Well, I could use some horse meds too... definitely not thriving here.
Everything was just FINE, until I called to congratulate dgrands on good report card. I was lying down and complaining with sore throat when ds called.
It never fails, when we call ds or ddil, it seems we call at the wrong time. They are eating, or ds is in the middle of something on his computer (he is working on a history of our high school football team), or someone is sleeping, or SOMETHING. Y'all know, you have heard me say so many times -- ds is really a wonderful son... but I hate to be the one who calls HIM. Of course, when he calls over here, he will happily talk for an hour or more.
It would have still been just FINE, if I had only talked to dgrands, but dh wanted me to find out (1) when/what kind of cake ds wanted for his birthday and (2) for certain is ddil not going to next home football game.
My goodness.
After that was settled and we got off the phone with him, then dh calls dbil to get the extra ticket to sell.
Well... that conversation led to info that dniece and dnephew will be coming to this same game, and past experience makes us fear dnephew will come on Friday night, while we are all there. Dnephew will rightly think he has access to the second bed and bathroom, and ds will be beyond aggravated.

If dnephew does NOT go, ds will figure better to ask forgiveness than permission, and he will sleep on dbil's bed and use his bathroom, and we will not have to share.
And of course, we won't know for sure until at least next Thursday, when we celebrate ds' birthday. SIGH. BIG HUGE SIGH. And ds will be even MORE aggravated if he thinks we withheld any of this information from him.
The thing is, this is one of only two games ds will get to see. And dh wants so badly for him to go with us. So dh definitely doesn't want to do anything to cause ds to back out at this point.
UGH.
Otherwise, I have done nothing today except go to book fair with dgd. That was fine; she only wanted two books, and I had to encourage her to look for the second one.
My throat hurts, and now I'm upset about this ballgame situation. (It's the weekend of the 20-21, so nothing will be settled for 8 days.)
I'm from the era of sit in the hall and wait for a tornado drill... and sometimes go outside for fire drills. And of course, after I started teaching, we had to have active shooter drills. Sometimes the local police would bring the drug dog in to walk around random classrooms. There was only once that I was aware of a real threat being made at school, and I did notify principal. Nothing came of it. When ds was in school (and I was teaching) we had a principal who made it his mission to stop drug activity, and there was a huge big deal made about that. He had a boy arrested in the lunchroom in front of everyone, and he brought in an undercover agent who made a few more arrests. But no one ever felt threatened by any of that, except the ones who were dealing drugs.
So glad you are feeling better,
Rose!!!
And lots of good wishes that (((
Cathy))) will soon be past this injury and feel better too!!!
