cooking takes time - geesh - I loved to cook but I will say that it takes up a lot of my brain and time (well more than I want to do).
I took down and shucked the rest of the corn - cooked 8 for a salad and the rest shucked and put in fridge for other dishes this week. dh likes the cob.
I have had corn for a month on a regular basis. Everyone loved it.
I have lots of basil that needs to be used - I don't have the freezer space right now to freeze cubes of basil with olive oil.
what needs doing:
clean up kitchen.
you have no idea how much I want to work outside - but I know I have to finish putting away. I will time myself in the kitchen.

Re: to thrive, to bloom, to flourish - Thriving Thursday
I'm glad I didn't plan to cook this evening. The stove is pulled out again and kitchen a mess. It's taking all day to install the under cabinet lighting and I know he's frustrated with it. I called earlier for "call ahead" seating to eat out. I hope that on Monday we'll have it together enough for me to cook again. Maybe I'll have my life together by then?
bw2, I also need to harvest basil and put in the freezer.

Mowing prep took longer than actually mowing the front yard.
Rolled up hoses.
Fueled mower.
Front yard it mowed, backyard will be later.
-----
Bs tanked before dinner got it back up enough so I could go out
as it cooled off and finish mowing in the back yard so glad to have that done!
showered
Got a bday gift today from my dsis.

Re: to thrive, to bloom, to flourish - Thriving Thursday
d twins you were the one that helped me during my house upheaval in March and April. I was waiting for my home to be okay again even though it was okay for what was going on, in the moment! It's hard! You were a great help to me during that time - you reminded me I was expecting too much out of myself when everything around me was beyond my control.
You are almost there!!! Can you order in tonight? You will be gone for the weekend so anything easy to eat will be a blessing to you! You are doing great!!!! It's not about getting it together. Having other people working and coming in and out of your home takes a lot out of your routine. You are doing what you can and that's good enough! This is a temporary time!!!
I actually couldn't let dh put lights in etc. bc he gets himself so flabbergasted. His flabbergasted is a drain on me.

Re: to thrive, to bloom, to flourish - Thriving Thursday
one load of dishes is on in the dw - unfortunately I didn't do the dishes yesterday as I had a migraine. End result: I have 2 dw loads to do.
cleaned sink
rinsed next load of dishes
made dinner
cleaned out fridge of old stuff
put groceries away - trying to buy fresh veg/fruit twice a week.
what needs to be done next:
sweep the kitchen floor, then vacuum, then rinse
vacuum family room
vacuum laundry room
I have a hard time with visual clutter: no wonder!!!!
what visual clutter is there: this is a
room ---- the geesh room
family room:
dog blankets are all willy nilly on the floor
a book is on the floor
a back scratcher is on the floor - why?
cat food cans taken by dogs are on the floor
water bottle is on the floor
kitchen: visual clutter
kitchen table:
folded cloths on table
hot cocoa mix
5 water bottles
checking account
pads to wash the floor
curtains to be ironed for 3 season room
a dirty counter and stove
cpap manual.
counters: cpap machine cleaned
measuring tape
booklet and pen
parm cheese container
phone
a load of dishes for dw emptied and put in the remainder and turned on again
paint,
utensils soaking - in dw washing themselves
bowls from last night's dogs dinner
a swiffer duster thing (dogs)
swept floor
reminder: Dana of a slob comes clean: " I can't do everything, Better is good enough"
what will help me to make things easier: (after I do the above)
put away the hammock so that cutting the grass will be easier - I am always moving it and it won't be used this fall.

d twins - basil was great this year! What do you do with yours?
d Nancy - when is your birthday?
I have walleye for dinner as well - I don't think I want to turn on the broiler. Maybe pan fry lightly.
I am hitting a drained point. not sure what I will do next.
dogs are sooooo bored.

Ramblin', very happy to hear such a good report about your dmother and her caregiver. You need to rest after a long trip.
LadyM, summer squash here is being put through food processor with carrot for sandwich filling. Yum. I hope you find wonderful uses and have an abundant haul!
Ds is mowing and weed-eating today. So, I'm just nervous as a cat. I always hate it when large motors are going outside, and I can't see that everything is okay. Control? perhaps. Experience that things can go wrong? Definitely. He's a fire chief and I still think I should be watching over him.
Yesterday was the big in-person grocery shopping trip for us. We truly finished up as tired people. Whew.
Had a phone call yesterday from maybe my two favorite old church friends - at least in top few. They were together for a home project and called me with speaker phone. Enjoyed that. Many chuckles.
I've had the sewing machine out for days. (mending, hemming, altering - nothing that is a start-to-finish project) Also quite a bit of sitting with some handwork, etc. Hopefully one more mending chore and I can move on to other things, although I have thought of one more "need", of course. We'll see.

Harriet, you and I were both sewing today! It was great company!
I got all the sewing done on the bathrobe except for the buttons which I will do tonight. Calling it a success. I've corralled all the fabric pieces back into their boxes and those will go away in a jiffy. I can see the dining room tabletop again.
Twins, I'm happy for you that your kitchen project is coming to an end. You will feel so good when it's finished.
Blessed, sorry you get migraines. These things stop us in our tracks don't they.
Last meal of leftovers tonight. Tomorrow I'll have to cook again. I could easily give that up if someone else would cook around here. DH cooks, frozen pizza and store-bought rotisserie chicken. Who wants a steady diet of that?
Busy week next week. Lunch out with a friend one afternoon and Friday my bible study for this season starts. Actually, it will be nice to be out of the house for a bit. With the gas prices what they are I've been getting out less frequently.
