We are having a quiet Sunday so far - dh and I are about to head out to a birthday party for a two year old - I stipulated that we would "come by" but not to count on us for their food quantities. We've had a houseguest (actually he's gone now) but when we RSVP-ed we didn't know if we might be spending time entertaining or being with him. Glad we had a socially acceptable reason. I think that afterward we will pick up ds and go out to eat.
Was a quiet 4th of July here...the "ice cream social" and cornhole tournament went on as planned - we have a little pavilion by the community pool so were out of the sporadic light rain. Last night the rain held off and a group from this community gathered to watch fireworks in the yard with the best view - there were about 60 of us? I did put on bug spray before we went out.
Has been a mostly quiet weekend. While still prep-ing for shabbat dinner on Friday (right after my last post, which was about an hour before anyone was to show up) the houseguest and another dinner guest showed up. I still got most things done, and dinner guest had brought dessert also so I didn't bother to make a dessert fruit salad, but instead used fruit this morning when dh cooked breakfast for houseguest and another....
Dd is having a wonderful time. She posted photos on Facebook and she is smiling and happy and in a swim suit - has a skirt cover up but looks very happy and is obviously having a good time.

Re: Slowing Down Sunday
Nap taken and totally enjoyed.
Episode of Bones watched. I had to slide the what-you-call-it back several times because I kept falling asleep while watching the show. I watched enough of the show to have answers to the multiple mysteries being solved.
Next up - read book. I went to my shelf of our little library and selected a book that I bought years ago but never read. It is The complete works of E.M. Bounds on Prayer. Did I not read it because it was not interesting? Or because I didn't have time? Regardless, I intent to give it a good effort. It will have to earn a spot to stay on my library shelf. Pen in hand....summary page ready.....*POOF*

Re: Slowing Down Sunday
Boy, I certainly needed to slow down.
DGS had me up twice in the night, and the second time, he and I both slept the rest of the night in the recliner. I wouldn't take anything for those precious moments, b/c I know he won't be little long... but ooohhh... it was NOT the most restful sleep I've ever had, that's for sure.
After church, ds & ddil came and got him and I took a LONG, LONG nap.
In the meantime, dh found out that -- can y'all believe this -- our dishwasher has died! He washed ALL the dishes by hand and told me to sleep! He said it took him an hour and 45 minutes. Our dishwasher is always too full when we start to run it. (It's a pity appliances can't tell you beforehand: "NOOO, don't put anything in here, I'm not going to work this time.")
He and I just got back from Wmart, and I think we're going to see the movie, Faith of Our Fathers, tonight.
Then next week... whew... busy, busy...
Tomorrow, ds does a local "music in the park" thing with some friends... AND we have to start looking for a new dishwasher...
Tues or Wed, the pool table man is supposed to be here...
Wed. (or sooner) I have to go to the library...
Sometime this week, I have to go to the drug store, plus go to next town to get something for ddil's birthday, plus see about getting the scratch on the Tahoe fixed.

Re: Slowing Down Sunday
I joined Lady M this afternoon.
Had my Sabbath drink out on the balcony and read for a bit. Tried to nap but wasn't full comfortable. Went to bed and napped deeply for 75 minutes, then watched an episode of Nashville. Because I did things in the 'correct' order, I managed to stay awake!
Had dinner and then wasted time until we went for a walk at 8. My dinner had too much fat and I was feeling ill from it. That's the second time recently that it has happened. Going through my food diary, I note that my normal diet is relatively low in fat (around 20 - 24%) but now that I'm pushing it up to 30% I'm having more and more days where I feel sick. Perhaps there's an unconscious reason I was doing high carb, low fat as my diet - it is best for my body. I can get the protein up without raising the fat but then carbs sub in for the missing fat. Can't really figure out what is best. Certainly for weight loss, higher protein has helped. But that isn't all that great if I feel sick after eating every few days.
Still haven't done the declutter challenge for the day. I hear dh in the kitchen working on dinner dishes as well.

Re: Slowing Down Sunday
lucylee, condolences on your dishwasher's demise.
Lilac, safe travels back home again.
Starting on my thinking for the coming week.
Tomorrow I need to:
Water plants
mail letters
Desk Day
laundry will probably be towels
bank errand
Planning needs to happen for:
Exercise for the rest of month
I need to think about family and those sick
maybe a card to dcousin's dh. Call dsecondmil. Call dstepdil.
I've found out dd has a mandatory meeting uptown for 3 hours Thursday. Even though her time is paid, there's no way to keep that from adding another day of driving because it's at a different location, yet not enough hours to keep her from needing 3 other days. Sigh. So 4 out of 5 weekdays driving.
