Re: Focus Friday
d Kathy - I will say this out of love - is it what you want or/and is this what your other apartment dwellers wants? - I don't think what they said is a no - I think it's a suggestion. Why not email others in your building and see if they still want to do it. That will give you a answer on how to move forward. if there is a couple apartments that want to do then have it. Take in account other peoples concerns but if you even get 5 then just enjoy their company and keep it simple.

Re: Focus Friday
I spoke to dh about my lack of Christmas spirit and told him I am okay with it but I am accepting how I am feeling. I can't pretend but I can move on and continue the holiday. I think if I force it then I will struggle too much.
So today: working on things that are outside Christmas prep
heading upstairs to wash everything in upstairs bathroom cabinets (bc of gross mice)
I will store things in zip bags and place them in the persons room that it belongs to while we set up traps.
it's not going to be Christmas for mice
Waiting for the mice people to call to set up an appointment. I am sure the holidays is a difficult time to get people out.

this popped up today -
"Just because you are struggling, it doesn't mean your failing"
I like that. it's true.

Re: Focus Friday
Blessed it is not too late to reschedule dh eye exam. That is what I suggest.
I have been up a while trying to plow through a mood sigh got journals done.
Sheets are in the wash.
Mended a quilt went better and faster than I was thinking it would go.
Decluttered part of the kitchen counter, put cups and jars out in the shop.
Sheets are in the dryer.
I had my lunch.

Re: Focus Friday
I have been prepping food for future meals. Chopping vegetables and doing a little cooking. I made a Sweet Kale salad kit but modified it by adding a package of angel hair cabbage. I like the taste of the kit but I prefer to increase the ratio of vegetables to dressing. I am also making the sauce for shakshuka dish. Most of the sauce is made with vegetables from the garden and I like to let them simmer for a couple of hours. I've peeled and sliced a couple cucumbers and sprinkled them with Tajin seasoning. I like for them to have time to fully develop the the flavors before eating.
I spent a few minutes preparing the area for plumbers to work in. As I keep working on decluttering & organizing the garage it is becoming easier to utilize that space. There wasn't much to move in that area but I needed to sweep the garage floor. The plumbers are coming this afternoon to do yearly maintenance on the water softener system.

Re: Focus Friday
thank you d Nancy!!! it's wonderful that you do journals! yay on your sheets being washed, the quilt looks good. yay on decluttering the kitchen.
------------------------------
I 100% agree d Nancy but Dh will not change it. I tried but he is set on it. I also tried to communicate that dd younger will be home and he is still adamant. I think if he took care of Christmas then he would be more likely to change it. He insists his doctor won't let him cancel.
I know that's not true. I have to admit there is a little resentment about this for me which I am trying to dispel. frustration: 1. because he didn't tell me, 2. because he put it before Christmas, 3. because he will not bend. 4. he doesn't grasp why it is frustrating that I want him to change it. I don't even know what time it is at. It's supposed to 8 degrees that day and I have to wait in the car as the office is super crowded. I will bring my nice wooly mittens lol -
----------------------------------
well done on prepping meals d lady!
my kids love Tajin - I wish I did - but we always have a bottle or two here.
good luck with the plumbers today!
-------------------------------------
I took ad vil bc my hip and my muscles hurt a lot (yesterday as well). I told myself I was just a little hippy. it's always good to have a corny laugh at oneself.
I am glad I have been decluttering over the years - the bathroom did not take long to clean - I had to toss the cotton cleansing pads as the mice had a field day with it. I found how they got into that cabinet and am hoping the mice guys will be able to seal everything.
everything has been bleached and put away in another area - once things are dry I will put items in zip lock bags and find a home while we work on this mouse problem.
-------------------------------------------
I ordered more Holiday cards and they should be here the 19th.
I am going to order cards from now on - I have to admit I have become one of those people who put their dogs (and dd's dog) on our card (oh and a garden pic) as I didn't have any group pictures with our dd's. i will make sure we take pictures at one of the weddings in 2023.
---------------------------------------------
I think I might take a nap.

Re: Focus Friday
Plumbers called and rescheduled our appt for next week. One of the technicians just went home sick so they won't be here today. I am thankful they didn't come here while sick.
I called and got DH an appt with our family doctor for next Monday. DH and I discussed the treatment our previous family doctor used that worked for him. DH will go discuss this treatment with our current family doctor to see if he agrees.
I have been successful in meeting hourly 250 step goal for the first 7 hours today. Yesterday I broke my 33-hour streak of meeting step goal because I was driving and not paying attention to the steps in hour goal. I'm 1000% okay with that because I'm trying for progress not perfection.

Re: Focus Friday
Trip for groceries was uneventful. Had to leave a comment online because the poblano peppers were too old to be available for sale - blotched and flimsy. Otherwise, I complimented the fellow who helps load, as usual.
blessed, I posted that recipe in Sadie's "Helpful Healthy Recipes and Alternatives" thread in "She's In The Kitchen" section.
Tried to go over and get the grandpuppy to take a walk and pee. She did not. (Well, she agreed to be taken outdoors - that's the only agreement.) I've texted dd24 to let her know nothing happened for me. I don't know when dd24 gets off work to come and try again and I hope she doesn't come just in time to find an accident. Grandpuppy is confined on the vinyl flooring, at least. Dd24 is house- and dog-sitting while dd42 takes her boys to the in-law family gatherings for the weekend.
blessed, some dr's appts are predictable in length. If you knew this one would be long enough, you could go into a nearby store or coffee shop for a bit to warm up - or go through a drive through for a warm drink or something. Or, is there some item you could pick up along the way on that same trip? I realize that would keep you away from dd just that much longer, but at least it would get something done.
So far, I am loving this idea of my own (small) gift to myself happening at the family gathering. I don't know why this tickles me so much. I decided against "Santa" on the "from" line because it might point at HRH. I'll leave it blank. Found wrap and a tag from decades ago so they will be mysterious to the kids.

Re: Focus Friday
Slow but steady progress on the payroll deadline. Coworker just finished and uploaded his changes so I can input mine. I would like to leave payroll before 7 pm tonight. I have been leaving at around 8 pm every night for the last two weeks. Today was supposed to be my day off for the 9/80 shift. I have swapped several days off in the interest of getting 'er done. (I do not lose them, but I kinda need them right now, for my sanity).
I have no idea what I should do for dinner. Because I ate such a late breakfast, I doubt I will get hungry for lunch. I have some microwavable meals if I do and some snacks. Tonight, I need to get more Christmas cards and will pick up a treat for myself while I am there. Something like this http://www.albertsons.com/shop/product- ... 14915.html.
Maybe researching shore excursions will help me relax because they are for my vacation. Unfortunately, that vacation won't be here until May, but the really cool thing is: I've already paid for it except the shore excursions (they were not posted until later) and by the time the trip rolls around not only will the whole thing be paid for, but the savings it used will be replenished.
I will be traveling on Thursday, maybe I should consider things like checking the cat food supply and doing some laundry. This weekend, I would like to get the generator going and make sure it works. It has been so blasted miserably cold I have not wanted to be out long enough to do it. I also don't want to do it at night because I have never run a generator before.
