My goals for today -
** Keep focus on habits being reestablished. Hourly movement, meal planning, health tracker spreadsheet
** Lunch with elderberries.
** Team up with DH to pull weeds. These are jungle size weeds along the back fence. They are part of what we ignored while sick and we are playing catchup. Now is the perfect time to pull them since we had another heavy rainstorm, and the ground is saturated.
** Cut up and preliminary sauté several pounds of bacon and hot links. I like to keep omelet ingredients frozen and ready to use.
** Chop and process to the freezer the many peppers from the garden.
** Mentor DS14 living room care
** Mentor DD12 GM
** Stop @ two grocery stores for pantry stocking items
** Place online Sam's order for pantry items to be delivered to our home
Twins - I gather tomatoes off the plants as soon as they start turning red. After a couple days on the kitchen counter, they finish ripening. It has been my experience that leaving colorful tomatoes on the vine gives an open invitation for bugs and birds to eat them.

Re: Tuesday TO DO PWYC
Coming back through after blood draw. It wasn't at their usual location, which is for sale. In August, hopefully, they are moving into a bigger building closer to us. The closed location is probably three minutes, the new one will be maybe 15 minutes.
The trip out took longer - as I was heading out of the office I had blood leaking down my arm so they put pressure on it and took me back and cleaned it up. My t-shirt needs to go into the washer too.
And I was going to go to the bank near the dr office but it's been closed down. So I'll get that this afternoon.
I need to leave here in 1.5 hours to workout and get on the road, so it's time to finish up.

Re: Tuesday TO DO PWYC
Well I seem to be bringing up the rear this morning.
I was reminded of a friend of mine who's husband has Alzheimer's when I read my HS Reunion FB page so I messaged her to see how her husband was doing. We ended up having a two hour conversation comparing notes and catching up about our HS friends. Her husband was an attorney and I knew him from our past. He unfortunately has the type of Alzheimer's that attacks the front of the brain. This usually causes very strange and sometimes violent behaviors in a person. Her husband threatened to harm her last week and she ended calling 911 for help. He was placed in the psych ward in her hospital and they are trying to control his behaviors with meds. However once that happens to a person, it is very hard to find a memory care unit that will accept them.
This happened to another friend of mine's father. They were able to get his behavior under control at the psych ward and my friend found a place to accept her dad. I wanted to give my HS friend some encouraging words to help her through this difficult period. This is the only fear I have with Sweetie. Her husband was very much like mine...kind, sweet and generous, so previous behaviors does not determine how the Alzheimer's will effect someone.
Many of her husbands behaviors are common from what I know from friends. He kept running out of her home naked...My grandmother did that in the middle of the night and wandered around her front yard in the snow. He would go to her front door and continuously open and close it for hours. My grandmother had a purse with a change purse and she would sit for hours opening and closing both. He cursed in most inappropriate ways...my grandmother call my mom names and used words that I cant even write her. At the psych ward her husband went around fondling other patients and threatening harm to them. This unfortunately is very common with this type of Alzheimer's.
I can deal with Sweetie forgetting my name, things like that, but I'm hoping Sweetie doesn't go through what my friend's husband is experiencing.
Today I need to make reservations to fly for my reunion which is in Sept...the height of hurricane season around here. Also need to make my hotel ones as well. Spoke to my brother yesterday and made arrangements to finally bury my mom's ashes while I am home. Right now she is sitting in the bottom of my brother's closet and the remainder of my dad's are on his top shelf.. We buried him in our family plot a while back, but not all of his ashes would fit in the container we chose. While home, my brother and I will release my father's ashes in the river close to my brother's home where my dad fished and hunted while we were growing up. I need to make arrangements with the cemetery so we can place mom in the family plot as well.
Meantime I have a few Amazon returns to drop off, pick up stamps from our new post office and make a quick stop at my grocery store.....

This is what my daunt and uncle are going through— his behavior being violent. She did call 911 this weekend but he left the house before police got there, which was her goal, actually. Then she went to my mom’s.

Re: Tuesday TO DO PWYC
I have been able to get out of the house for some fun shopping.
I got the caps for my lawn chair that is my fav. to use on the deck now I did not want it to gouge up the deck. Way cheaper than a new chair but I could use one in the front and it would be good to have one for each rig. I have another one but has no side table and is a bit low. I got the other one for lh but he rarely used it. I use it nearly daily except winter of course.
Got in on the 50% off plant sale and now I get to go play in the dirt.
Found two 50% off items at JoAnn's as well.
Forgot fabric however.
I have a plan for my lunch & dinner.

Re: Tuesday TO DO PWYC
RRose, very scary story. I certainly hope our path is not this one. DH has been complaining recently about how quickly and easily he forgets everything. But the whole time he's experiencing that there is so much he can still do so it is a real puzzle. His neighborhood friend he rides bikes with called to check on him. They usually ride their bikes together. It's a budding friendship and I'm happy for DH that he has someone besides me to interact with. A couple days ago he helped him pull a couple little trees out of the wrong spot by his house. DH can be quite social, way more so than me. He'd be happy if I had parties here every day!
Feels like a wasted day so far. I'm really trying to get all this outside work done around here. Last night I found the owners booklet for our edger and just set it out on our breakfast table where DH would see it. Sure enough, he was figuring out the gas/oil ratio when I got up and reading the booklet. We worked on this lovely piece of equipment for hours today. He went to the gas station. Then we tried to get it started. He went to the lawnmower shop to get a replacement part, the little rubber ball thing we push to prime it (was rotted) and installed that. Tried it again. Replaced the spark plug. Tried pouring some starter fluid beneath the spark plug. Still nothing. Took the carburetor apart, soaked it in cleaner, put it together and reinstalled. Nothing.
Last thing is he went off with the booklet and the edger back to the shop to buy a rebuild kit for the carburetor. Internet gurus say these carburetors don't last long. Said he was going to "pick the guy's brain" for info. I told him to look and see how much a new one was. So who knows at this point. I am disappointed we didn't make more progress. It's been one of those days.
I went over the latest paperwork received from Insurance Agent. I have more questions. Agent still hasn't called back.

Re: Tuesday TO DO PWYC
Tuesday To DO is more like Tuesday To DON'T around here.
I have SUCH a hard time getting my morning day started. Every day, that is. I just can't get going until later in the day. Maybe because I never was able to do any of my housework till after school hours when I was working? Maybe because I'm incredibly lazy? Maybe because last night I didn't finish my book until 5:00 A.M.??? Last night, after we ate, I did three loads of laundry, but I left the last one (small load of underwear & socks) in the washer overnight. Just got it dried and folded.
It's past 2:30 and so far, I have
* eaten breakfast
* done my 5 min exercise routine
* s2s (including washed hair & shaved legs!)
* gone to post office
* texted with daunt (doctor did tell duncle he has dementia)
* talked to ds and dgrands on the phone (dgd was very excited, just lost her first tooth!)
* folded one very small load of laundry and washed another pair of pants, navy, which I wanted to wash by themselves. One more load of laundry to go.
* eaten cheese and crackers
Dgrands will probably eat supper with us, so that means I have less than three hours before Nana-duty begins. Going to be a busy three/four days around here. I guess I'm just in rebellion and denial and wanting to rest before it all hits.
I need to do WHB, but I'm kinda thinking
* dgrands might help (dgd especially loves to dust, etc.) plus
* it might be best to wait until Thursday to do the den, dining room, and kitchen, to prep for party Friday. But kitchen needs mopping, and will I have time Thursday & Friday to get everything done? Sigh.

Re: Tuesday TO DO PWYC
I rested this afternoon after putting all except two in new to me planters.
I was stiff and achy after I sat down & had to get up and walk around the back yard to limber up.
I had to dust a bit I it was one thing I missed yesterday.
The house needs a good spiff again especially the kitchen and dining table.

Re: Tuesday TO DO PWYC
Got most of my list done. Still have to vacuum and dust the office in the morning while dh is out. And the balcony got put off until the morning as we are going through severe storms tonight. I'm glad I pulled in the cushions last night.
I did everything else before the house blessing and while doing that dh got my attention to say that Vermont has declared a state of emergency due to the flooding. I checked and large sections of the highway we need for Thursday are closed so I've cancelled the Vermont hotel and booked near Quebec City instead. Sigh... that means going around Montreal during rush hour but there's no avoiding that now. On Thursday we'll check the roads in Maine and if they are OK, we'll go through that way to our hotel in NB. If not, we won't. There are sufficient chargers for us on both routes. On the plus side, I can take my extra half cucumber and any milk leftover with us tomorrow since we won't be crossing the border the first night.
With our storm, I've confirmed the kitchen window is still leaking badly so have rigged up plastic cling wrap on the wall that feeds into a large container on the radiator. I keep the face cloths and towels there to wipe up dgs2 while eating so have one soaked face cloth.
Now I'm off to bed. I'm almost packed, at least all I can do for now. I'll go put the last of my Cokes in the fridge to cool down and then head to bed.
