Re: Macro Monday
Yes, it was progressively getting worse.LadyM, were your bones registering that they were soft before the treatment began?
In 2020 my bone density test showed I had beginning osteopenia. I started taking prescription D2 and calcium even though my blood test showed that I wasn't low on calcium and vit d level, but they still wanted me to take more. I did that for 2 years then they did another bone density test in 2022. which showed that I had osteoporosis. Since I have a history of mother & grandmother breaking their hips, they started me on this monthly evenity treatment trying to stop my bone from continuing to deteriorate. I read about the possible side effect of evenity which scared me, but I decided to trust the doctor's judgement and do what he recommended. If I live as long as my mom and grandmother, I have another 20+ years. Hopefully, my bones will be strong enough to hold me up and not break.
DS14 has two big tree limbs cut down. However, they are currently hung up on other trees belonging to the neighbors. The neighbors gave us permission to cut down any of their trees that we wanted to. This is an area of their yard they don't use, and it is full of trees. They also know there is a high probability of this tree cutting project having a result of falling on their fence. It is a 6' wooden picket fence so we can replace any wood pickets that we break. DS14 got the chain saw hung up resulting in bending the bar. DH and DS14 are going to the store to get another bar for the chain saw. It is going to be dark by the time they get back so this will probably halt the tree cutting project for today.

Re: Macro Monday
I just cancelled my body work appt for tomorrow so I can go w dh to follow up w surgeon. He acted like he didn’t care so when I realized I had a conflict I assumed it would be okay. But he’s put out so I’m putting him first.
Oh well. This is a crazy week.

Re: Macro Monday
We also had kitchen spills. ((blessed))
I spilled the leftover black beans out of the refrigerator and onto floor and bottom front of fridge. It took two of us to clean all that up. This is partly because I am so cheap miserly thrifty. I was recycling a plastic tub that probably wasn't meant to truly contain liquids. Not a burping seal (remember those commercials? Truth.). So when it hit, it sent the contents flying.
Science -
HRH had put a Ball (yes, Ball) mason drinking glass into the freezer with some tea in it and it broke into pieces in there with the frozen tea holding it all together. He had to set it (so carefully) into the sink and let it slowly unfreeze in order to throw the glass pieces away. He asked me how in the world a true mason jar product could have done that, uncovered and at room temperature before. I honestly am not sure unless it already had a nick we had missed. I guess maybe the pressure of the liquid freezing was stopped somehow at the shoulders of the jar? Top freezing first?
Yes, I imagine it would be off base to think my current appt-stuff isn't a culprit for my messed-up sleep cycle. I was starting to feel more normal Sunday night, slept well and had a cheerful day today, getting two loads of laundry done. But I feel it.
Inner cat - maybe. There is a catnap demonstration here daily and if I take notes, that should put me right out.

Re: Macro Monday
Watched "All Is Quiet On The Western Front".
It is not a chick flick just sayin I skipped through bunches of the gorey stuff.
Only watched bc it was nominated and took a break in the middle to go outside. I think lh would have enjoyed it.
Homemade bread and pea soup for dinner was good.
Next door Neighbors are back home to night.

Re: Macro Monday
I'm late to the village today (as usual, to be honest) but I had to check in and let y'all know I'm still hanging on to my new attitude.
DESPITE dh being a little grumpy and obtuse tonight in conversation.
Focusing on
— listening to my body (Haven't exercised yet but I do plan to. I did morning stretches and drank some water this morning.
— giving myself credit for every accomplishment
Today's ta-das:
Made 3 (!) "business" phone calls for dmom
Also talked to dbro for a long while on the phone
Discarded a bunch of old spices, one of the weekly tasks from the PPP planner
Started a load of laundry
— practicing gratitude every day I have noticed dh and myself laughing more it seems in the past few days, and I am also very thankful for a restful Sunday yesterday. ALSO -- DH DRIED HIS OWN SHOWER TODAY -- HUGE SIGN THAT HE IS FEELING BETTER!
So that has been my day today, so far.
-- I cancelled dmom's colonoscopy appt for next Monday. She has come around to the same thinking as dh, ds, dbro, and myself -- better to leave well enough alone. She has been doing sooo well the last six weeks. And as dbro and I agreed, she is one of those people that if anything CAN go wrong, seems like it does. She has not had problems with this procedure before, but she just wasn't too gung-ho about prepping for it again while everything is going so well.
-- Also made plans with her for her birthday celebration (+Christmas +Valentine's Day, LOL) which we will do next Tuesday. Her birthday is Wed., March 1, but the dgrands need to be in church that night; children are singing the following Sunday & ddil helps with their class. So she said Tuesday was fine. She asked if I would just make spaghetti and we could do it here at our house. That was really what I had hoped to do anyway, but I certainly hope my spaghetti doesn't put her back in the hospital! She said she felt fine about eating it, that she had eaten Ragu spaghetti sauce at home. She is really trying to cut out fast food and fried foods, and it seems to be making a big difference in how she feels.
-- I also told her if she was waiting on me (which she is) to go with her to get a phone, to just call me and I would meet her whenever she wants to go to Wmart. She wants to just get a simple phone, maybe Smart Talk? Whatever her neighbors use. They have much better service than she does. And she needs to go by V*rizon and cancel old service, I think.
-- She said she was also going to need to get me to start writing her checks for her. Most of her bills are auto-pay anyway, but she has a few that have to be done by her each month. Her tremor is just such that she doesn't like to try to write things like this anymore. I used to do this for my grandmother also, but my grandmother wanted me to take the bills and personally pay them. Dmom said I would not have to do that for her! Surely I can find time to do this every other week or so -- or she will bring them to me, for that matter. But if I took one of the grands with me to do this, it would provide some variety to my time with them, and dmom would LOVE it.
DH and I went out to eat tonight and we just got back a little while ago. I plan to do a couple loads of laundry.
Teacher group meets tomorrow.
Waving to ALL of you!!!

Re: Macro Monday
LadyM, well that is interesting about your bones. I didn't want to take the medicine they always recommend because it's just the old bone cells that are saved with that, not new strong cells. False results on tests. Fill our bones up with remaining old stuff with no new strong cells, and what use is that? Plus they can mess up dental stuff in our jaws. My DFriend had better and better tests with her med and then her spine up in her neck started deteriorating. Specialist Dr. had to fuse her neck back together so she didn't become handicapped. He said her bones were spongey. Mine told me I could try Calcium and strontium. I also take K2 with the D3 and calcium because the K2 puts the calcium into our bones instead of becoming a hardening problem in our veins. I take my calcium in the morning and the strontium in the evening, they don't play well together. Last bone density my hips were stable and the other place was better. So I continue with this and hope it will help. My Dr. didn't even tell me about the K2, I heard that from somewhere else online and looked it up. Drs. don't always get nutritional stuff right. They only understand medicine. I hope what we're doing works for both of us.
RRose, yeah, take an oar. We're both in the same boat. Here it's his frustration and unwillingness to listen that's hard to live with. He runs away. sigh....
I had several checks written out and voided while I was figuring this out. I discovered he had given the company our credit card and the first charge was paid months ago with my card statement. So that never did generate a statement or an invoice. Lucky I have that business bank account now online so I could print out a copy of the check where I paid the next invoice. That was the one they didn't credit to our account. But it's plainly been deposited into their bank. Tomorrow all that will go in the mail with the last check, and it gets sent all the way to Wisconsin. They better get it straightened out on their end.
Did get dinner made and we ate after 7:00. I'm no longer hangry. My inner cat never showed up today. I think I was too keyed up.
Harriet, I didn't know mason jars could be frozen. But if they're the same glass as the freezer/oven safe glass, they should be ok. Like Anchor H ocking. Bet that made a mess!

Re: Macro Monday
This is the second time I've heard about K2 in a week. I need to look into this and the supplements I take to see if I'm already covered.Harmony wrote:I also take K2 with the D3 and calcium because the K2 puts the calcium into our bones instead of becoming a hardening problem in our veins.
Finished all the vacuuming and dusted everywhere except the office.
Total laundry loads = 3.
Emptied out the deep freeze and updated the inventory. I needed to get that done so I would know what I had in there for meal planning in March.
Also did a couple of easy 'vacuum under' zone chores.
Dh will pick up dgs in the morning for me so that buys a few more minutes. Still I need to hit bed NOW.

Re: Macro Monday
Well, Kathryn, I shouldn't be giving medical advice. It's just what I'm doing. The Doctor online who was talking about all this showed the bottles what he is taking... with the caveat that we all need to check with our own doctors and he wasn't telling US what to do. But he really was and that's when I began taking the K2 and I learned which form of D (3) to take. My own Dr. didn't tell me any of this. Only about the calcium and strontium. She also didn't tell me to separate them because the strontium blocks the calcium if we take it too closely together. Our health is really just up to us, isn't it.
