Oh, LadyM, those are such hard days and I'm sure ((your brother and sis-in-law)) were exhausted and concerned. My father went through that several times. The vet (whom I met later in his old age, regarding a puppy, and who told me again) would ask, when called from our farm, whether my father was going to be there for a difficult birth or he just wouldn't come to help my uncles. I know that sounds awful for a vet to give up like that unless conditions were right, but he had to drive so far, and if there wasn't a chance of success he wasn't leaving all his other patients. It takes team work and smarts and extra help to calm things down for the cow - strength just isn't enough.

I seem to have gotten through the frantic day of antsy-ness that accompanies steroids. The itching was gone after about 24 to 36 hours. The wide-eyed, wide-awake, beat-of-a-different-drummer time was another 24, I guess. As of that night, I was nagging to go out to McDs at 10:00 p.m. just to have something different to do, so I was definitely not myself. HRH talked me out of it. Yesterday was more like me.

I know that it has affected me because I dreamed that blessed was married to John Denver, who was alive and well, and they invited us all over to their house.

Went over to dd43's today to see the new porch treatment she has done. She has decided on graceful vertical ironwork balusters with tech-wood railings, and it should last a long time. My gingerbread, however beloved, was starting to deteriorate after nearly a quarter-century. Frankly, it was prettier against the brick, but what she's chosen is extremely strong and makes a very welcoming porch space.

Dd43 and I went out to the library :) and I found 3 books on quiltmaking, one of which turns out to have true pattern value to me and one other that is pleasant reading. Also a book on the Instant Pot. Found an odd new-release book about drawing for dd24, although I'm not sure she will benefit. Dd43 discovered that they were having a book sale and found two for DangerBoy and one for her bereaved dbil. It rained on us, but thanks to my scatterbrained dd24, there were two jackets in the back seat of my car!

LadyM… no fun being chased by a mad cow unless it’s a big black Angus bull!!! Asks me how I know :D

I hate those nasty stickers, but better them than a mad cow! Life on a farm or ranch is always filled with adventures. My aunt once sent me out to the pasture to check on a cow to see if she had given birth yet. That’s when the huge bull saw me and charged. Somehow I managed to jump the barbwire fence with out getting hung on it.

That bull hated me from the time it was born and even as a baby would charge me. My uncle wouldn’t believe me till I told him about the cow thing. His answer was to put me out in the field again and when the bull charged my uncle wacked him with a 2x4 and knocked the bull down.

My uncle said it was unsafe to have a bull like that around and needed to teach it a lesson. The bull never bothered me again.

Oops... The show name is Lone Star Law. Dh likes shows like that, or car restoration shows.

Supper was so good that dh ate a lot of white meat, which he doesn't normally eat.

Hope Lucylee is okay. Just heard there was a tornado in Georgia somewhere. Plus Alabama, Mississippi and Tennesee.

I luv the cow stories.
After the decluttering I am feeling more peaceful.
Plus I picked up the back yard after the ddog.
I need a different like for weeds spray bottle gave the one to dson.
I would like to start fresh with what I know to be non toxic anyway, h had used it at work with various stuff in it.
Got more jars out of the pantry out to the shed these will be keepers for now anyway.
-----
I did the dishes up and got the ones I had done earlier put away.
I rested but did not nap.
I knitted up a few rows instead.

Starting to feel better so that helps.

Trying to catch up. Congratulations to Twins', no surprise there we already knew you were a shoo-in.

Yes, Ramblin', that is wonderful that he still does that daily.

Dee, I hope you got better sleep after that 1.5 hours one night.

Harmony
, that's interesting whether we feel better if we get the chance to talk about something. I think it does get us started toward feeling better, yes, but it definitely may take more than that.

I was able to be online for all of the prayer meeting last night. Especially meaningful. Pastor spoke so well at one point.

Bright moment - Over HRH's fb feed he learned a "Mrs. A" who taught elementary school 30 years had died and it gave the obit. I'm not perfect with memory, after decades of schoolteachers' names to remember for kids who were born over an 18-year span, and this was a common name. BUT it did ring a bell so I sent texts to my 3. Dd43 immediately texted back asking for the link, which HRH sent. Sure enough, her 3rd grade teacher.

Not so bright moment - Turns out I went back to the library shelf to get dd23 the book and picked up the wrong one. Sigh. So sometimes you feel like a nut.

I have 4 appts in the coming week with only Tuesday off. eeeeyuck. But calm next week after that.

I have literally spent hours fixing dh's meds, etc. I usually only put up 1 week at a time, but since he "MIGHT" be up there without me for a bit I did the entire 4 weeks. Some of the week's compartments still had meds in from earlier on so had to decipher which pills they were. Doesn't usually take me so much time -there was just so much to figure out and notes to jot down for questions/notes to different doctors. He has an appointment with the cardiologist here Wednesday afternoon and his cardiologist up home next Wednesday morning. Have a bunch of questions for this week. So many meds have changed and I want to be sure we're on the right track.

I only got about 3 3/4 hours of sleep last night so was exhausted today. We went to church this morning and it went long. DD wanted to get her free scoop of ice cream for her birthday at C ulver's so we got one too. She also got lunch for her and dsonil. Glad we didn't as the ice cream filled us up. Came home and we both napped. Me for over 3 hours.

Right now I have a LOL in the dryer and am sort of waiting for that to finish so I can go to bed. Dh already has.

Tomorrow I have to hit the ground running and try to get as much packed/done for dh as possible. I know Wednesday will be a lost day with appointments. DS-A, DDIL, DGS10 and DSGD11 will be coming in later Wednesday afternoon. They're supposed to take their motor home to camp for a couple of days at Margaritiville here nearby. Then I think they're heading to Myrtle Beach for a few days. I'm hoping for their sake that the motor home is back from being detailed by then. I'm hoping to send some of our stuff up with them but we'll see. There's a few things I'll definitely need to send -like all of dh's extra meds.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

I saw cows today. And calves.

And tiny lambs, kids, and piglets.

Dh was really bored so we went to the farm to walk in the afternoon. It was crazy windy so we went into the museum part so we could walk in the shelter of the barns instead of the wind swept fields. And we walked through two of the barns to see the babies.

He had a much better day. He doesn't recall being overwhelmed by shortness of breath. He napped for a bit but was woken by a phone notification. I slept for well over an hour.

I also picked up milk at the store on the way home. Tried to get the numbing cream for dgs and discovered the Rexall in our neighbourhood is now closed on Sundays. That's new, they often have Friday to Sunday only sales and so I know they're normally open Sundays.

I suspect we'll be heading back to what retail was like when I was younger. Limited or no Sunday shopping and early store closing (6ish) except on Thursdays and Fridays. Later opening time in the mornings as well. That way you only have to have 1 shift of staff, not 2. Restaurants here are also closing earlier, sometimes by 8.

We used to have a couple of 24 hour grocery stores in the city but that stopped before the pandemic. And the 3 24-hour pharmacies are now only 1. For a city of 1.1M people. And a distance of 40+ miles from one end to the other.

Dee: I really should be getting to know dh's meds. I feel like I have lots of questions, like why his heart rate is 110-120 when just sitting, especially since he's on a beta blocker. He won't put on my watch so I can't get its reading (or his O2), that number comes from the blood pressure machine. Yesterday he told me he's supposed to cut back on salt on the diuretic. I get that I was sick and in isolation, but he might have shared that with me. Knowing that meant I certainly didn't pick up several of the things I was going to get for him at the store today. I did talk him into dropping one of his two V8s each day. That saves 680mg of sodium AND opens up another 12 oz of liquid for him to have, perhaps as water, or at least, a second glass of milk.

Cathy, thanks for asking— we’re okay, just rain here.

we just took the dgrands home. We’ve had a good weekend, but apparently Dgd has some kind of little bug… fever and cough. Ddil said she checked them both for Covid and they are negative. Ds will be home sometime tomorrow.

Y’all, I am having one of my silly panic attacks…
I wanted so badly for our church to offer confirmation class.
Well, there are 4 girls and dgs, all 5th graders.
Now the pastor wants to take them on an overnight trip to our church association camp, about an hour or two away. On a Friday night. And she wants parent or grandparent chaperones.
And of course it will be difficult to find a time when ds/ddil can go on a weekend… and I freak out at the thought of travel like this. Besides, dh just told me, “Well you can’t go. I need you too much here.”

Pastor told me about this in front of dgs, and he is all excited about it now.

But if ds or ddil can’t go, then I don’t want dgs to be disappointed and miss out, and how are they going to manage a chaperone for one boy? I know I’m kinda a basket case, but it’s just seeming like an awkward situation all around, and I watch too much Law and Order SVU, but I’m paranoid about situations like this.

Dh of course feels too bad to talk about it and it will likely be at least the end of May before it comes up.
Sigh. I wish I had a different brain.
Tomorrow is another day.

Lucylee:

You wrote:

That does not say that each child requires a parent chaperone. Only that they need parent chaperones.

This is not your worry. Ds/ddil will decide if dgs can go if they can't go too. And dgs will decide if he's ready to go if no parent or you are acting as his chaperone and he'll have to listen to other kids' parents.

Dee Thanks for setting a good example. I finally went over all of dh's drugs (I had to pull some of the product sheets out of the recycle bin....) and noted that one drug is prescribed for 60 days (pill not to be cut or crushed) but he was only given 30 pills and zero refills. So that's flagged as a question for at an appointment.

Now I know all that he's on. There's a special book they are given that is supposed to be the bible and contain all the important information. You are to circle what you are on, but it doesn't have all of dh's drugs listed in order to circle them so I've hand written in the missing ones (including the one that was 'shorted' in the prescription.)

So the special book is up-to-date for now. It is to come to every appointment so notes can be made and answers are handy. But I haven't been 'together' enough until now to make sure the book was complete.

I found his discharge check list with all the confirmation he was told stuff, etc. It is completely blank - nothing is checked off and he said he didn't have to sign anything saying he had things explained to him (which is what this sheet is).

Honestly, my definition of the 'best in Canada' is obviously different than other people's. Maybe my standards are too high but given we've had 2 meds mess-ups already, and a host of complications, and no communication from them, I really feel it isn't me, it is them.

And I can trust that there are no perverts in our chaperone group? (Honestly, there is only one person in the entire congregation that I might be suspicious of and this person is not a parent of this age and ddil is the me who made me suspicious.) This is just an unfounded fear of mine, that someone would hurt one of my dgrands and they would be afraid to tell.
Tomorrow is another day.
