Friday Finds Us

Post by Harriet »

What does Friday find you doing?

Friday finds us finishing up the week, perhaps, or getting the house in order for potential weekend guests or events.

What does Friday find you thinking?

Is there a feeling of official summer break as students get out of school, or are sunbeams insisting on cheerfulness?
Are you having a thoughtful change in plans because of haze/air quality or other surprise? What are you pondering these days?

LadyM shares in J and C that Friday finds our dear Dee feeling better.

My heart is relieved after texting with Dee's DD.

Our dental visits yesterday brought good news and no-so-good news. Once again both kids had perfect dental reports. Neither one has ever had a cavity! However, DH and I are not so blessed. DH has a cavity and I have an abscessed tooth that is dying. I am now on antibodies to clear up the abscess and then will see if the tooth can be saved by having a root canal.

My morning has been super social. DS14 has called 3 times since he left for work an hour ago. DD12 has called with a request. DH has found me to chat 3 times. DDIL has called to chat which was a 64 minute phone call. I have texted with 4 people. And it is only 9:30am!

I need to get a plan for the day.

Just got back from my coffee gathering. Didn’t go to class cause I didn’t sleep well last night.

The materials I ordered for my pantry shelves have arrived so after I finish my lunch I’ll start on it. That should take me a good part of my afternoon.

LadyM… thanks for the update on Dee.

RRose, what are you putting on your pantry shelves? Did I read that they are wire shelves? I have wire shelves in my closets and while they are not a problem, I'm not fond of them. My pantry cupboard thankfully does not have wire shelves.

Yes, do read J&C today, there is better news for our DDee.

I have been working on my mileage book because towards the end of this month I will get a check for our business mileage for our personal car. We have not had so much and last year I only did one at the end of the year. This year DH has been back and forth in it a lot and that job is in the next town, so there is quite a bit of expense. I don't keep the mileage book in the car because the sunlight fades the ink and it becomes unreadable. I have lists of all the places we go in the back of it so I just look the miles up. Odd or different places I always looked it up on Mapquest or on Rand McNally and those are inoperable now that google earth took over all that...and I can no longer get mileage off the computer. So it is way harder now. DH doesn't remember to write down the mileage for me. Like today I asked him about where that recycling place was he went to and he couldn't remember how he got there. sigh.... I did get something off waze recently which still appears to work so maybe I'll try that.

Anyway, taking it a bit easy today. Slept in a bit this morning. Wore myself out yesterday.

I am trying to slow myself down and rest as much as possible. I now have confirmation that my body has an infection (abscessed tooth) that it is dealing with. I knew I felt different the past couple of weeks, and I started sleeping more (about an hour a night more). I didn't have my normal energy and didn't want to do things. I assumed I was in the beginning stages of depression. Now I suspect these changes were all coming from the infection. Hopefully with some rest and a couple days of antibodies I will be back to my normal energy level.

DD12 leaves for camp on Sunday and will be gone for 6 days so this coming week is perfect timing for me to do less and give my body time to recover.

I have printed off the camp packing list and our focus for today is to get DD12 things collected. That will give us tomorrow to shop for anything that she still needs.

The fence contractor finished that project today so their noise and activity are gone.

I have had a very busy day and I just got home from being out for a good chunk of the day. Accountant's office first, where I dropped off 15 months worth of info for the business and all of the 2022 personal income tax info.
My desk looks very clear right now.

For a reward, I took myself out for lunch at the large mall near the office. Then I got a green light when I left the parking lot, so I went to Staples and got a package of label tape for my Brother PTouch. Got out of there very quickly and got on the highway to get to dh's cardiologist appointment. I walked in and sat beside him just as the Doctor opened his door and called dh in. After we left there I went straight to knitting. I got there almost 45 minutes after the start of the Friday afternoon group. Now I am finally home in time for dh to ask to go for a cheeseburger at a Canadian burger chain (Harvey's)

So happy to hear good news about Dee.

It rained here last night and on and off for a good part of the morning. Enough to keep my wipers on a constant wipe for a good part of my 30 minute drive home from Hamilton.

I didn't get to go to the graduation. There are only so many seats, and they are on bleachers, which I don't handle well even with great eyesight. That's okay, I'll hear all about it, and I understand that the news our graduate really wants to talk about is his ballgame last night, lol. I think he did get awards, though.

Did some Desk Day but did not get to go to mailbox. My dcousin came and worked on the driveway and I'm leaving that alone right now. Dd checked on it and says it's just as messy as you would think, right after the work. Hopefully, it will settle soon. I'll need to go out tomorrow for bday party.

Tomorrow's birthday-grandboy has chosen Firehouse Subs catering platters for his bday meal. We've never done that before, so it's interesting. He had this when he was out with his Mom on errands recently and was impressed. I sure hope that translates to their platters. He wanted both cake and cupcakes, so that house has had the oven going for sure.

Air quality situation has been obvious to me - eyes irritated. They say tomorrow it will be over.

Okay, so the call came, lol. :D Our green-eyed boy received the "Most Athletic" medal, the "Star Performer" medal (for "character, kindness, preparedness") and A-B honor roll certificate, but he and his dad can't remember the others! Yet, he was told he got the second highest number of recognitions in his class.... .. what? Ds is soooo laid-back - imagine not writing this down for the grandparents! Sigh. I'm sure ddil will get the straight scoop on this Monday. Or may have already heard by text. She's the one who's more involved at the school most of the time.

Next year, then, I'll have a grandchild in the elementary school and a grandchild in the middle school. I can't help but think there may need to be more help with certain pickups or being on-call.
