I still need to run those errands! So I need to get my walk in and head out today. No putting it off!

Yesterday I inexplicably took off my Fitbit when I showered after my walk and then didn't find it until late in the day. So I didn't record my steps for a large part of the middle of the day.

I have a 2 p.m. Zoom today too with my mentor. I might be feeling a little nagged at this point. I know what I need to do.

We have a bit of a change of weather coming in tonight - highs around 92 tomorrow instead of nearly 100 today.

Know our heat index is very high today. Dh isn't working today, thank goodness! DD and Dh have gone for a "Moving Up" ceremony for DGS9 today. He'll be going to 5th grade in the middle school in the fall. I determined early on that I was not going to try to go. I awoke with a horrendous headache (and still have most of it after taking E xcedrin and arthritis strength T ylenol) plus a tummy that didn't seem to want to feel good. The ceremony is outside and I doubt I would have done very well. They took about a 1/2 grocery (paper kind) bag of things for DGS. Know there's 3 P epsi trucks in there, a small keychain (that I'm sure he'll love), souvenirs from the Lightning, a "Tesla and Edison" book for him to read (he loves to read and especially history), and a bag of 'gluten-free' O reos. Yay! more things out of here.

I also managed to rid our RV of a 2 shelf white bookcase the other day. Dh was going to put it out by the road for a day or 2. In the meantime this young man (whom we dearly love) from down the street stopped to ask if we were getting rid of it (it was on the front of our deck). Said his Mom would really like it -so off it went. Of course he wanted to pay us -not happening. This boy (17) and his 2 young siblings were adopted by this older couple -pretty sure they're in their 60's. They are all such sweet kids. We're glad to do anything we can for them. He's also a very good worker and dh has him helping on different projects. Can't tell you how many people he's recommended this boy to come clean their driveways. (our drives have to be kept weed-free or the management sends a letter warning that company staff will do it at a hefty cost.) It's much cheaper to have our young friend do it. He really watches over his young brother and sister. It's very heart-warming. No clue as to what ever happened with their parents and we wouldn't ask. Have a feeling it might be a situation where grandparents adopted them.

Think this headache is beginning to abate somewhat. Know I could never have done the sun thing!

Have water heater going so I can do the dishes.

Ordered a really nice grill accessory kit for DS-R to use on his new Blackstone griddle and his grill. His birthday is Friday. He's hoping to take the day off as DDIL already has it off.

Hmmm....have 2 guys in our yard on phones and looking at the cable works I think. It evidently has a cable going up and over our berm. Know a gal down from us had internet put in the other day and I'm fairly sure it has something to do with that. Our internet is working ok I think.

I got in 5K steps but it was hot! I walked a very slow lap with an elderly neighbor and her little dog so I could catch up with her. I usually just say hello and cruise on by but thought it would be nice to walk a little with her. By the time I finished I was probably overheated! I've had breakfast and cooled down. Need to change clothes and get on my way. Will finish a.m. routine when I get back...

Good Morning!

After doing personal AM and kitchen dailies I went for a walk. It felt great to be out in the cooler air. I still want to play in the garden, so I need to get that done before the temperature hit 100F later today. We had a person visit our area and die this week while walking in the heat. Sadly, it happens over and over every year. People don't realize how dangerous the heat is if you are not used to it. They see others doing it and don't realize it took them days/weeks to get acclimated to it.

DH is taking his DMom to a city an hour away to get her ears looked at. His sister made the appointment for DMIL then told DH that he needed to take her because DSil can't drive that far. I choose to keep my opinion to myself but I'm not happy with DSisIL. Why drive 2 hours when the same care can be done locally? Pick you battles and I'm not picking this one......

Keep on keeping on.....I'm doing those daily routines one card at a time.

Wow!! According to the top of the screen, the last time I visited the village was seven months ago yesterday!! Perhaps more frequent visits would help maintain a better level of accountability? Yep....I'm way far behind in pretty much everything once again. With Mum recently moved into long term care, we (mostly *I*) have to get the house ready to go on the market. So much of my childhood and teen years are in that house. Mum was - to say the least - a bit of a hoarder when it came to paper stuff and mementos. On top of all that, I'm trying to get the garden back into some semblance of civility - with the increasing time demands of helping Mum over the past two or three years, it's completely gone by the wayside, and now bears a startling resemblance to the Lost Gardens of Heligan! With the unpredictable weather here lately, there's been a lot of rain...usually coming just about as soon as the garden starts to dry out enough to start weeding.

Although I'm currently on vacation until June 28, I haven't been doing much in the way of vacationing...or even staycationing. It's been run here, run there, this appointment, that appointment, visiting Mum, sorting out Mum's affairs. Thank goodness I've managed to squeeze in a bit of gardening time, or I don't know what I'd do! Today will be more of the same...stuff at Mum's, stuff here (the major portion of which has become sorting through boxes of stuff that were packed quickly to bring over here. If I sat over there sorting through all the papers and pictures and memories, I'd be there until Christmas! I need to get a few things done here before I head over there (after which, I'll head over to visit Mum for a bit).

First up:


- let the dogs out (they've eaten, and are getting antsy)
- morning dailies
- start working through the pile of papers on the table in the back bedroom
- weed the patio flower bed
- pick some rhubarb for freezing, and for an apple rhubarb crumble

Hmmmm. missed that, Lady M, so adding my wishes for a Happy Birthday to Cathy's DH.

I managed to do up our dishes and a few extras in the kitchen. Now it's time to rest for my head and my back. I do feel somewhat better. Think maybe taking the E xcedrin M igraine helped some.

Oh these guys are back with a shovel now. Have a feeling something happened with that cable that is up and over the berm. I know it was above ground a couple of days ago.

We really need to make an appointment with our investment counselor. We have way too much just sitting in our checking/savings accounts. And I'm sure we all know how little interest they're collecting. Hadn't wanted to make an appointment until after we opened a new account in FL, but there's just too much just sitting. Our K odak account doesn't earn much interest but it DOES earn an "Owner's Dividend" that can amount to quite a bit over the year, but I'm sure still not what something higher interest might earn.

DS-R told us last night that he's made reservations to fly to FL to see his Uncle (DB's brother) for several days around July 21st. Think he's flying back the 27th. Then DD will be leaving for FL that weekend as she starts school early August. He's actually flying down on A merican and back on F rontier. Ended up cheaper that way. When he told the time manager he wanted those days off, the mgr said, "Myrtle Beach"? and DS replied no -family. They actually plan to go to a campground right on the beach there in later August. They've already calculated gas costs at what they figure could be the highest rate for pulling their 5th wheel. They come out way more than what it's costing them for the campground on the beach for a week! Just chalking it up to vacation costs.

I'm waiting for the vouchers to hit my email then I will make my reservation to fly south the end of October. Dh probably won't be happy that I'm not leaving earlier, but it will be SO MUCH EASIER for me to pack and do "end of year" things. I already know I'll have a difficult time with the colder air, but maybe I'll luck out and it won't be as cold this year.

Well, I'll be, there's BITTERSWEET! Welcome -no matter how long you've been away, it's always good to see you back!

Thank you for dh's birthday wishes LadyM and Dee. He is now 62.

I just came in from cutting the grass. WHEW! It's so hot and sunny here. I love spring and fall, but this heat is getting to me more with every passing year.

Supper tonight... we will be eating at home this year as per the birthday boy's request. Supper will be BBQed smokies. His will be regular and mine will have cheese in them. I was prepared to buy him an ice cream cake, but he requested a piece of apple strudel from a local bakery. When I went there at 9 they had 1 piece left for today. I didn't realize that they open at 7 a.m.

I have a load going in the dryer. I also want to get some dishes done. There are a bunch of sharp knives on the counter that need doing.

I went outside and finished my potting, tied up my tomatoes and watered in the back. It is HOT and feels like 94 already. I am not going out to run errands. I have to go out tomorrow a.m. for body work and I'll go then when it's cooler. I feel lightheaded and overheated and tummy isn't nice. I may lie down a few. Oof.
