Make Today Count Wednesday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Make today count! Reportedly Mohamed Ali said "Don't count the days, make the days count!"

LadyM mentioned her 100 day challenge to the end of year the other day. What kind of day to day challenges do you give yourself? Finishing tasks by end of week? End of month? Thirty days?

Today 101 days remain to the end of the year, nine days to end of the month. There are three or four days remaining in the week, depending on whether you end your "work week" on Saturday or Sunday.

Make today Count!

I've got to get more done today! I'm slowly getting over the weekend in NOLA. My foot isn't hurting as badly, and I have been chipping away at some of the debris from construction and upheaval.

I woke up worried that I had missed dfriend M's birthday. I depend on Facebook to remind me unfortunately, and I didn't see it on her Facebook page. I finally paged back to last year on Facebook and she had 27 Sept birthday wishes, so I haven't missed it, apparently. But I was confused because I remembered that two years ago it was on Yom Kippur, the day of Atonement when we were home watching it on Zoom - but I was remembering wrong because YK was the day after her birthday. (I remember this because we were watching YK services on Zoom and her back was out and she was in bed - I went down the street to check on her. She eventually had to have surgery on it. But it was the day after her bd that her back went down, not the day of her birthday.) Anyway, I'm okay there. I need to find a card upstairs and see if one of my aloe plants would make a little gift.

Whoops, I can't believe it's almost nine a.m. I need to get a hair cut at 10:30. I must find breakfast and do a.m. routine!

Wow quiet day in our village today.

I had a bunch of stuff to do last night before I turned in and I was up insanely late. I gotta quit doing that. I don't know that I have a long-term challenge of some sort...though every day I do work on cleaning out this house of any clutter. So that is always on my mind. Today my focus is on getting DH through his prep.

He came to me and said he sure would like to eat something and he wanted instructions on the 2 things I left in the refrigerator for him. Gave him some jello. Told him about the chicken broth in there. Man, he's all confused. When his routine gets changed around he's not sure what's up or down.

Doing desk chores. Reconciled a bank account. Paid 2 bills online. 1 check to the mail.

Need to work on my study. I'm behind with that.

On my mind for today: change at least 1 bed. A few pieces of hand wash to do. Go water plants I moved. I'm sure there's more to do around here.

Have a nice day!

I hope all is well with LadyM and her family. I recall concerns about dMIL earlier in the week. She usually checks during the morning.

Hair cut is done. I walked through the Tuesday Morning store - they have reset it and it seems like it's less crowded with less merchandise. I bought a tall plastic container with a lid for compost. It will fit under the sink, where I used to keep compost before. I've signed up with a composting company that picks it up every other week. I composted in our other house, although it was more "throwing it out in the woods" in mostly the same spot. Hard to get used to the change. I have two five gallon buckets that will get picked up every other week, and I earn "compost credits" to get compost back. So we'll see how that works.

I have a headache going. Have had it a day or two maybe? Last night I wanted to get a better night's sleep and took tylenol and benydryl but my cough (allergies) had me up at least twice.

I need to set a timer and just work - at TOTH probably. Need lunch first.

So sweet bw2! Same here!

Yes d twins, it is unusual for her not to be here first thing. - I am worried about d lady's Mom in law.

lovely hair cut d twins (You and d harriet had a trim as well! dh is on his way to get his "ears lowered" as he calls it.)
I have never been to the Tuesday morning store! I will have to check it out.
That is a nice program. give your food scrapes etc and you get compost back.

I am praying your headache goes away. I had a headache for 4 days and I wonder if you all are now getting the lower pressure that we had. Hope you feel better fast!

hi d Nancy mmm sorry the phone Number was different.
yay on desk duty getting accomplished.
yay on walking dog and doing laundry.

hi d harmony - it is quiet today.
Yay on focusing on de-cluttering as you go along! thinking of your dh!!! I am sorry he is feeling confused. it is hard when the routine is off. yay on desk duties.

hello all! I am thinking of you even if you are not able to be here!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

I am kind of flitting from place to place but things are happening.

-did some garage clean up to get things off the floor
-got out more fall seasonal things
-put away some more summer things that I found
-sorted some of the books that ended up in DR - some were cookbooks, some were books we used as props over the cabinets for display.
-started a honey do list
-started a load of laundry
-rearranged some items on our bookcases

Lots more I don't remember...

Will go again for 45 min...

~~Waving Hello to all~~~

I am trying to "put the oxygen mask on first" ....meaning making taking care of myself a priority. It is a challenge because I can only focus on myself in between focusing on others. ANYway, this morning that meant I did the first 4 routines in a timely manner to get the day off to a smooth start. Then I took DD11 to school before taking myself to the garden. I wanted to get 4k steps in before it gets hot and the garden is my favorite place to walk & stretch while doing something enjoyable. After that was achieved DS14 and I started homeschooling lessons. DS14 is now working on the last 2 assignments by himself. I am not sure that he can do those two alone but I want him to struggle a bit. It has been my experience that struggling can be helpful when learning new skills. If he can't get them by himself, then I'll sit with him and work through the problems together one step at a time.

DH arrived home around 10am after staying all night with his DMom. She was up most of the night so DH didn't sleep. DH came home and ate breakfast, took a shower, and then went to bed.

I made manwich for DH to eat when he wakes up. The kids won't eat it because it has vegetables (onions, 3 kinds of peppers). I don't eat it because it has ketchup.

I made myself a big skillet of stir fry with 5 types of vegetables and 3 types of protein. That combination makes my macro goals almost perfect. It feels like a game to me.
