Trash Day Tues. / Check In.

I am up after 6 hrs. of good sleep.
I'm still mending but improving, face is not so swollen today yea!
Trash will go out to the curb after it gets daylite here.
I did a granny square yesterday so that is three yarn projects I worked on.
I am now current on a devo. that I got behind on.
I have a meal plan for today that helps.
It is sunrise outside no w got the trash out yea!

Yes, thinking of getting that trash out.

It's recycling or "National Crush Day" for U.S., a day that encourages to get our recyclable trash to the cans, ideally crushed to a more manageable size.

Rosh Hashanna continues through to this evening.

HRH is dog-sitting this morning for ddil. I don't think I'll go. The dog is probably better off with one person, although she knows both of us.

Headlines about Florida today make me think of several of our villagers and families.

Have we definitely heard from Cathy regarding all that happened in in her region?

I only have one cousin in FL and he and I emailed last evening. He says, being relatively inland, he and wife will huddle and hope their roof is not too vulnerable. He finished all he can do. Was only planning on tying down trash cans today. Their dd is a veterinary hospital assistant. I hope she doesn't have any bad situations come out of this for her patients.

Hi! The storm was on the east coast with most of the damage being in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Prince Edward Island had at least 300 hydro poles knocked over and crews from Ontario took their trucks and equipment down there to help. We got some wind and rain, but we are quite far away from the storm area. I'm just north of where Dee spends her summers.

It's actually raining here, but nothing too strong. It's gotten cooler as well.

Supper tonight will be BBQ steak with a foil packet of onions and potatoes and another one of carrots. (Dh requested and he never liked carrots until I came back into his life.)

Yesterday I read Lucylee's opening, with her questions about the new year, then shut down my computer and didn't come back through until last night, on the iPad. Just powered up the computer, with a real keyboard this morning. She asked:

Twins, does it really seem like a new year? Do you sorta get that same fresh start feeling that we all do on Jan. 1?

And I was thinking about the question during services...The answer is that it really does - another of the fresh starts like the beginning of the school year or the calendar year. I think the services themselves see to that - I'm not sure I felt it the last two years when we were Zooming services. (Last year was live, but I did not attend, only Zoomed.) Much of the music and readings are special are are only read at the Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur so I do end up feeling that this was something special and a real reset.

The rabbi's sermon yesterday began with the lost time of the pandemic - that it had been three years since we last gathered in the sanctuary in a large group for services. That thought almost made me weep with emotion. It's been a crazy few years hasn't it? Talking to two doctors on Sunday evening at services, one was of the opinion that the pandemic is "over." That COVID will stay with us, but that it is manageable. The other, retired, didn't feel so sure about proclaiming it over. Anyway, it was an emotional holiday. I kept thinking of the words of a blessing that we say on special occasions:

Blessed are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of all, who has kept us alive, sustained us, and brought us to this season.

So true in so many ways right now. Anyway, I hope no one minds the trip into Judaic blessings - we are truly alive, sustained, and brought into the new season!

We had the RH party/luncheon yesterday. "Only" had twenty-two, including us, and it was nice to have a smaller group here. We had appetizers while the brisket reheated and ate about 2:15 or so. Everything was well received. I managed to make the gefilte fish (literally, chopped fish) without the egg white, so when cooked, it didn't hold together in a loaf. I heaped it on a small platter over lettuce and it was still tasty, if not solid.

The last group still here, and dh, did a lot of clean up but there's plenty still to do to get things back to "normal." Not even sure what that is anymore, given the summer we've had with kitchen constructions.

Today I have much needed "body work" at 11:30 and beyond that it's getting things back together here and getting myself upstairs to the desk! (Thank goodness!) Dh is bowling tonight and I have an "accountability group" meeting at seven p.m. on Zoom.

We have nice weather this week with projected rain from Ian by Saturday. It's gorgeous here - perfect early fall weather right now.

By the way, dh already had trash out this morning! And I have to remember now to put compost buckets out every other Tuesday a.m. They send a reminder email, thankfully. I took them out last night, since they might come as early as 8 a.m.

I visited the SHE village earlier but was greeted with an error message. I am thankful to see it has recovered and am grateful to Kathryn and Ken for keeping it running. Did you know it cost them money to keep this forum going? At the bare minimum they pay yearly fee for the URL name (shesorganized.org) and they pay for webhosting space. Plus, giving their time and expertise.

Twins - I enjoyed reading about your RH experience this year. I get emotional also when I look back at the last couple of years and all the changes.

I took a peek into the news to see what is happening with the weather. Do you have a favorite website to stay up with Ian information? My thoughts and prayers are with those in the path of Ian. Our local news showed miles of electrical trucks in a convoy leaving for Florida to assist in the repairs.

It is trash day here too. I had most of the trash bags taken to the road before I took DD11 to school. I finished when I came back home.

DD sent pictures of their house all boarded up usually with DBiscuit in each picture. Sure she's wondering what's going on! Dbil is going there today to weather out the storm. His Dsisil who lives in a mobile home in front of theirs is going to weather with some other neighbors. Guess dsonil is going over to take him to their house after his radiation treatment today, ????? thought he was all through radiation so not sure what this is.

I called dh's cardiologist's office earlier to find out when he's supposed to go off the Eliquis the Dr put him on before his cardioversion. The receptionist looked at his records and said he's supposed to stay on it. We both understood he would be on for 30 days after the procedure. Sure hoping that's the case both because it's bothering him so much being so cold and the excessive bleeding that comes with it. I asked her to check to make sure. I looked up on pharmacy plan and see it's over $425-90 day supply. That added to another heart med he takes plus the T relegy he takes for COPD takes a big chunk out of our income. Plus there's all the other meds he has at a cheaper rate. Oh, well, it will be what it will be. Living well is more important than $$$.

Going to spend the next hour working on our "End Of Year" lists. There's so many things to remember to do when you close up everything for the winter. At least I think so.

Hmm, I guess it's "trash day" here too. At least I heard the trucks emptying the dumpsters earlier. We try to get most of our trash following Tuesdays' pick ups as there's a lot more room then.

Just talked with DD in FL -she was wondering if we had any LED battery operated lights in our bedroom there. She did find something for Dbil to use while he's there if needed. She made sure he had the remote for our TV so he can tune in "his" station if he wants it -they will not be watching it. Though I imagine mostly he'll be watching the hurricane.

DD did say they've now upped their amount of rainfall to between 20-32". They are already so saturated it's not funny. Said the Peace River which is not far from them is already at flood stage. Sure Harmony and RR are getting much the same. She's most worried about the huge oak trees -2 in front and one out back. In fact the ones out front are right in front of our bedroom window. As with Harmony, it's been a while since they boarded everything up. The marks are all faded where screws had to go so it took them longer to mount the plywood. They didn't have enough for their bedroom which is on the south side of the house and away from all trees. After they pick up Dbil this afternoon she's going to move her car as far as possible on the far side of the driveway.

Well I use NOAA website to monitor the storm.

Harmony and I are both on storm surge here and in her area… though I’m not sure exactly where she is … there is a mandatory evacuation. My son and family is headed towards Ft Lauderdale but they are calling for evacuations there.

We put our garbage cans in the garage but it got really stinky in there. So we transferred the stinky stuff to another smaller container and then put it out in our lanai. Sweetie washed the stinky can out and we put it back in the garage. I also videoed the entire outside and inside of our home. Our neighbors on either side of us and also across the street are all staying and we are all stayin in touch with each other.

Dee… I predict we are going to loose our electricity so watching tv may be null.

I'm always thinking we are able to take care of ourselves but we're not doing so good right now.

nephew and his wife and daughter are coming to stay and a fellow he works with.... man this is a mess. I am running around trying to get ready for "company" even though that's not the most important thing. He is bringing 2 cats and DH is terribly allergic to cats...

Battery on big truck with the generator is dead. DH gone off to get battery. He's tried to charge it twice.

Cleaning out 2nd bedroom so friend can stay.

Oh I can't even breath.

We just got a call from the county they want us to evacuate, but they did the same during Irma. DH isn't going. Now we have houseful of people and animals.
