I had planned on doing all kinds of work today but because I have worked very hard this week; I have decided to give myself a play day!
I changed the pool water for the dogs after washing the pool.
played with the dogs for over an hour. They have a favorite duck that I toss and it was again a hit!
changed the bird water as well.
we will not have rain this week so I started zone watering today.

So today is a slow day

dw emptied and then filled from last night - turned on.
I have to empty this tonight so that I can get back to a easy routine for the morning in the kitchen.

what I might do:
measure the inside yard for the landscape designer
measure my flower area (I might add a foot to make it wider).
measure the veg garden for next year. figure out how much dirt and compost to put in.
measure where the brick will be for the swing.
I have decided not to plant a fall veg garden (maybe garlic).

or iron the curtains and hang up the curtain rods - this will get me ahead and might make me feel finished in this area.

or think about Christmas, thanksgiving and halloween.

oh I found more pumpkins growing! hopefully bugs won't hit them so that I have pumpkins for either my great nieces and nephews or for the neighborhood kids.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Talked to dd just a little while ago and asked her if she'd called her doc and told him she has Covid. I know there's a med they give within so many days of onset. Her office is closed but 'teledoc' advised her to take flonase and zyrtec for now and call the office first thing Monday morning. Said they should be able to just call in a script. Teledoc can't do that.

Was out talking w/d neighbor. We're going to wait until near sundown to clean out dh's coat closet and see if we can eliminate some things. Told her my plan to revamp the deck and she's agreeable to help me. Probably not all this weekend however.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

I took DS14 to get his newly repaired dirt bike (did a top end...whatever that is). However, the bike didn't make it 50' before quitting. DS14 and the mechanic tried over and over. So, the bike went back into the shop to have more repairs.

I've finished an in-depth study for tomorrow's small group. I need to get a head start on next week's study because it can take me hours as I go verse by verse.

(((LadyM's ds))) Sounds like our truck. After $300+ on Tuesday, we took the truck back to the shop on Thursday, and spent another $200+. Not quite sure about this but... it is what it is, right? The owner of the shop graduated with me and played football for dh... dh's cousin works in the office there... I do think they are reputable, but still... as dmom said, EVERYTHING is sooo expensive these days.

(((HUGS))) to Dee's dd, also, and of course, continuing to keep Mr. Dee in mind...

(((LordM))) too...

Well, I have NOT been lazy this morning/today.
After breakfast (from H*rdee's) dgd and I played a game (of her own invention, it involved catching a ball and drawing a card from the Old Maid deck if you missed)...
then we went outside and
* put the new address sign on the fence post at the road
* used the new Alien tape to put a vent cover back in (the under-floor vents for the crawl space, I don't know what to call this)
* pruned the stray growth of shrubs
Then... feeling too hot... came in and cooled off, half-way changed sheets (they are in the washer, will put the same ones back on the bed)
Then went out and played just a wee bit of softball with dgd but ooohhh... sooo hot...

Took dgd to the other grandparents' house, brought dgs home with me... took shower... talked to ds on phone...

I need a NAP.
Tomorrow is another day.

LucyLee the prices have really gone up for parts. Dh isn't happy that he has to pass these higher prices on to his customers.

We had BBQed pork chops along with boiled potatoes (from the garden) and barely boiled green beans (from the garden). We both like fresh veggies to be a little hard instead of over cooked.

Dh and I both agreed that last night's supper will be repeated.

March 2021 DH took his old pickup to the body shop to get it repainted. 16 months later they still haven't finished it. This is a successful and busy body shop with many vehicles that come, get fixed and go through the shop each week. They have decades of experience and are highly rated. A couple weeks ago DH finally decided he was tired of waiting and went to get the vehicle and take it to a different body shop. That didn't happen because his pickup is not drivable. All the body parts including the windows have been removed from his pickup. I don't even want to know how much this paint job will cost OR when the pickup will be returned to us.

I picked up a couple of DS14 friends so they could come over to our home. They have been outside for the past couple of hours.

A lifelong friend dropped by our home this afternoon to visit. I am relieved to have a clean living room to welcome people into. This time last week it was a disaster area with bedroom stuff.

I cooked pork steaks tonight, but everyone had already eaten their choice of leftovers. The carb leftover side dish stash is getting low so I need to replenish it with potatoes. We had rice and pasta dishes this week, so mashed russet potatoes are next.

Whew — that is a LONG wait on the truck, LadyM!
Cathy, thanks for the reassurance that this parts problem/cost is so widespread. The first repair was for a new distributor. The second was for spark plugs. The cost of the spark plugs was a little over $100, and then labor was that much also, plus re-setting/checking the timing.
Tomorrow is another day.
