How are you dealing with the heat?
We have climbing temps. today what are your tips?
I have water in the fridge for the crew and got sodas.
Walked the dog at sunrise it was lovely and not so bad.
Did not sleep the best up at four.
Planning done.

1st round...
I have pruned off the climbing rose pitched the branches, dug out the rose.
Got some more stuff from the shed tossed.
Found a couple of 4' dowels think closet rod to go for a project that I never did.
The crew can find a use for it I am sure.
More coffee not the best idea now I'm sweaty.

Pruned a couple branches what I could reach it is getting better.
Workers are hear just after 7 and got going to try to beat the heat.
I watered in front and the side yard that I forgot last night.

To beat the heat one was not open yet so it will wait
Got my lab for A1c done
and store forgot paper plates yesterday and at a diff store found a couple other items I wanted or forgot.
We just have to let others make their own health choices.

We found out last night that the neighbours have a crew coming today to take down the hedge-from-he__. (Put a ck, or double l's, your choice) It's 9 a.m. and they aren't here yet. (See bottom line re: patience...)

Therefore, we need to move the car (done) and the scrap trailer. There is also an extension ladder to be taken down off the fence and a metal staircase to be moved, like what you might see in a big box store. I moved the staircase, thankfully it's on wheels. Plus there is some wood laying on the ground that we will have to move. Part of the fence is the leftover metal from our roof. Previous owner used it as part of fence. We need to unscrew it and move it.

We also have company #2 coming to look at the water heater. I realize it takes time to get a quote together and things need to be arranged for jobs like this. Company #2 asked if we had turned it off and then turned it on again. (In my head, I laughed at this!) Dh checked the breaker as soon as he determined for himself that there was no hot water coming out of the taps. On the other hand, he told both companies it was a gas powered heater. Turns out that there is a white electrical cord leading from the top and up into the ceiling.

I need to see the bright side of everything today. Dh is already fussing that we need to book a hotel room tonight so he can have a shower even though he has no desire to actually spend the night sleeping there.

I also need more patience. No clue what is for supper.

As soon as I hit "submit", the crew for the hedge showed up. The chain saws are going now, and will be for a few hours I think.

Good morning!

We have two more triple digit heat days to get through and then the temps drop into the mid 90's. I don't worry about heat stroke when temps are in the 90's. DH is becoming more aware of heat danger and limits working outdoors when temps are high. Yesterday morning he cut down several small trees, loaded them onto a trailer and hauled them to the gully. Then he quit working outside because of the heat.

Cathy - do you have truck stop nearby? They usually have big, nice showers to rent for $10-15.

I have been to the garden three times this morning. I walked, watered, and harvested tomatoes, peppers, and strawberries. I stay in the garden until I start sweating then I came inside and cool down.

I'm doing a repeat of yesterday's meals with some variation. They tasted soooo good that I wanted more. I have a couple dozen chicken tenderloins defrosted that I will be cooking in a cast iron skillet. I like to have leftovers of this dish because they are so versatile to have ready to eat. I am also cooking a pan of ground beef, chopped onions/peppers/tomatoes from the garden. Mashed potatoes and green salad will be side dishes.

Toasty Thursday is quite appropriate, Nancy! We'll be up to 93 degrees today, with warmer weather coming. I've walked the dog two laps already, continuing the loose leash and collar experiment.

I have my workout this afternoon and the day is otherwise quiet. Dh suggested asking friends A and V if they want to eat out tonight but I'd rather grill chicken and eat lightly. I feel I always eat more than I need when we're out, and I'm trying to eat better and drink a little less wine.

I need to finish up kitchen counter clean up and clean the stovetop.

Cathy, here there's also the YMCA. You can get a day pass inexpensively and get a shower there.

I am sorry I haven't been here - but I THINK OF YOU ALL!!!

what's going on with us:

You will never believe it - I broke my right ankle again! I will know more tomorrow - I think it's going to be bad news but I can only move forward-lol not really without a wheel chair . I really don't want to give up on my garden.

This is not a Wah Wah Wah moment at all - just a moment in life. There is a lot of joy in me still! I do have my days but generally happy.

I and dd couldn't believe this happened again - I was in a hurry and I could see the dogs were running at high zoom speed. I got hit (again)! oh my gosh - I couldn't believe it.

I am in the garden bc I can get on the ground and weed and pull myself up on the bench in the back - It is a joy to keep working. I am frustrated that I can plant or dig right now. I can't drive - the only downfall. lol yes it was a down-fall literally.

Dh: dh is denying that he has a heart issue and needs stents. He keeps thinking he can put the trac and out anytime he wants. He wants the trac out but the heart dr. wants it in for the procedures. Dh is not doing the procedures "yet" as he says.

This is the hard one for me. I know everyone thinks I have influence over him but I don't - I have tried. the doctors have tried. My daughters have tried. I will know more after his swallow study today.

So that's where I am at. I am pretty happy as I have come to the conclusion that I can't control any of this. It's okay.

(((blessed))) you mean you got hit when dogs rushed past? That happened to my dd43 when she was pregnant - whoosh plop - so I can just "see" that happening! And it's the same ankle? ((((((((Giant but gentle hugs)))))))) Please let us know how you are doing. True that everyone is responsible for their own med decisions - you are not supposed to be demanding a certain response from dh, the response is his.

Twins', I bought this hummus, named like the flower lantana, because on the front (top?) it says, "sweetened with dates", and the ingredients list backs that up. However, now that you get me to go check ... .. I see further down near the end of ingredients that it has some brown sugar, too. I'd like to think there's not too much! The chocolate is called dark, unsweetened. It's definitely a dessert/treat, even with fresh fruit. I tried it with fresh mango strips and that's pretty good.

lucylee, no, I do not know any lyrics with those hard words, so I can see that is a tough game! Happy for both your family and my ds' family that the Braves won a game.

The All-Star tournament is finished here and out of 16 teams across the state, our green-eyed boy's finished fourth. So, nothing to make a headline, and no trophy, but it was a happy time. I told ds that this will have been a wonderful experience for dgs. He joined a team of strangers and learned to play with them, then "win some and lose some" against complete strangers. He witnessed everyone congratulating each other afterward, acting like genuine people, especially the grown-ups. That's real adult-practice.

I got a lot of weeding done in the evening cool yesterday, BUT started an extreme runny nose last night, so I don't know what I got myself into. Had to take half a clar itan to feel that I could lie down without coughing all night.

HRH sent dd's 4 boys a giftcard to gaming thingie with well-known name I can't remember (sigh) because they are going to have a sale. This a.m. response came from only one - dgs12 saying "It's me, C. Thank you." He is at once the sweetest and the most exasperating of the boys. Catches on to so much but knows how to push every brother's buttons, both the 2 older and the youngest. Interesting that he is headed for becoming far and away the tallest and biggest. There will be jockeying for position, I predict.

yes d harriet - it was a WOOSH and definitely a plop!!! . Glad your dd did not get hurt when she was pregnant!
this is my third ankle break - I am doing the right foot, left foot, right foot dance it seems.

Yay on weeding but sorry you were coughing - could it be the smoke from the fires up north? I know we have been hit here as well.
you can see the haze of the smoke rising and falling. It smells like a continual beach party fire.

time to be productive - I want to work outside but I know I have to do the inside. it's supposed to be hot. I really really would like to be outdoors - dogs won't go out in the yard without me! I want them to run and play.

I honestly don't feel like playing throw the fake duck or throwing the ball outside. I will later but right now I just want to work.

Poking my head in.

I've wasted most of the morning. I am happy to report it only took me 11 minutes to go from my alarm going off (reminding me to run an errand across the street) to being dressed and out the door. Laying out my clothes last night helped a lot with that.

The evening community bbq at the beach has been postponed due to the smoke forecast. I'm grateful. The forecast is for it to be really bad but when I look at the smoke map I don't understand why. Currently we are at the same or slightly better than Harriet's place. (And I just checked AQIcn.org which confirms she's currently worse off than me.) But the smoke isn't to get any worse and there are no extremely dark bands lined up to head our way. So I can't see it getting worse than now. It isn't that it isn't bad, its just in the unhealthy, not dangerous rating. Still, my job was the bubble station and that requires not wearing a mask!

I'm incredibly tired all the time, a function of no fresh air I'm sure.

So I've wasted today. I will jump up now and finish dusting and vacuuming the office as dh is in the shower right now.

Our a/c was broken again this morning but is back to working. Thankfully since, while it isn't anywhere as hot as you get it, we feel we can't open the windows to cool the apartment off overnight.

Cooking is finished for the day. DS14 is home for lunch. After going through many days of covid and me not cooking, the family has a new appreciation of home cooked meals. It is nice to be appreciated and complemented.

I will know more tomorrow
