I retyped a favorite recipe to print on 8 1/2 by 11, then made a pretty card 1/2 that size. Will write a note and put a pretty ribbon around the card and folded recipe since I don't have a large envelope.
Did Facebook messages with dd for awhile. She suggested we call her, that it was a good time but even tho it would be free on her phone I don't think would be free on our cell phone, so I suggested we just message. Sounds like she's having a good time.
Going to s2s and get on with the rest of the day...
Helia, I had forgotten that dh and dd19 are in Japan - what a fabulous trip for dd19! You deserve some good down time too - I'm glad that things are slower for the moment and your plate and house aren't so full!
Meant to say that this wedding shower is for a dfriend whose dh passed away suddenly when my kids were in their Jr yr of HS. He was my age, and their dd is a month older than my kids but a year ahead of them in school. Kids all grew up together, and the deceased dad and I went to the same elementary school at the same time, but didn't know each other then. I think it was the saddest funeral I've ever attended, and bitter cold and spitting snow the whole time. I'm glad she found happiness - she had a long term relationship with another very good friend and we would have been so happy to see them together but it wasn't meant to be. I feel bittersweet about her new hubby - don't see the attraction? - but thrilled to see her happy again.

Quick post and run, will cuop later. I'm not sure how much time I have. Dfam wants to go to a movie this afternoon.
I don't think I posted the last couple of days. Thursday we met dson at his work, had a quick supper at the bowling alley grill, then back to the auditorium for the band concert. As always it is very enjoyable, heard some new songs.
Ddil's last day of work was Wed. She is a school nurse at one of the local high schools and goes back in September when school starts. Ds has taken a week vacation starting Friday, so will be off this coming week till we leave for home on Thurs.
Gotta run now, they are almost ready to go!

Morning Y'all...
I am dragging big time today. Dreaded ankle/foot cramps kept me up most of the night. I am drinking 80+ ozs of water a day, taking extra calcium and all the other recommended things to try and keep them at bay. Got up three times last night when the cramps wouldn't give and ate/swallowed three TBSP of yellow mustard. It did help thank heavens.
The heat is more than unbearable with no relieve in sight. We will be experiencing 110*+ temps at least until this coming Friday. Yesterday I bought a cute small umbrella to shade me from the sun when I walk from my car to a store. It is small enough to fit in my purse. I need to force myself to go to the grocery store this morning. I want to buy some Pedi-o-lite to add to my water flavoring sticks. I'm hoping the Pedi-o-lite will help with my night time cramps.
Feeling for the rest of y'all dealing with the heat. You are dealing with that dreaded humidity...which of course after living in Al and the south, like New Orleans, Fla and Tn for most of my adult life I remember quite well. Nothing like opening your front door and being hit by a WALL of heat. Here you just feel like someone turned a hair dryer on high and tossed you into an oven. Yes, there is usually a breeze here during the summer, but as y'all blow dry your hair ...think of me
Twins...yes it was me talking about my therapy dogs. It always made me smile when you used to talk about laying down with your dogs either to comfort them or to let them comfort you. Until recently Sadie was always my therapy dog, especially when I had a headache. She seemed to sense something was wrong and would snuggle up to me till it was over. Great comfort I might add. Now she's too old to jump up on my bed. I don't have a problem putting her up there with me, but she forgets she's almost 15 and still jumps off of it like she did when she was younger. I am too afraid I won't catch her in time when she starts to leap off and worry that she might break her leg.
Willis on the other hand thinks he's a kangaroo....For a long time Sadie acted like a goat jumping from one place to another, especially when we were hiking... He can jump far AND high. If I hold a toy has high as I can over my head, Willis can get it....so the bed's not a problem. If Willis is on the bed before we are ready to sleep, I say to him... Willis, time for your pj's. He has very very little hair and gets cold at night. Sleeping on blankets makes his hip go out so to counter that I have a dog sweater for him. Anyway...when I mention pjs Willis sits up and sticks his head through the sweater's neck hole. I have to put his front legs through the arm holes. Then I say ..Nite, Nite...time for bed..and he jumps of my bed and heads for his. In the morning, when the sun starts to rise, he waits by the side of my bed till I tell him he can come up.
And...when its time to get up, Willis jumps on the floor, stretches with his front legs straight out and waits for me to pull his sweater off. I slid it off his head and then he steps out of it. Who says dogs aren't smart.

Service and sermon is finished. Just in the nick of time to meet up with dd and dsil.
The sermon was difficult to write but I'm pleased with the final result. Ended up delving into the Greek because different translations of the Bible gave such different interpretations. The internet is wonderful for that, there is a interlinnear Greek/English Bible online that gives the Greek words and another website allows me to look up the uses of each word (and refers to specific passages.) It helps in my understanding so much.

It's a beautiful sunny day here in the low 70's. I keep thinking about some work problems and am trying to decide how to handle them.

We had such terrible storms through the early part of the day. I got up early and did some chores, then went back to bed for a couple hours since I couldn't be on the computer. After my nap I tried to check emails and cuop but another bad storm rolled in, so I decided to go old school and read a BOOK.
It cleared off enough for DH to take me out for lunch. I brought him home and went out again to run a few errands. Now I'm going to see if I can finally cuop before I have to leave again or the next storm comes through.
I'm on call for work tonight. A group is renting the meeting room, a rare occurrence for Saturday evening but they have a long-standing agreement. Usually the boss lets them in and hangs around until they're done, but she is on a canoe trip this weekend. The president of the library trustees said she would take care of the group, which is fine because she already has a key to the building. However, the library director says that the trustees president frequently offers to do things but forgets to show up. Therefore, since I live the closest, I said I would go read newspapers at the library until the trustees president arrives. If she doesn't come, or if she comes but doesn't want to stay, I have permission to clock in and get paid for the time I have to stay with the group. The boss gave me a project to do there by myself, actually easier to do without interruptions from patrons.
Oh, I just realized that my paycheck should be in the office as well, so it will not be a wasted trip even if the trustees president does show up on time.

Back from the Italian Festival. It wasn't much but there were signs it would be hopping tonight. Even the street vendors were hardly ready to serve any food (only about 1/4 of them were open.)
I had a good nutella gelato from a regular shop but there was a great gelato vendor I walked past (because he was so expensive.) If we are talking value for money I should have paid the extra but his flavours looked weird to me. On the way back I tasted his Strawberry and Basil which was divine. I hope I can learn from this.
I left the house with only 1200 steps for the day and now have well over 10K. We probably walked close to 3 miles and then I got credit for the 6 mile bike ride. We picked up a cooked chicken on the way home and are having a light dinner. There will be something to eat at the party tonight but I have lots of calories saved for that.

Library trustees president came on time so I did not have to stay.
It sounds wimpy to not want to start a big project when we're still under storm watch, but it would be really annoying to get in a groove and have the power go out. Therefore, I am going to cook supper and then take the rest of the night off to watch a DVD and finish a book.
And I just heard thunder again.

Back from town spinning meeting was good. I finished up a hat.
We brought to go food home for dinner. Watching a movie tirled "bear" now words but good got it ag a yd sale today for $1. Watching it w hubby I have seen it before.
