It's the 25th of July! Do any businesses in your area have sales to promote "Christmas in July"?

I haven't really noticed any "Christmas in July" type sales this year. Whether I'm just not paying close attention to commercials and flyers this year, I don't know.

I have as much paperwork as I can handle today. I told dh that I have to go to knitting to drop something off, but I will be coming right home as soon as I do that. One of the women was talking about "Christmas colours" last Monday and she was making a dishcloth. I told her that I thought I had variegated Christmas cotton and she perked right up. Seems I do have white cotton and I will never use it, so I'm taking that to her. I also have a huge, messy ball of variegated Christmas coloured yarn and I will also give that to her. She can use it or do whatever she wants with it.

Supper will be BBQed pork chops, corn on the cob and more zucchini from the garden.

Thankfully it has cooled down here.

Good Morning, thanks for starting us out Cathy.

We're a little cooler with some storms later. We bought smoked beef brisket at Costco on Saturday and that will be our supper tonight. I'll find a veggie to go with it.

No one is working here today! I am going to do a.m. routine and then head upstairs...I am ready to get this portfolio work done and gone.

Dee, the book is If you give a Mouse a Cookie. It's a preschool book, description from Wikipedia:

The entire story is told in second person. A boy named Oliver gives a cookie to a mouse named Quinley. The mouse asks for a glass of milk. He then requests a straw (to drink the milk), a mirror (to avoid a milk mustache), nail scissors (to trim his hair in the mirror), and a broom (to sweep up his hair trimmings). Next he wants to take a nap, have a story read to him, draw a picture, and hang the drawing on the refrigerator. Looking at the refrigerator makes him thirsty, so the mouse asks for a glass of milk. The circle is complete when he wants a cookie to go with it.

Good morning! Happy Christmas on the other side of the year.

Enjoyed an online service yesterday morning after missing the evening one the night before. Learned a couple things I hadn't realized before. I always appreciate that. HRH also listened to a hymn sing, I think.

Plants in containers drooped sadly yesterday even when I thought they shouldn't have, and I went around watering. Organic fertilizer into a few. It thundered and thundered, and nothing happened. Another run at that this afternoon - we'll believe it when we see it.

Repackaged for shipping - a top and dress that just don't work for me. Wasn't 100 percent sure about the top until asking HRH and he was emphatic, which is unusual for him. Wrong coloring, wrong style for me he said. Glad to be certain.

So that will be an errand out. I guess I'll have to park and walk into the local print-shipping shop. There's a drop-box set in a business area by the side of the road, but which box do I use? Every time I've tried that it's been so awkward. Would I rather have sun stroke or feel awkward? Thinking.

Another errand out to pharmacy 1. Will try for just drive-up.

Dreamed a cabinet dream - was supposed to help in a kitchen by finding a casserole dish for someone and the deep, cluttered cabinet went on forever without ever finding a correct dish. Then whoever it was wanted to give all the contents away without looking but I wouldn't let her! I gave this long explanation about checking each item and making sure you didn't need it. Ugh. I think I'm sleeping hot.

I did a double take when I saw today's title. The last time I was in Hobby Lobby, they were putting out their Christmas items. It is that time of the year. Thanks for the start CathyS and the timely reminder.

I was surprised to not be sore this morning. Yesterday I had over 8k steps with no outside walking. I normally don't get that many steps inside the house, but I spent hours being busy with DD11 bedroom project.

I have to do something today, but I can't remember what. Argh! Why didn't I write it down? Maybe it will pop back into my head later.

Today's plans (the ones that I wrote down!)
** Make and deliver meal (6pm) to a local family. They had a baby 6 weeks ago that was born with a heart defect. Little baby Lincoln had two heart surgeries and spent 6 weeks in NICU in the big city. They are home from the hospital now, so we set up a mealtrain for them.
** 6:30pm Go to the city to watch locally produced movie. All actors, script and video were done by people in our tiny town. They have arraigned for their premiere to be shown on the big screen at a theatre.
** Continue with DD11 bedroom project. The remaining items of the big mound of STUFF are spread across the living room floor in about a 12' by 8' area. I am separating the STUFF into a 2' by 2' grouping so DD11 can focus on sorting a smaller amount of stuff at a time.
** Work on today's assignment in DDF course

There were some tears last night. DD11 cried because her room is different. Although the painting change is her own creation and she was happy doing it, later she was crying because of nostalgia. It was like she was grieving the loss of the way her bedroom used to be painted?!! I'm going to talk to DD11 therapist/counselor about this and hopefully get some insight.

I'm up and have a good start on my morning routines. Dh is working this morning. Hoping he doesn't put in more than his 4 hours. He's slowly feeling better.

Dh decided he wanted to take advantage of a special 'deal' at the casino in Batavia Thursday to celebrate our 64th anniversary (tomorrow). Not my cup of tea but will go as it's a good get-away for dh.

Still waiting on a call/message from his Gastro dr. with an appointment -watch it be Thursday! I'm so frustrated with all of it. All the differing instructions from Dr's, changes in meds. For the life of me we can't figure out why his GP took him off his potassium when it was already low as shown in his blood work last Wednesday. I just arbitrarily put him back on it & what a difference it made in how he felt.

Good morning Cathy, Twins, Harriet, LadyM, and all who follow!

Today is DC's 20th (!) birthday, and I have my work (or my errands, anyhow) cut out for me. Just a couple of days ago, I learned of a present that would be perfect for them (a Le go succulents kit; they like succulents, and they like the bricks). It can be had at Tarjay, but all those close to me are sold out. There are some (or at least one each) at two different ones about 25 miles away in 2 different directions. There is an actual Le go Store closer than that, but I can't look up their stock online, so I will call as soon as they open to see if they have any in stock. I suppose to LadyM, 25 miles is a trip around the block.

We have a break in the heat today, so I have turned the a/c unit to fan only, since I can't open that window, and opened up the house. Outside of the living room oasis, it is hotter inside than out. Harriet, we had an all-day threat of rain yesterday with no results, too; it finally did rain overnight, which, I think, brought the cooler weather. Hoping for the same for you.

That is so cool about the local movie, LadyM! As for DD, the "algia" part of "nostalgia" is pain, after all. I suppose she's mourning her childhood a little, too. It's hard to grow up -- at least it has been for my DC, who has had to be dragged kicking and screaming to each stage (when they were in kindergarten, they wished they were back in preschool, for heaven's sake!). But I'm sure your DD will soon enjoy her self-designed space.

Sorry to hear about blessed's refrigerator. blessed and Twins -- do look for new refrigerators sooner rather than later, especially if you have some idea of what you want and would not be pleased to take whatever you can get. We have been waiting over a month for our new refrigerator, surviving mostly on my old college refrigerator (which, fortunately, was larger than the tiny cubes). We can keep dairy and cold cuts in there, but we have not been eating much fresh produce these past few weeks. It's not like there's nothing out there, but we figured if we were going to buy something that we would expect to last 20 years, we wanted to get something we actually wanted. Of course, we're constrained by our old house -- BB did have something we would have been happy to get, but it wouldn't fit through our door.

I hope you have a lovely anniversary, Dee, and that your DH continues to feel better and better.

I am going to do some work in the kitchen before I can call the store. I was hoping DD would come along with me, but she is still sleeping, which is unusual for her. DC has been up since a reasonable hour, so balance has to be restored in the world, maybe?

Refrigerator talk: Ours is currently in our DR, around the corner from the kitchen. To get it there, however, they had to go through the kitchen and breakfast area, great room, foyer to DR. Dh is freaked out by how much we're spending anyway, and I'd like to not pour salt into his wounds by doing that right now. But we do have an extra in the garage - it's small, and we'd have to purge down to basics, especially in the freezer. Wish I could remember when we bought the old one - I know it was in our old house, which was 2012.

Our bottom cabinets will be in by Thursday and we're set up for the counter people to come for the template then, with installation of counters on 10 Aug. That feels like real progress!

I'm upstairs set up for portfolio work. I haven't touched it since Thursday, when my day was so broken up that I needed time to settle myself. We had a fairly quiet weekend and it was such a happy relief yesterday to have cabinets gone.
