Saturday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

It's Saturday! It doesn't mean much to me up here in my tower (I feel like the princess imprisoned in the tower these days) but I hope everyone can get out and do things!

Back from my morning rain walk with the dog.
Rain has stopped now.
Trying to remember how I used to make veg. lasagna without noodles.. hum thinking. might need to add to my groc. list for next week.
Mine had meat & veg. Diagional sliced, cheese cottage cheese, no noodles.

I swept the drive way , pruned suckers under the maple tree out front. Glad that is done.

It's knit in public day. I will be joining a bunch of friends later while they knit in public.

I unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher. Then I came back and unloaded it when it was done.

I've also cut the grass and taken some garbage out and put it in the large garbage can.

Now I have a dozen farm fresh eggs on the stove to make egg salad.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Good Morning!

Mental picture of Twins in a tower... ((((Hugs)))) When does your isolation end?

I am back to my normal life with DS13 taking up a large part of my mental space. He seeks me wherever I am to discuss whatever is on his mind about 5 times an hour. I know this is a phase in his life and won't always be this way. My grown kids and grandkids went through this same process.

My primary focus for today is to get DD11 packed for camp. I suspect a shopping trip might be required but I want to make sure we have a list of everything she still needs so it only requires one trip to the city.

Covid, covid, Go Away!!

DS-R and DDIL were here earlier and put up our sunscreens from our solid deck roof -they extend down to our railing. DS also removed our AC covers from the roof last week -and we ended up needing it. Someone here was talking about buying their DH a small portable AC -can't remember who it was. How did that work out or are you still waiting to purchase? I keep wondering if it would be cheaper operation.

I just made a spread sheet of all the 'surfaces' that need cleaning/straightening/organizing and will start doing them one at a time. Actually I already did our shower -we don't use it as a shower but as 'storage' for a lot of things.

Trying to put several things together for a campground wide yard sale next week. Each site (whoever wants to participate) can set up tables in their yard from 11-3 next Saturday. We're trying to simplify and I know there's a lot we can put out to try to sell. From there a lot will simply go to G oodwill. I know there's things that are fine but we just don't use them. For instance in one corner behind dh's chair I have a "Granny vacuum cover over an older vac that I never use. I really don't need it to 'dress up' our RV.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Dh has gone to Costco. He was talking about buying Lysol and thought that Febreze would take airborne COVID out of the air. Explained to him that what we have - 409 or Fantastic - is sufficient for counters etc. Should have told him I thought he'd been cleaning those all along. I'm afraid to guess what the downstairs is going to look like when I re emerge. And I hate to think of what he's going to bring home from Costco.

He suggested taking a shower while he's away, but I think I'll force him out this afternoon for awhile to shower. He took another home test and it's still negative.

He needs to let me downstairs later to water plants. I don't trust him to do it.

I sure am feeling grumpy.

LadyM, I think he'll let me back downstairs tomorrow. Twenty four hours after I've had a fever I should no longer be contagious but CDC recommends I wear a mask around others for five days, to make a total of ten days. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nc ... 2600273484

I had a very very slight fever yesterday afternoon after being outside on the porch. Wondering if it was real - only 99.8. If I see it today I won't be downstairs tomorrow.

Now that I think about it, I think dh should clean and disinfect every surface downstairs: floors, counters, cabinets, bathrooms, what else? [evil laugh]

I asked DD11 to pick out 7 summer shirts, 7 shorts, 7 sets of underwear and lay them on the couch. I went through what she picked out and she brought 3 shorts, 4 long thick pants, 1 summer shirt and 6 flannel type long sleeve shirts & sweatshirts. The weather is going to be over 100F most of the time she is at camp so I don't think she will enjoy wearing flannel, sweatshirts and thick winter pants. I know DD11 isn't doing this on purpose because she just doesn't seem aware about these types of things. She would wear her favorite full-length coat in the summer if I would let her. She really loves that coat because it has all the big pockets to always keep her drawing supplies with her. ANYway........round #2 is underway of picking out her clothes to pack for camp. It would be quicker for me to go into her bedroom and get the clothes needed to pack, but this is part of her learning & growing process.

I went to the garden and spent time there until I got hot. I harvested asparagus, 2 types of peppers, strawberries, beet greens and 2 types of tomatoes. #MyHappyPlace

Lunch is BGS for me. DS13 is having a can of cold ravioli while he waits the 12 minutes for the air fryer to cook his other food (chicken sandwich and french fries). DD11 hasn't eaten anything yet today. She doesn't eat until she gets hungry. DH is taking his DMom to her weekly hair appt, the grocery store and then out to eat.
small portable AC
That was me that bought one for DH to use in his shop. It is a portable evaporative cooler. Here are a-river top sellers. The brand/size I researched and bought for DH is currently #2 on that list. If your weather includes higher humidity, then evaporative coolers might not work well. Interesting....I just noticed the price went back up. It was $80 less when i purchased it a few days ago.

Have to smile at dd's choices, LadyM. Sometimes I am amazed at the things my dgrands want to wear, too.
Definitely would not want the thick pants and flannel shirts though -- we're expecting upper 90s next week here. And of course, "it's not the heat, it's the humidity..." ;)

We've had breakfast, dgs showered (b/c he admitted he had not had a shower since WEDNESDAY... smh), I did my daily Bible reading, then talked to dmom on the phone while I picked up dgs' bedroom, and now I'm waiting on dh to wake up from his "morning nap" and then we will both s2s and be on our way. (We have two separate showers connected to separate water heaters, so hot water is not an issue. However, I'm pretty sure dgs emptied water heater during his shower!)

RE: Covid situation here -- dgd will stay with band leader's wife today and tomorrow while band plays; ds will be spending the night at their house as well.
So far as dgs is concerned, I guess we are just "acting as if" in this case. No one has had any symptoms since ddil got sick, except dgd complained her water didn't taste like it had any flavor packet in it (but it did). We are taking the attitude that unless EVERYONE gets tested EVERY DAY, then how on earth do we know if we are being exposed to anyone, anywhere we go? (I realize, ddil DID have pretty strong symptoms so we ARE aware that it has been circulating in their household, but if dgd had not made that remark about her water, ddil wouldn't have thought about testing her, and we'd have carried on as usual for our weekend, with ddil back at work as normal. DDIL did go back to work last night, btw, with extra masking/distancing precautions.)

Anyway, we will be getting ready and leaving for ds' show in about an hour. It's less than 2 hours away so should be a manageable trip.

(((TWINS))) -- I totally agree -- your dh should make sure EVERYTHING is spotless and sanitized before you come downstairs!

Waving to all! Hope you all have a great day!
Tomorrow is another day.

strange.....FB friends around the US in multiple states are posting about problems using their debit and credit cards today. Apparently, the processing providers are not working or limited. I don't see anything about it on the news. It might be a good day to have cash if you absolutely need to buy something.

Just got a call from DMIL health service to let us know they are coming this afternoon. Yesterday they said the plan was for them to come Monday through Friday and not on the weekends. Ohs well...anything new usually has a few bumps. DH is going to have to hurry to get his DMom back home by 3pm.

I haven't tried to use a credit card today. Dh has been to Costco and Publix and hasn't had any issues.

Lack of motivation is hanging over me like a great big ole cloud. I could be feeling depressed. Dh is tired of waiting on me but it was his choice.
