lucylee, I can hardly bear to think about too-harsh pruning and too-harsh use of sprays. Poor decision making by various other adults to whom I am kin :| have taken away plants/trees from me quite enough. Even now, I am considering getting little signs that say something like "under protection" or, if I could make them myself for cheap, would say, "under the protection of Mom". Dd42 once made a sign for me that said, "Do not incur the Wrath of Mom" for an old Christmas decoration someone had said should be tossed, lol.

I am still gardening. I know why dstepdil and dstepson couldn't get anything to grow in the large planter. It was half-filled with the sandiest, least organic potting soil ever. I actually had a hard time getting a shovel down into it. Leaves that had blown in over the top kept me from really seeing it until now. I had worried I might disturb something alive but, um ... .. no. Now it has perlite and mushroom compost and leaves incorporated. I brought manure over to it, realized I was winded, and came in to sit a bit before working that in. (I'm with Nancy and Ramblin')

The epiphany about where to put it didn't come until I had to walk away from the work a bit to dust off, and looked back. I realized there was a chance to cover the "visual" of our electric box, grounding and wires, near an often-used entrance, with the planter and its flowers. So I'm getting closer to having the 3 most visible sides of the house looking neat. (The air cond/heat pump is especially large and unattractive because of the difficulties of changing an old house over to elec but at least it is, "plain, and doesn't call attention", which is the best thing I've heard a visitor say about it.)

Our green-eyed boy came with some homegrown worms he dug and laid them in the waist-high bed where I've only found one the whole time I've been digging. He and I agree our own worms will know what to do, be better, smarter, all-around wormier. His ever-practical sister says, "they sell those at the corner store, you know".

Hey, all!

Had trouble getting in here. We upgraded our internet on Thursday, and the upgraded internet included security software, which labeled the login page as a phishing site. No, duh, it wants my login information because it's a LOGIN page!!! It said you could set up exceptions for pages you knew were safe, but it didn't tell how. I finally had to go in and turn the security software off; THAT I could figure out how to do.

Feeling my mortality today. Don't know why, but watching a Hoarders episode depressed me instead of motivating me.

DH is away with the Scouts. I checked the church schedule, and we are both on for the 11 am Mass tomorrow, so he had better be back by then. I will have to look at the readings. I'll have to look at the schedule again, because I can't remember whether it said I was first reader or second reader. No good to prepare the wrong reading.

We have the annual membership recruitment flyer for the beach club to deliver. Actually, DC will "get" to deliver them all by themself, because I just don't have it in me to go up and down everyone's front steps, and DH isn't here to help. I suppose it could wait a couple of days; the earliest deadline in the flyer is May 1, but the weather is good today, and DC said they were willing to deliver them all. I don't know if they know what they're in for, though -- most of the flyers just go to the current membership (about a third of the houses on the street), but this flyer goes to every house on the street.

I hope your DD heals quickly, Dee, whether cracked or just sore.

I am envious of your organization and craft projects, Nancy.

Oh, gosh! Look at the time! I should have some lunch.

I had some trouble with a pc virus protection scam when I was trying to post in J & C. Just a skippable response.
Thank you mw for the kudos LM.

Walked and now my plan is to put old clean up towels in drawers after I declutter it so I am not tempted to refill it again with brick a brack! LOL!
Washer drain is okay on some setting I am trying them all getting familiar with the new washer and using various settings and watching the drain when it spins out. I have made up four pillow cases to use as stuff bags got 2 of them hemmed and pressed the seams.

Walked the dog.
Lunch next up. Done.
Hemmed the last two cases.
One more load of old towels sorted folded and most are put away.
Napped while I waited on the last load in the dryer. . .
Folded the last load more towels. Took off the ratty edges and tossed old kitchen towels.
I put paint cans away. Yea!
Took the furnature dolly downstairs to help move totes etc. around.

I emulated Harmony and took a nap this afternoon. It carb assisted and I think I slept well for two hours. The luncheon was breakfast food - scrambled eggs, hash browns, turkey sausage with muffins and small biscuits. There was also a chocolate "fountain." I dipped the end of a round cookie like thing in, and otherwise ate some of the strawberries sans chocolate. It was nice to be with people.

The family is very artsy and crafty. Instead of real flowers they had large paper flowers - the kind we used to make as kids - on the raised stage and on each row. She and friends had done a balloon arch downstairs, and a grandmother made all the kippahs - the "beanie" type hats - in a cute printed fabric with the Muppets. The social hall downstairs was all green with a stuffed Kermit the frog on one large intersecting table. The tablecloths were green, and each table had a big vase filled with green M & Ms and candy for decoration, with some gift bags of green candy about.

Hoping Dee's dd is getting around okay without wincing.

Twins' that sounds very creative of the family.

Laundry going when I'm outside does work although it's not a perfect plan. The crazy dryer buzzer is loud enough to let me hear it when I'm outdoors. HRH hates that thing. No hack online to change it.

Took a walk to find a rock and found an orange-tinged quartz just perfect to bring home and tuck under the large planter to level it.

Started thinking - I can't just do that on a whim for long. In May, the ticks start falling. Also, the snakes are already crawling around rocks in the woods. They have dibs. And my eyesight is a little iffy looking down into leaves in dappled sunshine.

Grandpuppy had already found "my" first snake of the year on a potty walk. Pretty sure it was a ground snake so no danger as it showed us where it lives under an azalea. We kept the info to ourselves rather than spill it to all the boys.

I have hauled and watered and side-dressed until I'm a little tired. But HRH was already handling supper this evening, so that's going to work out.

A-River delivered the second soaker and the lead hoses a day early. Maybe I'll at least get some of that done before dark. HRH says the washers are in there, but I bet not in the soaker. And I forgot to order more.
