Bittersweet! It is good to see your post! I agree with you that frequent posting helps with accountability and consistency. I have found that is true for me. Your sorting boxes of papers and memories brought back the times I spent with DMom during the last year of her life. We spend hours together sorting through her papers. DMom seemed to enjoy the process of organizing them. I don't know the status of your DMom's health but I wonder if that would be something she could do to help you.
I'm sitting in front of the fan cooling down. My face, hair and shirt top are damp with sweat after playing in the garden. Harvest today was more of the same - tomatoes, peppers, onions, and strawberries. I pulled up two pumpkin plants because they are not doing well in this heat. I'll plant them later for a fall garden and maybe have better success.
I am thinking about volunteering to assist in taking care of the church flower gardens. They have a suitable selection of flowering plants that come back each year, but they are obviously not being taken care of. I need to tread carefully and hopefully not offend anyone by asking. Throw into my inquiry our new pastor that doesn't know me very well. ANYway......I want to find out who is supposed to be taking care of the church flower gardens and then proceed from there.

Re: Wednesday PWYC: Summertime...
Good morning! Oh it's not morning any more...it was when I started reading.
Hello Bittersweet, so nice to see you here. Good luck with all that sorting.
Happy Birthday to Cathy's DH.
A belated Happy Anniversary to Mystery and DH. I'm glad you went out to celebrate.
Had a nice long QT this morning, trying to get my sense of peace back again. DH's moods affect me. He seems to think I can fix the stuff that bothers him... and sometimes it seems that everything bothers him. Right now it's his inability to set up 1-touch dialing on his phone. Nobody seems to be able to help him and he's annoyed several people with that.
Paid my electric bill. People have been complaining about their bill. We had the cheapest company rates in the state....but they got a huge rate increase...so now I'm not sure where we stand. We weren't as bad as people were saying, but still an increase. And then there's the hot weather...we've been staying mid 90's. Today so far we're only 90. My notice tells me very high UV also.
Got a LOL washing, and 1 more to go. And 2 floors to mop, those floors I said I'd do a couple days ago...and never got done. Ok, off to accomplish that and I'll report back.

Re: Wednesday PWYC: Summertime...
Thought of our village when I read today's Inspirational thought:
Dh has commanded that I do as little as possible this afternoon. So glad he's not working today.
YeGads! Our AC is running non-stop and our ceiling fan is on high. Temp outside is 93 and inside is 87. No wonder we're limp as dish rags! Cooling/heating RV's is not an easy task especially in extreme temps like this.
We always seem to be learning things from each other.Always desire to learn something useful.

In addition to getting overheated, the vertigo that I had yesterday has reoccurred. I'm reading that vertigo can be a post COVID symptom. Taking dramamine or meclazine is the answer apparently.
I have a headache too.
Temp out is 94 but "feels like" 100 degrees. The humidity is back.

Re: Wednesday PWYC: Summertime...
Good afternoon! I am sad. They came and took down the tree in front of our house today. It needed to come down; the roots are destroying our sewer line, and the tree was half dead already. So I sort of knew it was coming, but DH pretty much left me out of the arrangements. So the first notice I had that they were coming today was the noise and DD asking if I knew there was a machine in our front yard. I'm guessing they called DH's cell to let him know they were coming, and of course, he has no cell service out at camp. They didn't even knock on the door or ring the bell (at least not that I heard). You'd think they'd at least want to double-check that they're cutting the right trees. And I don't think we even got firewood out of the deal; they were grinding up everything they possibly could. So my tree is gone, my shade is gone, and I am sad. DC took the pop-up beach tent into the side yard to get what nature they can. They said, "I was watching birds in that tree just yesterday."
Alas.
Anyhow...
It is annoying to not get credit for your steps, Twins. I'm glad you got plenty in before the heat today, and I hope you feel better.
I hope you're feeling better soon, Dee.
Cathy, Happy Birthday to your DH! That must be some very special strudel!
bittersweet! So good to see you! And now I must look up the lost gardens of Heligan.
Harmony, thanks for the anniversary wishes. We did have a nice evening.
And "Hi!" to LadyM, blessed, and Nancy!
I am playing Task Bingo today. I started after lunch, and this was my second task. My first task was to set up the bingo!
I will now go be useful.
Alas.
Anyhow...

Re: Wednesday PWYC: Summertime...
quick hi! hi!
I went to the garden center as my tomatoes (that I hadn't planted yet) died. Thank goodness they had basil/parsley and tomatoes. I finished the tomato area; I am please to say! As soon as dh comes back, I will plant the plants (I stayed with in my ability threshold and only bought what I needed and could actually plant
- so proud
)
dh washed the dishes while I was gone!!!!

Hello to all of you -- and BIG HELLO to bsweet!!! So good to see you!
Frequent check-ins should help one with accountability... I'm not sure it's doing the trick for me, actually, but that IS the idea, isn't it?
I am still just dragging around. I just have no motivation and no energy. The house looks pretty good on the surface, but I know what all needs to be done and still... I just drag myself out of bed... eat, s2s, go to the post office, read the paper, and then drag myself to the recliner for the afternoon.
Lot of time on phone with ddil this morning. DGD is at the doctor right now; she shut the car door on her thumb. DDIl said it might need no attention at all, but she would feel better if someone else looked at it. They had been to swimming lessons, and now ddil is talking again about putting in a pool next year at their house. I warned her about upkeep. She pays no attention to me.
I also need to call my dmom -- but I am waiting for ddil to call back.
I am not a very inspiring member of this group today.

Re: Wednesday PWYC: Summertime...
I'm not dragging but I'm sure working slow. More rests than work.
Bedspread and towels washed and hanging up. Couple throw rugs washing now. Over half the house vacuumed. I need to do that mopping but I might wait till DH goes to bed. I'm afraid of leaving some water on the floor and him falling again. I have everything pulled out of a closet and a couple end tables pulled out, all to go back after mopping. I think I'll go back and sit down. Maybe I am dragging...
