Friday FOCUS FAIRIES PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

The FOCUS Fairies are dropping a little focus dust for us all today - focus to finish what we've started, wrap up the week strong, or keep the focus long enough to earn an afternoon rest!

Here they come!

I've already been dusted with big-time FOCUS here, perhaps they came through in the night? I'm straightening up for dcleaning lady and recording what needs to happen today. I think dh will even be around, praying I can keep it all nice! I know he's a big help to me.

We are at temple tonight at 7:30. I'm making at least one loaf of challah today, and gefilte fish (literally, chopped fish in the food processor.) Reminds me I need to get fish out to thaw, too. Thinking ahead works, lol.

Twins - Thanks for the start and focus encouragement.

I tried to take some downtime yesterday afternoon but it not only didn't happen, but it showed me that I don't want to repeat the effort any time soon.

DD46 texted the kids a couple days ago about going out to eat with her last night. Then at the last moment DD46 postponed their meal until an unknown future date. I didn't have food prepared because I thought the kids were going out to eat. So DH and I decided to take the kids out to eat.

>>>skippable rant about eating food prepared by unknowns<<<<<
We tried a new-to-us restaurant last night. It had tasty food and we enjoyed the conversation while eating together. I'm glad we did it but there is a part of me that just does not see the point. It didn't save time, effort or money. I could have made better food in less time than it took to drive, sit in restaurant waiting, then drive home. The price was 10x what I could have made the same food (and better IMHO). We can afford the cost but it is more about the unknowns. I want to know who is making my food. I didn't know anyone working in this restaurant and can only hope the unknown people preparing my food are trustworthy. I know everything we eat can't be monitored but does that mean I should not try to lessen the number of potential weirdos preparing and handling my food? Why do I have this distrust of what is going on in some restaurant kitchens? Oh yeah.... the many stories I have heard. I might belong to a different century or culture.

With that rant over. Full transparency......we are going out to eat today but it will be food prepared by people I know and trust. I won't be feeling the need for a rant about that experience.

The youth are having an all nighter at church tonight. DS15 and a friend are going and looking forward to staying up all night. DD12 is opting out because she gets sensory overload from all the constant loud noise and high energy activities. The two kids are opposites. DS15 has a high energy level and thrives with being surrounded by people, noise and being constantly ON. DD12 treasures her downtime when she can be alone and can quietly do her favorite activities.

Hi!

I was up before 5. I've been to Costco for a cartload and it's all put away. My car kept insisting that a seatbelt needed to be put on. The water and bread didn't agree. I had mine on and I was the only person in the car.

There is almost no wind, so I am doing some burning. I started with cardboard and now there is a bunch of wood being burned.

Dh will be starting supper while I'm at knitting. Pork roast with boiled potatoes and (possibly) carrots.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Such a quiet morning here! Decleaning lady has done her magic and is heading out. Things look good! Dh was going to a funeral this am at 11 so came home after his breakfast Rotary meeting to hang out. I thought he was staying home to help me, lol. After the funeral, he'll go to Costco for me.

I have the bread maker going with challah, and fish nearly thawed. I went to the nearest grocery while dcleaning lady was here for a couple of things.

I'm setting timer at :15 before the hour for 45 min. I need to move sheets over and fold the load in the dryer, and figure out when to start the fish. And if I figure it out timing I might make the second challah today too.

I was working to BOTH but was elbow deep in chopped fish when the alarm went off. The fish is ready to bake when the challah comes out of the oven. I'm resting to TOTH, then will start second batch of challah and clean up kitchen. Somehow I manage to get almost everything in the kitchen dirty right after the dcleaning lady left.

Twins - BWTG on being prepared for such a big crowd in your home. You make it look easy, although I know it is not easy.

I have prepared 3 dishes to have in the ready-to-eat stash. Spaghetti & meat sauce, cheeseburgers, and a tray of roasted vegetables. The roasted vegetables are almost gone so they won't make it to leftover status. I have 1/2 gallon of chopped tomatoes thawing that will be turned into salsa later today.

forgot to hit submit.....much later

Exercise minutes have been accomplished. It would be easy to talk myself out of going to the gym, but I am always happy after I do it.

On the way home we stopped by local BBQ place that is only open on Friday's and brought several meals home with us.

I walked around the loop with ddog, did not do the other block as I had errands and knew I could finish getting my steps in doing that.
At lunch I went in ordered it to go set down my beverage a refill cup heard a gal with a croupy sounding cough so I moved
where I put my soda while I used the ladies room.
Got food and some things to try on.
All the stuff is unloaded and food is put away.

I stopped by a rummage sale also got a few items a blue painted basket to change things up for fall here,
a purse cover with positive sayings & words that have magnets that hold it on & will work on mine, a sketch book and it was fun.
Also a biege vase.

Good news the jeans fit.
I found the shoes too.
Sports bra not so much.

I found the calendar was still on Aug. this week. LOL!
Did some dusting & some watering.
I had a really good day today. I like the break from my regular routines at home.

I spent the afternoon putting up all types of basil things. I waited too long before pulling the basil for processing but at least we had mild basil leaves all summer long. The other day I made strawberry basil ice tea just for drinking. Today I made up ice cubes filled with sliced basil and olive oil that are now in the freezer. I also made vegan (with nutritional yeast) pesto for dd older that I will freeze once the ice cube trays are empty again. I made a nut free version with parmesan for when dd younger is in town.

I also cleaned out the basement freezer.
counters are clean
the dw is on
I have a few dishes in the sink that I will do just to get it over with.
