Well-managed Wednesday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

What does a well-managed day look like to you?

For me, perhaps a list in the morning, some exercise, fresh air and fun/free activities somewhere, prepared for contingencies along the way, and an evening that lends itself to sleeping well.

I hope your day is well managed and well behaved today!

I try to keep my expectations low and hopes high. A well-managed day for me is one that handles all the incoming without a disaster. Bonus if I can do a little planning and prep for the next day.

I am current on my hourly tasks which feels wonderful. I have set the bar high, and I enjoy the hourly challenges. However, I don't expect to ever have an entire day filled with perfect hours.

DD11 most common expression is a smile now. She smiles and is happy almost all the time. I'm watching her innermost change and become lighthearted. Her confidence level is still low but growing. The transformation is slow but happening.

Homeschool is underway with DS14.

DH has left for his quarterly diabetic appt with family doctor.

I had a decent day yesterday despite being so unfocused through the morning. After I got back home yesterday late afternoon I mostly read until bedtime, and slept well. I spent awhile outside as the sun was almost setting with ddog while she played with B oston from next door, the French bulldog boy. He's been through this a.m. already - door was open while dMillie went out and he came through and took a toy, which I retrieved. He wanted her to chase him.

Left this sitting while walking the dog and it's a couple of hours later? Walked the dog, and did a few laps with dfriend M and her R uby. Gave us a chance to catch up and now I have 6K steps already.

Need to finish a.m. routine and go to Lowes....

LadyM, so glad you're seeing a transformation in dd!

Morning..

Back from class. I am sore from yesterdays but in a good way.

Spent an hour on the phone talking to my former husband… my sons dad. He wanted my intake on how I thought our son was doing. He was worried about how tired our son sounded over the phone. It is not uncommon for us to call each other. My son talks to his dad about his career and to me about his life matters, so occasionally we talk to compare notes. We get along much better since we got divorced and I really like his wife.

Now I need to check on my sunnies and finish up my morning routines because I’m behind. BBL

Good morning to Twins, Lady M, Rose & all who stop by later.

It feels good to feel healthy again. Dh & I ran several catch up errands Monday & Tuesday, plus a trip to an appliance store. The temperature in my gas oven has not been working right for a few weeks. I've been experimenting, figuring if it only heats to 325* when set for 350* I could just raise the preheat temp by 25*. Nope. It often runs much higher. Research shows it is probably a broken thermostat but we decided rather than put money into repairing the current 15+ year old one we would replace it. What a surprise to find that almost all the models being sold now have heavy cast iron double grates over the burners. I couldn't lift them with one hand so it would be a real pain to deal with them to clean drips & spills. I'm on the lookout for one with 4 grates, plus a broiler on the inside of the oven at the top. Many now have broilers at the very bottom in what used to be storage drawers. Will search around online for one similar to my old one. I can still use the oven but have to check the temp frequently & adjust it when necessary so nothing burns.

((Blessed)), I'm so sorry that test results were not good for your dh. Hoping that consult with surgeon brings hope & better news.

Harriet, glad for your dd24 that vet was able to help Felix the ferret. Someone mentioned a memory about a ferret playing by running through dryer vents laid on the floor & that picture in my head made me

Hi to Sunny! :)

Dee, so good to read you are safely back home & with dh. How wonderful of your dd to make the drive with you.

Next up is to put away some pantry staples from trip to W mart, then make up another big batch of picnic eggs. They are a favorite of dh & I like the convenience of grabbing a half if I'm hungry between meals. Bought a big package of chicken breasts at S am 's & will cook them all tonight. We'll have some for our dinner with a few sides, then slice & freeze the rest. I use them often in chicken salads for lunch, & dh has requested chicken enchiladas for dinner soon. I've noticed that S am 's keeps dropping items that we used to buy. I don't think it's a supply chain issue, but instead maybe that they are no longer stocking things that don't sell well or that they don't want to pay high prices for. Last two trips they had no mixed veggies or individual bags of broccoli florets (except frozen for both). They used to sell a delicious pot roast & gravy but haven't seen that for close to two years. The book section has been steadily shrinking, & I was sad to see that the magazine section has now disappeared completely.

For me a well-managed day is when I start my day on time & get a main chore out of the way early. Having the house picked up the night before also goes a long way toward me having a productive day.

DH had a good report from the family doctor. DH is still losing weight and is approaching what he weighed when we got married 50 years ago! DH blood pressure was the lowest we can ever remember it being. The doctor had nurse draw some blood to do a new type of heart test. I'm curious about that but DH didn't ask any questions. The doctor asked DH if he still sticks his finger every day to monitor BSugar and DH confirmed that he did. The doctor wants DH to switch from finger sticks to using CGM (continuous glucose monitoring systems) patch on his arm, so that is in process of happening.

I'm still staying current on completing hourly tasks. This is a way that I can easily monitor my mental/emotional/physical status. It tells me that I'm thinking clearly and have good energy.

Thought I posted yesterday but evidently did not. I'm slowly getting settled. Did dishes last night, put them away this morning. Made us oatmeal for breakfast but when I started looking for a container to put the extra in, found we'd been visited by those little creatures this winter. Dh never sees the signs but oh boy I do! So I've been washing all our storage containers. I'm absolutely doing something different this fall. I don't dare use anything I don't wash first. Want to eliminate that need somehow. I see a bunch of bins in my future.

I'm still somewhat tired and stroking it a bit. I did get a lot of sleep Mon/Tues nights, but evidently still not enough. I do know that one way or another both dh and I will be flying to FL this winter. He would so like to be up here for the winter but that's just not going to happen. There's nowhere we could stay for one thing and I know I could not take the winter.

Have to call Dh's Dr in the morning and give him an update on dh's status -swelling/confusion/etc. Dr will be out of the office Friday so he wants to know if this new regimen of extra lasix has helped any.

Going to go wash the oatmeal pan (have had it soaking) and get on with the morning.

I slept in today till 7 rare for me but it was good sleep.
Sinuses are active. It was frosty outside so I am focused on inside stuff.
Managed well today despite sleeping in...
I have laundry going, took more pizza to the basement freezer.
Laundry is going, clean sheets are on the bed.
Got dressed at a reasonable time.

One load of laundry is folded.
Oatmeal Rolls are done.
Doing a few cookies now in the oven baking. Yummy!
Got the rest of the the one bed cleaned out after lunch with sunshine was quite nice!

Dh used a 'new' slicer he bought last year. Cut off the tip of his finger yesterday. When I washed it I decided firmly that it's going. I couldn't even clean it without putting my own fingers in jeopardy.
Dh said he'd look for a different one. I'm not sure there is one that will slice and be easily washed.

DS-A is here. BBL

I'm not managing my day well to be honest. I got a late start but got out to post office (where it took too long) and then Lowes where it also took too long. I couldn't make up my mind about any other plants except for the tomato I wanted. I did walk all over Lowes to find picture hangars. We always misplace and lose them when we take pictures down and it's easier to buy some and not have us looking for them. I'd like to get the rest of these back up, I think dh has forgotten. Once something stays one way more than a day or two he doesn't remember what needs to be done. (Hence: plunger in powder room, extension cord on screened porch and a lot of pictures here that came down to paint.)

Need to figure out where to start next.
