hate capris? My ankles get cold and I wear socks ALL THE TIME. Preferably knee high socks. Never ankle socks, ever, just too cold.) The last store was in the same parking lot as a fabric store. I got black dye and hope to salvage the existing pants. Forgot completely about the grocery store until I unloaded the car. Nothing critical, so I postponed it. Once home, I installed the garage door backup battery and did an extreme catbox clean.
I'm not sure what I need to do tonight, as my first task is organize my tasks and assign them to days.
Had to look up dragon boat racing to see what Kathryn's niece is up to.
Good morning.
I have one day off this week and hope to get the house cleaned to a T while DH is out doing business errands. You all sound busy too.
Have a good day, all....
Ramblin'Rose, are you feeling better today? I'm sure the most recent migraine was a disappointing surprise.
That live seminar had technical troubles, so they gave twice the time on streaming as an apology. Not really much of a problem to me. Seeing it "live" was just a novelty since I wasn't intending to ask questions.
I used the time for church desk day, including phone calls to get what should be the last of the address stuff straightened out.
Had a good breakfast that should heal me a little from some of the ravages of lousy eating yesterday. Yesterday was a pain, for sure.
At this point with Weeklies on hold to consider best order, I'm thinking I might take a new tack and work on "The Most Embarrassing First". Do ya'll ever try that method?
It dawned on me that dstepdil will undoubtedly open my microwave and assume it's the same as she usually sees. Perhaps I should attack the impressive spill there in advance! Also I believe the front bathroom may have some of that fragrance P and P used to call: "Does it need a little Pine-Sol in there?"
* Called allergy nurse... she suggested increasing my meds -- the shot rx I take -- BUT... that will require approx 10 weeks of supervised shots, until I'm built up to "maintenance" levels again... so... I just don't know about that. Hard to schedule in the 45-min drive each way to see her, don't really want to get involved w/family doctor's office over this -- she said local doctor's office could give the shots also -- so. It's just a decision to think about. I've got about a month more left on this rx, so I'm not going to think about it now. She also said a season "booster" shot might be helpful. I am going to put that in my card file!
* Called dmom. Talked for 64 minutes. She sounded good today, but with the rainy weekend, she said she had been so depressed she was just practically paralyzed with grief. For some reason, rain depresses her, and all her feelings of loss come pouring back on her and she just can't make herself do ANYTHING. But she was much better today.
My PODA:
[ ] exercise
[ ] s2s, color hair
[ ] go buy cookie mix (dcousin called last night and asked me to make cookies for her son's graduation party)
[ ] nursing home tonight
Back home, in my chair, feet elevated, knees being iced. Boy is my left one (and hip) sore!
Physio went well. Lots of hands on work, close supervision of two new exercises. She promised after these two she will not add, only change or substitute. I'm back up to 28 minutes each round, at least 2x per day.
Didn't have time for the heat treatment which was a shame because it meant I left with a sore hip and then had to walk several miles. The pain comes and goes but is back now with a vengeance.
The chip wagon wasn't there again, third month in a row, second gorgeous day in a row so we need to contact the city and find out what has happened. I had chili for lunch instead. The hair stylist trimmed my bangs and then braided my hair beautifully since he had lots of time and wanted to show me what he meant by that braid. I had dh take pictures out on the street because I wasn't sure it would last in the wind until I got home. I didn't wear my hat until the last segment of the walk home. It was so sunny, I finally had to break down and put it on.
We got off the bus one stop early and went to the thrift store for a purse (no luck), the bagel shop for dh (I had an ice cream sandwich), the luggage store for a purse (no luck) and the grocery store. We are home now. Yay!
