Re: Finally Friday Conga
Good morning everyone! Last night, the x came over and tried to get the swamp cooler started. No go. After he and DD13 left, I had really good intentions of getting stuff done. However, when I checked the mail, a neighbor was out and I ended up talking to him for quite a while and enjoying a drink. He does not think my x knows what he is doing on the swamp cooler because he had never heard of anyone replacing the bearings. The x is a mechanical engineer. Also, it is not to his advantage to scam me on the cooler because it makes more work for himself the longer it goes on. He is coming back Sunday to install the parts I pick up tonight. I did get the trash cans in and clean an incredibly dirty stove.
Tonight's errands: get cooler parts yet again, grocery store (no more delays, need tp), and get windshield washer fluid. With all the parts and tools I have had to buy for the cooler, I will need to update Quicken and probably transfer money from savings. Bleah. I may also clean the master bath. I know the zone is front porch, entrance, and DR, but that bathroom is bugging me like the stove was.
Gotta get a complex payroll task done before a 3 pm meeting.
Had a funny misreading while CUOP. The real statement was "Lynlee, I'm glad the travel time is turning out worthwhile for you". I read this as "Lynlee, I'm glad the time travel is turning out worthwhile for you".
Thinking and praying for Booksaver and her family.

I've s2s. Convinced dh to shower. He didn't smell but it was his shower day. He lost track of the days - in June he's showering on odd-numbered days but forgot that today was the 5th, so just got dressed.
That reminds me, after he got dressed he started working on getting the bike chain grease out of his trekking pants and I took over and left them to soak. Should get that finished.
Aside from getting dressed and doing my physio, I haven't done much today. Can't even decide what/where for dinner.

Walked over and picked up my prescription. Also picked up chicken breasts that are on sale.
Came home and finished off dh's pants. Will start a load of laundry now and rinse the stain removal stuff out.
I've picked a restaurant and been online to check out the menu, writing down the best options for me. I might go over my calorie count but not absent-mindedly. Their cheezy garlic bread is over 1000 calories! No appetizer for me!

Home from my errands (details of doc visit in H&F). I've send email to DSon/DDIL and called DMom telling them my health findings.
DGD4 is napping. DH is at MPB. LO is cleaning his room.
Next up - do a little straightening up for tonight and pull out some desserts from freezer.

Re: Finally Friday Conga
We swept up 30 years of dust in the upstairs of the garage...
and dh is now fighting an asthma attack.
I've ordered a set of Thomas train tracks for dgs's birthday, and now HOPING it will arrive in time. (His bday is the 26th, but party will be the 20th so other grandparents can be here too. Surely it will get here in time, though. It said items usually ship out the next day after ordering.)
Talked to dmom and then ddil re: dmom's gift -- trying to decide which sort of Thomas toy box to get -- easel or ottoman. Easel is larger but with the easel top sloping down to make the front edge lower than the back, I don't see how it could hold all that much more.
Dmom seems to be doing so well, though! Two very good days in a row!
Also messaged with dmom's cousins and looks like the 4th is not a good time for at least two of the main ones, and I told cousin that dmom had not mentioned it again, so I think she has not realized how quickly the 4th is going to arrive. So, all that worry is for nothing at this point in time, anyway.
Need to s2s!

CANNOT DECIDE on this toy box. Grrrrr...
Easel is 30x19x19, but front is lower than back.
Ottoman is 19x12x12 -- dmom says get two of those if that is what ddil wants.
Ddil doesn't care... ds doesn't care...
I'm kinda afraid the ottoman would be too cheap and too small... but -- I like the flat space that provides seating.
Decisions, decisions...

Re: Finally Friday Conga
It was a wonderful evening.
1. We dressed up.
2. We went out to a 'fancy' restaurant (although the service wasn't much better than a family-style restaurant.) Dinner was good. I ate partial portions of things (shared my potatoes with dh and only ate 2/3 of my steak) and filled up on veggies. Did enjoy one piece of the bread but with full knowledge of the calories.
3. Enjoyed the play. Had forgotten we switched nights so tried to use the tickets from last week. Rushed to the "Will Call" window and picked up our tickets for tonight. Row E, seats 2 & 4 which were dead centre.
The play, Needles and Opium, had the most amazing staging I've ever experienced. At the end, I was itching to stand to give a standing ovation (unlike most times where I'll do so because it is expected - everything gets at standing O in this town.) They brought out the stage crew as well and they got the biggest cheer. It was simply unbelievable. Dh said he kept thinking he was watching a movie because what we were seeing wasn't physically possible. The stage was an open cube set on one corner, suspended in the air and it could rotate so the top became the bottom, etc. The actors were often on guy wires in order to hold them up as the stage rotated.
Neither of us had been excited about seeing the play and both of us were blown away by the experience.
Now I have to settle my mind and go to bed. I can't decide if I'll skip night physio or not. I have make up to get off so my bedtime routine will be longer than usual.

That play sounds amazing, Kathryn!
I chose the easel toybox. Wmart -- search Thomas the Train Easel Toybox if you want to see it. T the t ottoman storage box is the one I was also looking at. Still don't feel 100% great about my decision but it will have to do.
