Summer Mondays

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

Summer days driftin' away, to uh-oh those summer nights
It is summer time here in the Northern Hemisphere. Time when our schedules get changed dramatically due to school breaks, vacations, heat, visitors.

This summer day finds me heading off for a summer night at the ballpark.

What will your day be like today?

Just a quick post good bye.

I will have my laptop, though, so you may see me checking in from the car.

I'll be home late tomorrow night.

If you watch the Blue Jays against Boston game tonight on the tv, and you'll see us along the first base line, wave! I'll be watching for you!!!!

Good Morning!

K&K - Have fun at the ball game adventure!

I have enjoyed the first couple hours of the day. Bible time done. LOL in washer & dryer. Meals for the day planned & prep'd. Did a little dreaming and planning on an upcoming painting project.

It is time to get busy at my desk.

Good morning! It is sunny, warm, and so peaceful here right now. Just the dogs and I are up.

Yes, that sounds like a fantastic way to start the day, LadyM.
What a great outing. Have fun, Kathryn!
Nice to "see" you, as always, blessed.

I slept in a bit. I'm getting caught up from all those short nights while dh was out of town.

I have let the dogs out, in, refilled their water bowl, rinsed the glasses in the dw (they often have very fine particles glued inside them; most people don't notice, but I know they're there so I now check and clean as needed; not thrilled with this dw), checked email, made my tea.

Next:
- QT
- finish unloading the dw
- s2s and self-care

I have nothing on my calendar today but need to use the time to get caught up on some things. Dd19 is babysitting this morning - afternoon and then has some meetings. Dd17 has drumline practice this evening. And she will need to do her taxi job. She has been the ride home from tennis lessons for a friend's younger brother, age 13. The mother is paying her to pick him up and bring him home each day as she and the dad work full time, and the older sister, one of dd17's friends, is still on her exchange program in Austria.

Called and made the first appt with our dr today for dd - 2:10. I had intended to just find out about appts and call back with dd's input, but since there were only two and that was the earliest, I decided to grab it. The other 2 drs are okay, but dd will want her own whom she knows so well.

It occurs to me I need to talk to her about dr turnover. We were certainly disappointed to lose last dr when big medical outfit moved her, and didn't think we could ever like a new one as much, lol. Now we've grown to love this one... ... uh-oh.

I will need to pick her up about 1:20 and since I'll probably chat with the family, get there at 1:10.

Also need to get a get well card ready for mail.

helia, I was interested to hear about dd17's driving. I was thinking our state restrictions would not allow new drivers to have a younger passenger, but I looked it up after hearing from you, and I had read it wrong. For the first six months after dd gets her license, she can have one passenger younger than 21. Actually, I don't like that because I've been telling her friends that they can't ride with her for the first six months by law, and now I see it would only be by "mama's rules". Oh well, I'm used to being the bad guy.

Harriet, yes, first licenses here in MI are restricted to no more than one non-family member and no driving after 10 pm or before____?_ a.m., except for school or church activities, I think. .. . .Dd17 now has her 2nd license, which is not restricted? Or probably less restricted. Here, drivers get their 2nd license after they've (1) been driving for 6 months and (2) turned 17.

Done:
- QT
- kitchen is reclaimed
- started the process of decluttering my side table; I had a couple stacks of books and files on it. I found a gift certificate from dd17 for 6 new chair covers and 2 pillows for the sofa, along with fabric samples she'd found as possible choices. I reminded her of the certificate, and she seemed cheerful about working on them! Another summer project for her.
- menu plan worked on; need to confirm Th. dinner menu plan. We're thinking fish, likely salmon. I will get that at WF b/c I think the quality will be better than that of K ro gers, where I'm now shopping.

Dd17 is not being a taxi after all. Apparently, the boy has diving before tennis and diving was cancelled b/c it was too cold? Hmm..... It seems very warm to me.

Dh is finally up and on a conference call.

I'm off to s2s now.

Good morning all! I started the 30 day declutter challenge last night with the refrigerator. Since I will be gone 9 days in July, it doesn't make sense for me to keep the same schedule as everyone else. Tonight will be pantry for me. The newest foster cat has been cleared to join the rest of the household. Right now, I am only letting her out supervised. Some hissing, but nothing violent. I finally ordered my glasses. I sprayed most of the yard for weeds, but ran out of Roundup. I finished the Barbie dress I have been working on since November and will post it sometime in Arts Crafts & Needlework. The pastor's wife may be taking over the church website. Partially good, in that I think she has more experience with it than me. Bad, in that she probably has too much work already. I offered to continue doing the things I know how to do.

Tonight's plan:
  • Multiple errands
  • Some crochet work
  • DPC
  • LOLs
  • Reservations for summer trip (and decisions related to them)
  • Declutter challenge - pantry
  • Continue gluing chairs (if time)

Busier week! I should re adopt the rule I used to have that planning for the following week started on Sunday at 6 p.m. Tonight we are going to friends' for dinner for birthday for dfriend's mom and FIL. I still have the card for the dfriend's dad that I made in March maybe. Today I'll try to make two bd cards - or perhaps find something appropriate from my stash. Just supposed to bring bottle of wine but will probably take a little herb bouquet too.

Tomorrow afternoon dmom has a dr appointment - will be exhausting I'm sure for both of us. Dh will be out of town tomorrow night. Midday on Wednesday we have houseguest coming in - he will use dd's room and her (newly cleaned) car. Perhaps I should ck to see if she needs and oil change or servicing, too.

I don't know what the rest of the week holds with the houseguest - he has lived here before so will be in and out seeing people and doing things so we don't have to "entertain" as we did with daunt. On Friday night we're having Shabbas dinner and having people over - need to figure out that menu. Dh has asked for brisket, which is a typical Jewish shabbat meal in the winter. And I should probably at least cook "kosher style" by not mixing my meat and milk so brisket would mean a meat meal - no cheese in a salad or cheese squash casserole, which is a summer go to recipe. So I'm toying with fish (could do cheesy casserole and/or cheese in salad) or a veggie lasagne. And dh will be home and underfoot on Friday also.

I see Helia is also working on menu plans.

Facebook messaging with dd who is inquiring about traveling on her own in Europe or Russia after this trip ends....

-breakfast
-s2s
-start laundry
-meds/vitamins
-make the bed
