Re: Successful Sunday!
Hi!
I have a long "list" of stuff in my head. Time to write down the menu and get to it.
Cranberry sauce needs to be made. That includes taking the bag of cranberries out of the freezer.
Carrots and potatoes need to be par boiled. I think I shocked both dh and myself by changing from scalloped potatoes to adding potatoes to the sheet pan with the carrots and turkey. I changed my mind because I didn't feel like having to go get cheese for the scalloped potatoes. Found out last night that dh's mom uses slices of cheese for her scalloped potatoes. No thank you.
We are having pieces of turkey. There are 3 thighs and 2 drumsticks defrosting in the fridge.
There will be a rutabaga (turnip) getting boiled and then mashed with butter. There will also be gravy and stuffing. There will NOT be green bean casserole.
Dh ate the entire (small) apple pie already, thankfully there is a Costco sized pumpkin pie waiting in the fridge out in the garage. There is also apple cider out there.
Hmmm... that seems very doable. Unfortunately there are some dishes that need to be done to clean the kitchen before I start. I just sat here with a hot tea and some rice pudding to get my day started. Time to get started.
Dh will be watching a football game that starts early this morning. Forgot to mention that the Toronto Argonaut's (CFL) celebrated their 150th anniversary this past Friday. Wow!
Update... cranberry sauce is done. I will adjust it later if needed.

Re: Successful Sunday!
Cathy - Thanks for the start today. Your Thanksgiving menu looks amazing! I am dreaming about the tantalizing smells coming from your kitchen.
It is a normal Sunday here. Worship with church family. Rest/relax. Evening worship. The only extras are doing communion prep/cleanup and DH has a board meeting after church tonight.
We have an abundance of ready-to-eat food available. I'll cook some chicken nuggets and waffle fries in the air fryer to add something else for lunch.

Re: Successful Sunday!
I'm alone on the sunny closed in porch here at dfriends and enjoying the quiet and sunshine so much. Friends are a talkative couple and I just get overwhelmed at times. Yesterday we went to an art festival in the sunshine and watched the AL game - they are big AL fans. Today she is going to a book club - I begged off since I haven't read the book, and dh and her dh are going for a walk/hike with a group. Given how busy/noisy it feels here the solitude is good for me.
Do you ever visit someone who just can't leave you alone? What kind of bagel with breakfast? (from both, at different times - answer, I don't care) Toasted or not? Juice? Scrambled eggs? Why both nondairy creamer and milk in coffee? Do you need a pillow behind your back on the couch? Do you need a coaster? Did you sleep well?

Re: Successful Sunday!
Last night dd younger made a lovely dinner and we ended up watching Murders in the building - Mom was here all afternoon and well into the evening. It's shocking - she sat on my couch watching TV. Amazing.
Boy is dd younger really good with my d mom. it's amazing! I always thought dd could be a teacher as she seems to know how to meet everyones needs and knows how to work at their level. She was a wonderful sailing teacher.
Time to start with trash - and then dailies for animals

Re: Successful Sunday!
Dh isn't thrilled with the game. He's wondering "Why did they have 2 teams fly over there and WHY are they playing at this time of the day?" He's watching, but he's not happy about it...
Tomorrow is the actual holiday, but a lot of people are eating the feast today. Numerous friends have posted on FBook regarding weather and menus and "turkey or ham or ?".
I've got the dishwasher going. Dh is currently in the kitchen having a little something so he has more room later.

Re: Successful Sunday!
Good afternoon! Happy Sunday! I will either keep this short or cut this short — I can’t be late to visit my DM; she falls right back asleep after eating lunch. Of course, some weeks, lunch comes at 1, and other weeks, it comes at 2.
Dfriend had a lovely 50th birthday. Her husband’s work was done (accountant — end of the fiscal year), so he could celebrate, too. It was a long evening, though. Our other friend was parked behind me in the driveway, and while I was tired, I was loath to make her leave.
And there goes the timer. Happy Thanksgiving if I don’t see you, Cathy (and Kathryn)!

Re: Successful Sunday!
Happy Thanksgiving to those that are celebrating this weekend.
I was up on time. Had to clear off my desk before I could do my qt stuff.
Then working on a paper sort and the other work spaces in there got attn.
it looks better I knew I had to deal with that today and am happy with my progress.
Considering making ahead pizzas for later as I have the stuff on hand for that.
It will be a good change of pace for me.
Need to get in the shower & dressed before we walk.
My family started a church way back when and they are having a 150 ann. of that starting.
My great great grandfather donated land for it to be in that small town across the country from me.
It is a small church but still being here this many years later is a success.
My cousin on the pastor the are having, ribs my cousins smoked from their cattle and a potluck after service.

Re: Successful Sunday!
Dh is asleep on the bed. Football game is on tv in the living room.
Oven has a large tray with turkey, carrots and potatoes.
Stovetop is full! One pot with cranberry sauce is cooling down. One pot has turnips being boiled. One large pot for the stove top stuffing. One pot waiting for instant mashed potatoes.
Last pot is waiting for the gravy.
I had a long, hot shower. I feel great, as well as just a bit lazy.
Dh brought in the pumpkin pie earlier. There is a can of whipped cream in the fridge.
All 3 cats are curled up sleeping on various soft locations.
Sky is overcast and it's windy.
Twenty minutes until the turkey should be ready. Maybe if I did some dishes now, I won't be looking at them in the morning. I know I won't be able to move after supper.
