Thanks for the suggestion, Lady M. I finally figured out the directions and did it. (My first try btw). It's saying negative, thank goodness. Can't imagine what a positive would do to my plans to fly Saturday. We have plenty of tests that's for sure.

Meantime I talked with our neighbor (here) and she takes care of several older adults. When she went to visit one lady earlier this week, the woman was showing signs of a respiratory infection. M told her they needed to test for Covid -"I'm certain it's not Covid". So M did the test for her which came back positive. Woman wouldn't believe & said the test was too near expiration. So M went to the pharmacy and picked up a new one -also positive. M had told her right away to put on her mask and so did M. M proceeded to clean everything on herself, purse, etc with sanitized wipes. Then the woman paid her by check & M proceeded to wipe that down as well. Told her she couldn't take care of her as she cares for too many to get exposed. I asked if she'd called for the medicine but I guess her primary retired and she doesn't have one. But it seems she can get a script from somewhere. And so it goes...............

I was going to ask this gal if worse comes to worse if she'd be able to come help us get ready to go. Didn't even bother asking as I sure don't want to take a chance on being exposed if I can help it. This is the same neighbor who has helped us so much.

Cathy - Thank you for the input about diesel/gas pickups. It prompted me to ask DS14 "Explain to me why you want a diesel pickup instead of gas pickup". He gave me a 10 minutes detailed explanation that mostly made my eyes glaze over. I asked him to give me a simpler explanation and it came down to torque. He named dozens of people who use diesel pickups for their job because a gas pickup can't handle their requirement. Most of the people he named are in the construction field, ranchers or welders that routinely pull heavily loaded trailers. DS14 doesn't have a need now for a diesel pickup....so why get one? If his plans happen, he will need one in a couple of years. So, he is monitoring the used diesel pickups market to find a sweet deal. Ditto on pickup bed type. He will need a flat, utility, or welding type bed instead of a "normal" pickup bed. IMHO, he should save his money for the next couple of years instead of trying to predict what vehicle he will need for the future. Maybe he won't find that sweet deal and he will just continue to save. Maybe.

Harmony - I wish a strong young man that is eager to listen and learn could team up with your DH. That would be a powerful combination.

This week DS14 is learning how to take apart and sand kitchen cabinets in a house they are renovating. His boss doesn't do much of the hands-on work but explains how to do it, provides the tools, and monitors DS14 progress.

Chili is underway. I didn't get it going as early as I prefer so it will only have a couple of hours to simmer before being judged. IMHO chili is a dish that gets better with more time to let the flavors meld. Ohs well.

bw2, dd thinks this gal is a little unbalanced right now, perhaps a gone Bridezilla? But I hate it because they've been friends since they were kids. Perhaps they've outgrown each other somehow? We see her and her family at temple often.

(Wash) I did a load of laundry after supper last night and put it in the dryer for over night. I also ran the dishwasher. I haven't emptied the dishwasher yet.

(Weather) I decided to get up (?) to the accountant's office today. I wanted to get there and back before the rain. I got there before the rain but it was pouring when I left his office. He's in Hamilton in an area referred to as the "top of the mountain" which is part of the Niagara Escarpment. The highway is all uphill to get to his office. I had been putting it off and I decided that the weather isn't going to get any better now that November is next week, so off I went.

(Waiting) Had to call the Humane society to put off the meet and greet with the (hopefully) new-to-us cat until Sunday as we now have a funeral to go to on Saturday. Now we have to wait until Sunday to see new cat.

Today is the 55th anniversary of my mother's death. It's also the 9th anniversary of my dad's death.

Supper tonight will be for dh mostly. I had a huge lunch at the mall beside the accountant's office. Dh has requested pasta shells and ham with mozzarella cheese on top.

Gardened a bit got vol. hollyhocks out and transplanted to next to the house.

Back from home sinko run it went okay this time. I did ask for help to be sure I got the right door knobs yea!
I went to the thrift shop first that was fun got some great items.

Finds:
A journal, a bag I've already painted over the logo to make it mine, was from a hosp. for new parents I painted over
the family word and it just says "beginnings" now with a flower. Got a butterfly shoulder sling bag like kids use for school,
a journal with Renoir on the front in the size I like soft cover, insp. crush your goals, a b&w plaid foot stool, ka butterfly, square organizer
for my desk, already used it and spiffed up my desk!

Kitchen floor is done. And dry. I still have to put everything back and then dh and I will walk over to the store.

The floor scrubbing is a major job, no wonder I put it off all the time. After an hour (only scrubbing for about half that time, the rest was prep), I had to take a break and stretch out my legs because they were sore from crawling around on them. It was demoralizing to realized I was just over half done at that point.

My jeans are tight stretchy fabric so I was able to flip up the bottoms and tuck dd's old shin pads from soccer in the pocket. Then I had an old chair cushion for when I got too sore with just the knee pads.

Anyway, there's no way I'll be doing this as a monthly chore. Although, the tops of my feet (trailing along as I crawled) were quite dirty when I finished and went to put socks on for the final rinse with the damp mop.

I cleaned up and both rinse water buckets had very dirty water so it was certainly worth it to do both rinses.

Then dh and I went over to the store for his shot and other errands.

On the way home we were hauled into the other building to visit with the ladies having a chat in the lobby there (they saw us coming through the window) and then the super popped in to visit with us too and after that he let me into the storage room with the Halloween decorations so they are now all in my apartment, waiting to be divided up so we can decorate the buildings.

Now, it is time to prep dinner. Dh is cooking himself pasta alfredo and I'll have a frozen lasagna.

I finally got my hair washed and a bath. I prefer doing this early in the morning, but life happened. I have 15 minutes before I leave to get DD11 from academic practice so there isn't enough time to dry and fix my hair. I'll be serving food tonight, so my hairstyle of choice is UP for more than one reason.

I have printed the sample ballot of our next election. I have made decisions on some of the issues & candidates, but there are many that I need some research on. There are 9 judge seats being decided and I'm not familiar with many of them.

Saying good night. Hope you all have a good day tomorrow. Want to head to bed fairly early as I know we have to be up very early. DS-R will be here around 5am to pick up Dh and take him to the hospital. At least I know this throat isn't Covid.

It would have worked years ago if a young man wanted to work with DH. Now, DH doesn't have the energy to keep putting in hours of work without sitting to rest. He has never gotten over the fact that none of the DGKids wanted to take over his business. He would have given someone everything and worked with them and taught them everything they needed to know. Then he would have felt like all his work building his business was not for nothing, to just see it all tossed away. It was his whole life and he put all his energy into it (to the detriment of everything else in his life I have to say) and now to just see it end is just very very hard for him. That's a big part of the problem. He has no other hobbies or things he wants to do.

I am bushed. We got a few more sections of fencing done this afternoon. We are a little more than half way around. We will have to buy some more pickets to replace the damaged ones. When it is all put together we will have to pressure wash the whole thing. There are a lot of stains and leaves plastered all over.

I am discouraged. I just see more and more jobs ahead of us. And none of them are easy ones.

I guess I'll do some more research on the ballot.
