Thinking Thursday

Post by Nancy »

What are you thinking of doing today?
Ddog got me up at 2:30 barking at some thing  so I am thinking nap later today.
I did my qt planning and have laundry going now.
Decluttered off the other dresser in the butterfly room.
I have stuff on the table to deal with today.
Brought in the squash to cook up as we had snow in the high country and first frost in our forecast so I need to do a few things
like drain hoses bring in the tomatoes and one other plant.
Etc.
More coffee time to change up the laundry.

Compost, garbage and recycling are at the end of the driveway. It's been raining since I woke up.

No idea of what's for supper. We have had lots of beef this week, I think it's time for some chicken.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

I've walked the dog, cleaned myself up, and mostly cleaned up for dcleaning lady later. Our sheets are in the dryer. I'll defer until two weeks from now the guest bedroom bed and have sheets washed by then. And I'm having my brunch finally.

Dcleaning lady is to be here around 1 p.m. and I'll leave about 1:40 for workout. We're having dinner out again - a friend/client who is in town, so that will be enjoyable. And it's a super nice place too. I'll need to clean up a little after my workout.

I am thankful for what I thought might be an emergency turned out to be a forgetful DH. We were getting set up on side-by-side treadmills when DH casually ask me "Do you know what my blood sugar was this morning?" I said "No" and he responded "It was 22" I asked if he ate anything, and he didn't. ARGH!! I did have some doubt that it really was 22 because he was talking and seemed normal. HOWever that is a life-threatening blood sugar reading so I couldn't ignore the possibility. I went next door and bought the first thing I saw - a honey bun and had DH eat half of it to get some quick sugar into him. Fast forward and an hour later - we are home and check his Bsugar # and it was 88 (good). I've got some protein in him to sustain his sugar level and now I have time to exhale.

What did I learn from this experience? I need to be better prepared. DH is getting more forgetful. I don't know if it is just so much going on in our life, if he has early stage of dementia, low blood sugar episodes, or what. I just added a 3x5 card to ask DH what his bsugar is and to make sure he eats something before we go to the gym.

Homeschool is in progress.

I am making BBQ country style pork ribs and baked potatoes for tonight. Lunch is tilapia, Spanish rice, roasted green beans and peppers.

Kathryn - CONGRATULATIONS on your DS marriage. What a wonderful life moment to experience.

Yesterday, dh had his feeding tube removed!!! 10 months later and it's gone! yay!!!!

dd had a lovely time with d mom. I picked up mom for to have lunch here and then she spent the day with dd younger.
Mom is now not going back until a couple days after Thanksgiving. I am definitely going to have to change how I do things bc up until now nothing has been done. I have been treading water as I have been keeping mom busy the last month but I can't keep up with it. Mom still needs to have us take care of her meds as when she messes up her meds, she has her dementia show up big time; otherwise she is really great (mostly).

I have a project the next month to do with d mom. My mom, when we were young, painted a nativity scene on our front window. Yesterday dd got water color paints with d mom and I have a stained glass nativity coloring book that we will use as a template for my and dh's front window in the dining room. She stopped painting a couple years after d dad died and painting was her whole life. I hope this is a good thing for her.

alrighty time to call mom and make sure she took her meds.

LadyM, is your dh wearing the continuous monitoring device? Toward the end of the two week period, dh's readings get wonky. Sometimes low - not 22 low. So could be monitor. And surely he would have felt it if really that low?

BS being low or high can make the thought process wonky from my experience.
I have clean sheets on the bed others are in the washer.
Backyard hose is drained rolled up and put away, I brought in plants to save from frost.
Truck still needs hosed off will wash it one last time before I drain and roll up the other hose.
It is brisk outside with some lite wind. 40*F.
Cleaned off my tall desk.

Next up clean squash to cook.
