Good morning to all, and thank you, bw2, for the upbeat opening!

We're going to the river today and I'm trying to hold dh off for awhile so I can have some more time at home today. And I get twitchy toward evening wanting to get home to let the dog out and keep her company. We're supposed to have rain tomorrow.

We'll be heading to Hilton Head a week from tomorrow for two weeks. I need to start my lists of "Remember to take" and "Do before we go."

I picked up the back yard after ddog after we walked.
Pruned dead branches away from pink tulips I'd forgotten about so I could get the vid. of them and some others with cream colored centers.
On our walk asked a neighbor that had a rocking chair in the back of their truck with tree branches if they were getting rid of it said yea & I could have it so I got my truck and it is home and cleaned up. My rescued project is drying. Don't get granny a truck she will haul stuff home! LOL! I did not go to the estate sale ... yet... LOL! Painting stuff is my happy place and cheaper than therapy just sayin'!

Got a book at the estate sale it was on dson's street got to wave at him as he left for work. Glad I went got a gardening in the west book
by sunset not glossy pages however oh well.

I have pruned on the small dead tree out front, took a break then picked up the branches got my steps in.
There is more to do ... later on in the week.

Had an absolutely full bin of canned goods that we put down in Boulder Hall last fall (so they wouldn't freeze). I just finally took them all out. Emptied the cupboards underneath the hutch. There are 4 cupboard doors there. Took any of the food stuff we've put in 1 of the upper cupboards out of there. I have dishes in the right hand cupboard and don't ever seem to have mice in any of those. The empty cupboard on the left I will put as many of our storage dishes as possible. When I took the stack out of the lower cupboard Yep I found a couple turds! So I will re-wash all those before putting them away. I've taken an inventory of everything we have going in the food cupboards. I figure if I see any further signs it'll be a lot easier rinsing off cans. I have traps sprinkled here 'n there but I haven't seen any other signs since we put those out. Hoping they've left for the field which is behind the berm behind us. Have to figure better retardants for next year. At any rate I've been busy and taking a break now.

my computer is running slow - it's okay - I would have been here sooner if I wasn't so impatient

d dee I know you understood about appreciating the little moments

we had pouring rain. I had some of the parterre's boxwoods delivered. I bought 15 - on Friday there is supposed to be a 20% sale on your whole order. I am hoping the rest of the bushes/hydrangeas etc. will still be there so that I can buy the rest!

I am also looking for an espalier apple tree.

it just stopped raining so I am going to go in the muck and weed. I am sure I will be beautiful after I finish!

this next Tuesday will be meeting the heart surgeon. He said he will not do the surgery. We shall see what his options are.
He was able to eat some thick soup (blended) for the first time since Jan. 1rst, 2023.
no coughing or inhaling into his lungs. knock on wood as he is going on his second bowl.

Feeling kind of limbo-y today. DH is out helping with the Camporee. The troop decided not to go, but he is there helping with some events. I was hoping to get DC to make a dent in their stuff on the dining table after they’d had their lunch, but they took their dishes to the kitchen and vanished. I will have to tell DD to let me know when she’s at a stopping point in whatever it is she’s doing and get her to deal with her stuff on the table.

Once I’ve done that, I’ll get a load of wash started, then I’ll fetch DC down from their room.They are going to Playhouse Square with the Theater Club this evening, so I need to get them to the community college, where they will carpool to the theater. I’m not sure about pickup. They will likely ask to be picked up downtown — they have friends living in the building across the street from the theater. It’s about the same going either downtown or to the college — just under 20 minutes either way — but I’m much less comfortable driving downtown. Then again, DH should be home by then.

Oh, shoot! I just noticed the time! If I want any work at all out of DC, I need to fetch them downstairs sooner rather than later.

Glad to hear your DH is taking soup, blessed! It’s the little things.

Home from a very enjoyable 3 hours exploring, walking trails around rush lake and then eating lunch with DH.

We stopped on the way home and picked up a couple of chicken strip dinners for the kids. While there I chatted with a lifelong acquaintance about DS14 wanting to learn welding and asked for his suggestions and recommendations. I reminded him that DS14 is homeschooled (and why) which makes him ineligible to learn welding in FFA/public school. This person retired as FFA instructor in the public schools and has had a welding shop for decades. He said to bring DS14 to him and he will teach him. He suggested setting up a schedule for 1 or 2 days a week. This is a better environment and opportunity for DS14 than I could dream. It makes me tear up to watch the opportunities developing & how things are working out for DS14. He has many mentors that are guiding him.

The day is almost done. In theory I'm supposed to write newsletter now. We'll see.

I'm exhausted but had an excellent day with the grandsons. After lunch, dgs2 napped and so did I after a 20 minute reset and rushing dh through his breakfast. I woke on my own and had another 20 minutes before dh came back with dgs6. He and I visited for about 20 minutes and then dgs2 woke up and we didn't hear him right away so he was pretty upset when I finally got in to him.

He wasn't happy that dgs6 was here, obviously jealous about sharing me with him but as the day went all he warmed up and gave him a lovely hug in the kitchen while dh and I were getting dinner ready (so neither of us got a picture.)

Both boys ate fairly well (dgs6 doesn't eat much most of the time) and we had a reasonable evening except he went back home late because dh called his sister to wish her a happy birthday. Dgs2 was down for the night before they left (there was supposed to be 30 minutes in between) and then I spent 20 minutes resetting the apartment for tomorrow morning.

Dh just got back so maybe there will be bed soon. I've already taken my bedtime vitamins!

Not too many actual STEPS today, but lots of miles!
Up at 7:30… s2s… get Dgd dressed… breakfast at Hardee’s
10:00 dgs ballgame, 15 miles away approximately…
11:30 Next Town, checked on computer, but contrary to hours on answering machine, they were not open.
On to Big City where dgs had piano recital and we had time to nap a bit in the car. Dgd played in the grassy area in front of the church.
2:45 recital — ds, ddil, dgs, other grandparents and their visiting relatives met us there, took both dgrands home with them at
3:30 when recital was over.
Dh and I ate before coming home
7:00 dgs arrived to spend the night.

Dh and I are exhausted. Dgs is still going strong!

Computer should be ready by end of next week, I think. Guy finally called, said he had to order one part we need.

I’ll get back to the preacher story after we see how tomorrow goes.

My granddaughter just finished welding trade school in Dec.
Now is learning to be a millwright at her job.

I need to sand on the table on the deck, and the chair in the carport but is was hot too fast for that.
I braided my hair when it was damp so it will have a bit of wave to it for Sun. Luv having a plan!

Turned on the a/c for a bit to cool it down it was okay till after dinner.
It will be good to have it cool to sleep.
I could go to the basement.

I put water in a bucket for the birds, realize I need to move the container that is in the sun in the afternoon.
Filled the birds bath in the front yard.
