I went back to bed till 8 when my Rx alarm went off. Took that and have been up since.
I talked with dsis a while, then walked ddog and vacuumed went to the basement and got fruit out for
the crock pot dish I want to do with an oat crumb topping. Did some stretching too.
Took my Ibp today so glad for that. I am still moving slow but not as gingerly as the other day so that is an improvement.
Have my steps in for this part of my day yea for over half done now without the stat bike!

Meals I have planned out and food is cooked & ready to prep

mopping will wait.
LR is vacuumed.
Had my sandwich for lunch.
I fetched the mail.
Showed a diff. neighbor the deck.
Going to get another rest break.

I do it b/c it is just me here and I need the exercise my tasks give me.
Skipping town today to do some catch up.
Got the tablecloth pattern cut for the round table.
Mixed up ch. salad for my dinner.
Got the crockpot going with a crumb crust cobbler in it on the deck yea!
More for fill the freezer project.

The crock pot crumb crust cobbler is done I brought it inside.
I had some in all reality it is tart but I like tart but if it were for a pot luck or some thing like that would need more sugar in the fruit part of it.
Watering in the shade of the tree in front. F. 93* and 16% humidity and feels hot outside here now.
I got the planner pages that were used from this month out and ready for Aug. set up.
I am watering now that it's shady.

Good morning-- afternoon -- to everyone!
Harmony, it does sound like you have it too... (((BIG HUGS))) I hope you don't get as sick as Mr. Harmony! Twins has a good suggestion -- check with doctor about the meds.

I'm just being EXTRA lazy, even for ME, today! DH has gone to eat lunch with the men he played football with, and I am doing NOTHING. I haven't s2s or anything.
DGD will be here to spend the night tonight, and then tomorrow we'll go to the Grand Ole Opry with both dgrands... then Sunday an early morning trip to hear ds and his bluegrass group sing at church about an hour away. Then the usual Sunday chores... and I suspect dgs will spend the night with us Sunday night. So I'm "resting up." Dh planned to do nothing today in preparation for the busy weekend, but then this guy called and said they were eating today, so he hated to be a no-show. DH isn't really "close" to any of them, but it's good for them to get together and especially since dh isn't playing golf anymore, it's about the only social contact he has outside of our family. I wish I had a group of friends who got together like this. I have NO social contact outside the family, except for you girls! I mean, we go to church every Sunday but we do not go to Sunday School, and we're in and out pretty quickly, so there's not much time for real conversation with anyone.

DGS has Confirmation Class beginning again Sunday, and the preacher still plans to take them on the overnight trip to church camp. DDIL told the preacher there was at least one person in our church whom she did NOT want dgs going with, and preacher again suggested ds, or dh and myself, be the chaperones. None of us want to do it and ddil says, "DGS doesn't have to go... it's not the end of the world if he doesn't go." I know he wants to go, but I kinda agree with dh -- this is something ds should step up and do.
If one of the girl's fathers would go, that would be just perfect though. We've been family friends for generations -- back to our great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, etc. He's a very involved father, so he MIGHT go... but I don't know. The questionable person doesn't even have a child in this group, so again... questionable.
DS maintains his stance that we will not think about it till plans are more definite. Right now, they have had a lot of trouble getting all four little girls and dgs all there on the same Sunday anyway... after taking a summer break, I don't see how on earth she will get them all in line for an overnight trip once school starts.

Nancy, again, WTG -- you just amaze me with all you're doing!

Likewise, Rose. I've been meaning to ask, how does the heat here compare to the Southwest? Do you have any new tricks for dealing with the humidity?

LadyM, is the humidity a big problem for y'all, or is it just HOT? You are another amazing person, with your discipline for being active and doing 15 minute bits every hour.

I certainly hope your dd has AC soon, Harriet!

I've tried to explain to dh that I don't have the bandwidth for it right now.

Men have trouble with that concept, don't they, Twins? It's like they want a decision or an answer NOW, and you just can't THINK anymore.

Glad to see y'all got your swim in, Cathy! Did you say this is an indoor or outdoor pool?

I guess I should s2s, at least "look" like I'm making some progress when dh gets home.

When I had covid, gargling with salt water was helpful for my sore throat and to cut the mucous. I made fresh glasses of salty water every morning for DH and myself and put it by our bathroom sinks. Every time I went to the bathroom I would gargle. I do think it was helpful and super easy to do.

Also being consistent about taking deep breaths to expand the lungs. Many times a day.

is the humidity a big problem for y'all, or is it just HOT?

I am used to our triple digit temps now, so it isn't a problem. Our humidity is running 60-70% during the daytime.
I would be super sad if our a/c quit working! I enjoy coming inside and cooling down to 80F.

Thankfully, shortly after I last posted, The Man arrived at dd43's house, discovered "gunk" was starting to clog a line and fixed that. Because he decided it was their AC company's fault for not realizing that could happen when they installed, he didn't charge, so hurray for that. Reputable company.

We did not grocery shop. HRH ordered a few things he needed instead. We'll make a better plan.

Humidity chat - checked and we are supposed to average 66 this month but have been averaging 74, which is what we are supposed to average next month.
Our temps remain high, but air quality concerns have eased. Dd43 tells me we were in "green" today for the first time in a long time. She says she had just about decided we were now living in "orange".

I went outdoors mid-day and didn't really feel like too much activity, but took photos because a few beds have reached maturity and look good. I want to document it, both because it could be short-lived this year and because I want the record for next year's decisions. I was just ahead of a shower, so that was ideal.

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨Ʒ Got a few zoomed-in shots of a black swallowtail butterfly (I think) who liked the salmon- or orange-colored flowers best. Athleticism and good memory seemed no problem - 'round and 'round the house we went, remembering the favorites!

Yesterday, HRH's brother told me my flowers "popped" when he drove toward the house. That made me feel happy.

Harmony, maybe you are just tired? Hmmm ... ..

Hot and humid here. And storms. And major hail. Our windows held, but the spline for one of the window screens is now flapping in the wind so I suspect we'll slow that screen pretty soon as it literally blows out. (The screens are pushed in by the spline from the outside so can only be repaired by someone hanging in a sling 22 floors up.) The noise was scary, especially since our windows are 55 years old.

The original had a lot of "oh sh&*" and me putting the phone down to close the window shown here and then again when I checked on the other window and saw the piece of spline waving around in the wind.

You can see the dollar store shower curtain hanging over the patio door because we still haven't got the blinds (or heard about that) and with the a/c off and it 86F real temp and 104F feels like, I've been blocking the sun from coming in those windows with shower curtains (and a picnic blanket over the living room door.)

Today was a complete loss. I was to drive dgs back to day camp after his long waited for pediatrician appointment. I got there for 11:15, his appointment was for 11 and they figured they'd be out at 11:30. The doc was with them for 1.5 hours. So we left at 12:45 and then I had to drive dsil home, then I had to eat some lunch myself, then I decided to pick up the onion I needed for dinner and just come home because I was too tired of being in the car. Good thing I did, I was home just 15 minutes before the storm hit. Cars are damaged in the parking lot but we park underground so Casper is fine.

The repeated sounds of the weather alerts going off (we've had three tornado warnings so far this evening) have made concentrating on anything too hard. Dh helped me cook up 2 kg of bacon and then we had grilled cheese, onion and bacon sandwiches for dinner with a salad. We cleaned up the kitchen together and as we are between storms for a couple of hours, I've got the windows open as it is only 68F outside at the moment and I wanted to air some of the grease smell out of the apartment.

So I'm exhausted from doing nothing all day.

I'm glad I have an electric car, because waiting all that time in it was comfortable with the a/c on but not burning any gas. I'm thinking a lot about climate change these days since our lives are so affected by the outcomes from it right now. Hot and humid is normal (perhaps not 104 feels-like but certainly close to 100), a thunder storm between 5 and 7 on days like this is completely normal as well. Huge hail (3" across) and tornado warnings are not normal. We've had more tornadoes in the past 4 years than in the 58 years I've lived here before that.

I'm still not clear what dd went through. She was on her way to get the kids from camp when I texted her to take cover immediately, hail was on its way. A friend was giving her a ride so she was fine but she had the convertible stroller/trailer that would shelter the kids but it is also too wide to easily get through doors so I couldn't figure out what would happen to them if there was a storm. Earlier this week, they ended up in pharmacy while waiting for the bus. But that was before she got the stroller for them. I just wish she'd get a da** car.

Got to go now, I can hear the wind picking up and the rain starting.

It’s just hot and humid everywhere, isn’t it? It’s midnight here, 76 degrees, 76 “feels like temp,” but it humidity is 97% and there’s not a cloud in sight.

I’ve played with dgd a lot tonight— cards, hiding Easter eggs (a favorite game of hers year-round.)
Also reconciled bank statement and — ugh — found $45+ errors.

Hail did sound rough, Kathryn. Maybe if your dd gets caught in storms often enough, she might reconsider buying a car? One can hope, right?

EDITING TO SAY — dh says that’s impossible— for us to have humidity that high and no rain. He thinks I’m crazy for believing the Internet. I’m just sharing what my weather app says. \o/ LOL. At any rate, it’s midnight and it’s pretty muggy outside.
