Re: Suddenly Second Saturday
I had to laugh this morning (but was first in shock) bc I thought I had so much work yesterday; but found that I had stuff out all over! How!
I still have the theory that when I sleep that the stuff comes out of the cabinets. The clutter has a grand old party and as soon as I and dd's wake up that the stuff just drops in place.
I slept to 10 am again - I was up a couple of times with dogs in the night but I need to go back to a normal time. Falling asleep late is not good for me!
Just start is my goal today:
I am putting an electric canner on my wish list for the near future. I see a lot of people who can their broth, meat etc. and I think it's something I would like to try. I used to water bath can but never pressure canning.

Re: Suddenly Second Saturday
Good afternoon!
I will have to send my DH to lucylee’s house. He has made short work of the decorations around here, finishing up the last of it and moving my desk back into place this morning.
Meanwhile, I have been lollygagging. I just finished breakfast (brunch, I guess) and still need a shower.
Must say how grateful I am that my DH has not been spending any time in the hospital. Prayers for the health of all our other halves — and us, too!
I haven’t accomplished much in these first two weeks; I’ve still been in vacation mode. I think I need to spend the weekend setting myself up for success next week. I’ve already got a few things on my agenda for this weekend, though. Tonight is a party for the adults who help with the Scout troop and their spouses. We’re supposed to bring an appetizer for that — we’re going to make Buffalo chicken dip. Tomorrow, I’m scheduled to read at church, and I need to go visit my mom after so long away. There’s also the weekly call with DH’s family.
Before anything else, I need to get less stinky.

Re: Suddenly Second Saturday
Lucylee, think about how wonderful your house looks when all the holiday decorations are put away. Bare spaces, more everyday things in their places. I look around and I am so happy with the way things look. There are more empty places than I have when Christmas is up. It looks neater and it looks cleaner (even though it isn't). Try to motivate yourself with those thought.
Funny, but this time I didn't just throw everything in boxes. Earlier in Dec. I decluttered some of the stuff and I had less to pack away. And this time I paid attention to how I packed everything up. A couple times already I've gone back into the closet and looked at the boxes up on the top shelf, pleased at how that is. It helped that I did more decluttering in that closet even before I gathered up the decorations. I think I am getting my house more under control. One bedroom needs attention, and then there is the garage which is a whole other matter......
We can all do this!
I am wondering if Harriet missed having a tree this year? Also, crossing my fingers for DD, been watching for this....My GFriend lives in next town in a high-end neighborhood, but those people are all senior citizens. She lives on a big long circle of houses. She says not any of those people, including her, did any decorations outside. I can't imagine. It would make me sad to not do anything. Maybe someday.....
More work on my desk today, a bill to the mail; our order of checks has arrived and I only use a couple per month but this was the smallest order I could get printed. So I organized them them into a little box and found a space for them. I know I will end up burning most of these after we finally quit. Appointments to the calendars. Now if I could get all the cleaning done around here I'd be in real good shape. Oh, I need to bring in the outside lights also, put that on the list for today.
I guess this is good progress for the second week in January.

Re: Suddenly Second Saturday
check in:
sink clean
counters cleaned
stove cleaned
put away in kitchen taken care of
table cleaned
put away in the family room
dh older is doing her laundry
I did one load already that is in the dryer
meds taken
Asked dd's to help me move a shelf in the garage after they come back
hi waving at harmony
dh called and I couldn't understand him - I called his nurse and he had just had a respiratory treatment and the gunk must have gotten caught in his trac. the nurse and her aid went directly to his room and treated him.

Re: Suddenly Second Saturday
Mystery - I will join you in this effort.spend the weekend setting myself up for success next week.
I have discovered my body feels so good after eating shakshuka. I stay full for hours and my energy level is high. Making shakshuka from scratch every day isn't something that I want to do so I am trying a couple of alternatives. I made a batch of the vegetable rich sauce to keep on hand. I am going to experiment with preparing the dish to the point of only needing to cook the egg. I typically start my day with Greek yogurt & berries but if I can figure out how to easily cook shakshuka then the greek yogurt/berries is going to be moved to later in the day. Maybe I will incorporate it into a smoothie. Hum....
250+ hourly step goal met 5 times so far today. I still don't understand how these hourly steps are having such a positive influence on my health markers. I am tracking and observing the changes in several of them.
Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Success loves persistence.

Re: Suddenly Second Saturday
Harmony… I didn’t put a tree up this year and didn’t miss it a bit. Inca t thinking maybe next year I’ll do the same. Maybe a teeny tiny one… I hate taking a tree down!!!
Got back from the car show, made another batch of my moms oatmeal cookies for my son and his family and haven’t tasted or eaten any. That’s a big Atta girl for me!
Also cleaned and cleared all needed things of my lanai. Course now my dinning room is now covered again. Won’t put anything back out till after the screening guys finish on Monday.
Just now drinking my second cup of coffee and taking my vitamins. Better now than never.
Can’t wait to sleep tonight…it’s gonna be a cold one and I’m sleeping with my window open. Last night’s recorded sleep was the best ever. Have a cold room and warm blankets to thank for that

Re: Suddenly Second Saturday
dd is still doing her laundry
my lungs needed an inhaler - I feel good but my lungs are not as happy as they should be. covid is a tricky illness.
I took out the recycling - dh has made the process so hard - cutting everything into little pieces but I am having great success with the simple fold and put in the container.
I feel I can get back to my budget - I was so scattered the last month especially since dh getting sick.
having a simple lunch of yogurt and an apple.
d rose how wonderful that you did Christmas the way you wanted to!!!
yay atta girl! yay for making oatmeal cookies for your family
yay on cleaning up the lanai
hi d lady a vegetable rich sauce sounds lovely! I will look up a shakshuka - I think of a spicy red sauce but I am sure I am wrong.
yay on your steps
dd younger got very upset that I gave away a lego English bus lego set that she never opened in three years. I should have asked. (she said it wasn't about the stuff but not asking her which I can understand).

Re: Suddenly Second Saturday
Did up some biscuits for a late bfast and enough for lunch and froze the rest.
Walked with ddog and she is doing a lot better, short lead yesterday was a great idea.
I think I have 50 / 75% improvement with her already yeqa!
I cannot crack the door as I think ddog would open it. Doing a window is better or to the back yard here.
Picked up the back yard also.
Nearly have all my steps in today just 10% left to do at noon!
My arm is better my wounds are doing nicely.
s2s happened.
Lunch eventually not hungry now may have over - did it on my bfast.
Had lunch finally.
Did a bit more training with ddog in back yard and picked up again again.
