Weathering Wednesday
It sure is hot these days! How are you dealing with the weather? I'm hoping for a cool down in the south east!

Re: Weathering Wednesday
Ddog insists on that late afternoon walk when it's so hot out. It's only 1/3 mile and I'm being whinny.
Another busy day here. I've walked her already, but w/o the fitbit for one of the 3 laps. I was up before seven.
I haven't mentioned that I put on a Libre3 CGM (continuous glucose monitor) yesterday on my arm. I read an article recently that wearing one can be useful for those with prediabetes. My A!C tested last month was at 5.7 which just hit the prediabetic range. and the doc noted a couple of years ago that I have insulin resistance. So I asked him about wearing one to help me work on my diet/exercise for awhile. I'm paying for it out of pocket. So I put it on yesterday and we'll see what's going on. So right now I need my breakfast because it's low, and I do feel it.
I'm getting a lot of steps in lately, so we'll see how I do when I don't, too.
On to breakfast and s2s. Today I am going to try for grocery again at lunch, and to drive through the bank and pick up my printed syllabus at the UPS store.

Re: Weathering Wednesday
A couple of nights ago dh and I went swimming at the public pool for the first time since the summer of 2019. These days you need to sign up online with all your info and you can prepay online as well. I found out last week that because we are signed up with the senior's center, that means we are "signed up online with the town" so that also means we are already signed up for swimming! Yay! Plus dh and I want to just pay cash for the few times we might go. We have already discussed that we should go to the senior's swim at 11 this morning because it's already a brutal day and the next few days are going to be awful as well. "Feels like" temps will be close to 40C, AKA 104 F with the humidity. These are the high range of a Canadian year, with some temps in February "feeling like" -40C with the wind chill.
Dh has gone to get gas for the riding mower and then he will be cutting the grass. He has already asked if I want to do some. We shared the job the last time it was done, and honestly I don't care. I will do it all if he asks me to. He's suffering already and it's just 9 a.m.
We have a water delivery coming today.

~~~~~waving Hello to all~~~~~
Twins - I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences with wearing the CGM. Good for you doing it!
Cathy - Swimming sounds like a wonderful way to be cool on these hot days. It the pool indoors or outside?
I have too much going on at the same time. I need to make an OMM list.
Re: Weathering Wednesday
I am better enough to not have to use the cane yea!
Spasms have stopped so glad for Ibuprofen, things are moving to where they need to be in my lower back yea!
I slept well double yea.
I have done my planning, journaling and qt.
Got dressed with shoes.
Ddog will have to get her exercise in the backyard again today.
I think of a chart think I have seen in a circle for tracking stuff.
I do good at doing the things but suck at tracking or logging them down. LOL!
Re: Weathering Wednesday
LadyM, it's easy to get used to and doesn't hurt or ache. I failed at the first one and need to try to get a replacement. Already I'm seeing that my blood sugar tends to run low and what I thought was a good breakfast probably needed carbs and fat. I usually eat 2 eggs as an omelet with shredded spinach mixed in, and a slice of cheese, along with a fruit and about .25 cup of full fat yogurt. And I have been starving an hour or two after that breakfast - today found that my cantaloupe and blueberries didn't have enough carbs. I try for "Always Hungry" ratios which are 50% of calories from fat, 25% protein and 25% carbs.
I'll move to H & Fitness for the more....
Painters are back today.
And I'm glad you're better, Nancy! And good for Cathy and dh for swimming to cool down, nice you can go.
Re: Weathering Wednesday
Morning
I've been to class and then stopped at our gym which is next to our exercise class and did two more miles on the tread mill. I can get more miles in less time than on my gazelle.
Came home and hung three more pictures in my office. Rounding round the bend in getting my office the way I like like it.
Still have some footprints to pick up. Drinking my second cup of coffee and once that is done, I'm plan on mopping my floors. Boy do they need it. Tonight I've been invited to play Bingo at the clubhouse by two of my friends. Never played there before, so I don't know how its done there, but I do know how to play. I do know I will need a bunch of single dollars so that means a trip to the bank this afternoon.
Harmony... I am reading the book, Never Alone, by the only woman who's ever won the series Alone. In case you're not familiar with it, 10 people with survival skills are dropped in different parts of the wilderness...this time the Arctic. They are only allowed to bring 10 items on a list and must see how long they can last before they 'Tap out" or call it quits. The thing that struck me about Woniya was her problem with very dry lips that began to peel on her. This had happened to her many times in the past as she usually lives in different areas without all the comforts of home. She said her lip problems were due to two things. One, dehydration and the second was stress. Said that when her body gets taxed over a period of time doing physically demanding jobs..for her it was building her "cabin", a shelter, which she had to cut trees and lash them together among other things....her lips are the place that shows her she is under physical stress. I immediately thought of you.
Nancy... so glad to hear you're feeling better!!!
Twins... I'll follow you over to H&F
Re: Weathering Wednesday
I am walking gingerly today.
I have the sprinkler going in the back yard.
This is the coolest day this week.
I am glad for that but they will be climbing later in the week.
The neighborhood cat has been busy got a mouse and left all but the head.
dgd is off on vacation and then church camp and one more thing after that the following week so I am off granny duty.
Dd has told me she would be over 2x a week but we both had stuff come up so that only happened one time.
I will say I am sort of glad after the workers have finished I am enjoying my space and time to regroup.
Re: Weathering Wednesday
The pool is outside. It's only open from July 1 to August 31. Because there is a heat warning today, swimming was free.
We are having corn on the cob, asparagus, bean salad and sliced meat with buns for supper.
Re: Weathering Wednesday
I have finished vacuuming and mopping my home.
Sitting down to drink some of my water and then it’s off to the bank. I hate going inside cause there is usually a very long line and only a teller or two….ugh!
Then I’ll come home and make my lunch and get dinner ready for Sweetie. I need to clean up and get ready to meet my friends around 5:30. I’m looking towards to it.
