I have walked and watered grass. Saw some critters on my walk today more info. in H & F thread.
Did some on my QT prayer list.
Journaling is next up for me. x
Next up bfast & hand watering in the back weeded on the side yard too. x
a bit of a cold still so another pj day might be in order.

Nancy, thank you for opening the village. This sunny weather is wearing me out. I feel like I don't want to go anywhere anymore. I audibly groaned last night when dh reminded me that we're going out again this p.m. Will be another tired Monday morning. We're seeing a Beatles tribute band with dneighbors and it will be fun, but I am just so tired these days.

Yesterday was a long day. I got to the shower on time, thankfully, and got to sit by dcousin. But she had forgotten to bring insulin for a shot and at the end, her bs went sky high - over 350. So I left to take her home as it was breaking up, and stayed at her house long enough to feel that she was okay. Her bs hadn't come down enough really, but it was nearly two and I somehow thought the party at the river was at noon and felt bad I had missed it. Anyway, her bs was fine - checked in with her later. Got to river, food was at five, band at six p.m. so hadn't missed it. Temp was nearly 100 going over there, but a little cooler in river gorge, then there was a little rain and wind and things cooled off a bit. I stayed for food and until the band took the first break.

Why can't we have quiet weekends? Why is it go go go all weekend? I l love going to the river with dfriends - yesterday it was just me and V for awhile and we had time to sit in the cool and talk - but I fear for our life when dh isn't working M-F. I don't want to go go go all through my retirement years!

Anyway, today "we" need to get together the stuff we need for our travel reimbursements from travel insurance. He hasn't been able to get it together to do himself, so now it becomes my problem too.

No sunny Sunday here in central Alberta this morning We might get some sun this afternoon, or we might get a thunderstorm. Mother Nature hasn't decided yet. Tomorrow is expected to be much the same. Tuesday and after should be sunny and hot again.

Today is visit dMum day, so that takes a big piece out of the afternoon. There's baseball game on this afternoon (dMum follows the Toronto Blue Jays), so we may do more baseball watching than visiting

I really should get a few things done before I head out. First up:

- put away clean dishes
- wash dirty dishes
- flip laundry
- sew a couple of cat pads

We are sunny with triple digits for 3 more days then Wednesday we get some rain that will drop us into the 90's. It will be a welcome break for a few days. August is our hottest month of the year, so we haven't got to the hot month yet.

We attended early traditional church service this morning. That service is for those who enjoy hymnals being used, small choir and only piano accompany the songs. I did enjoy it and I love every moment of the experience of worshiping with church family.

We are meeting DGS29 and his family for lunch today at a local restaurant. He requested to spend the day with us but I'm not ready to commit to that....yet. I am not ready to invite DGS29, pregnant SO and his 7 kids into our home until I know it is safe to do so. I realize that sounds horrible for a Nana to say about a grandchild. My first priority is to protect DD13 and DS15. If and when DGS29 shows that he is safe to have around them then I will become more receptive. Fool me dozens of times, ghost me, disappear for a decade and I will eventually become wary.

I was camera person as DS15 and friend unloaded the newly purchased used rear end out of the bed of his pickup. DS15 used a heavy chain and the bucket on the front of a tractor to lift and move it. I keep reminding myself that DS15 is learning an immense amount with these projects he tackles. According to Mr 15 year old no experience is needed to replace the rear end on a diesel pickup - just need willingness to work hard, ask lots of questions and have an abundance of get-er-done optimism.
Time will tell.

Working in the kitchen, watch set to the side, I misread the clock and thought I had time before local Morning Worship. Sigh. HRH came through and pointed out to me that I must be forgetting, but it was nearly over. Oops. We can go back to see the posted video, but HRH never enjoys that much - he says he's always more interested in their live services.

I had stayed outside in the relative cool of the morning too long this morning trying to get some water to parching plants. Even now thinking of some I missed. Sigh. Really got hot out there and I guess I was "off my timing" for MDCard when I got back in.

Hope it's a good game, bittersweet, with time for visiting, too.

Hoping Kathryn and Ken had a meaningful time as they provided worship music.

Good job monitoring cousin's bs and staying with her a while, Twins'. I would not be happy with go-go-go. Here, we are resting on the laurels of a "date lunch" yesterday. But maybe HRH will feel more like outings later, especially when weather breaks in fall.

Thinking of LadyM and dh at lunchtime today. Happy/difficult. I hope it is mostly a good day.

We think of August as our hottest month as well. Wondering. With 2 100-degree days already under our belts by end of July, which will be an almost unheard-of pattern, what will the upcoming month then hold ... .. Many people will need to be checked on, I would think. Animals/pets kept in thoughts. Thinking of the panicked raccoons who (I believe desperately) ripped up my plants because they smelled water/moisture. Nancy may have a good idea of a bucket of water away from house.

Hi!

I ended up not doing much other than reading yesterday. Have any of you read "In cold blood"? It's been on a shelf in my library for many years, but I hadn't read it before. My goodness. I have less than 10 pages to go until it's finished. Unfortunately my copy is very old and smells musty. I told dh that the book was so "good" although the subject matter was not (true crime) that I just wanted to get it finished. Mostly because the book smells so nasty. For whatever reason, I had it amongst my fiction books, so I need to find it a new home when I am finished.

Supper tonight should be all done on the BBQ, but we are expecting a thunderstorm.

Because we are north of the border, the huge story from last night was only found on Youtube. Someone I follow on FBook got a temporary closure last night due to their comment, which was actually offering thoughts and prayers.

Neighbor commented that the drive way was darker wondered if I'd treated it. NOPE.
Dang politician other pres.O, waste water ideas no driveway washing -
I did it last night and this morning it is better and really needed it.
So I am going to do it a bit more not as often but needed it.

Put on my gloves and did the side yard weeding & watered a bit it was in the shade and still cool.
I am wondering about the small rose to dig out by the gate maybe today maybe not.

Got some seeds in the can to go out from the maple tree to go in trash pick up this week.
5 gal of weeds are gone dead ones by the edge of the bed on the west side glad for that progress wa-hoo!

Got the sweeping done now yea!
Might mop on another day.
Had lunch.
Did another couple of cards added two more to the done pile yea!
One more task completed a letter is ready to go to my pen pal.

Now that I've said it's not sunny here, what does Mother Nature do? Uh huh... she blows away the clouds, and now we have sunshine That last round took much less time than I thought it would. Of course, then I got sidetracked chatting with DS for a while.Now I need to get back on track or nothing will get done before I have to head over to visit dMum.

What a shocking news story last night!! While I'm no great fan of either candidate (irrelevant since I don't vote in American elections), that was too close for comfort!

- clean bathroom
- gather up recycling
- check my stationery stash for school supplies for dgrandmonsters
- slice strawberries and bag cherries for dMum

I'd best get moving here....

Church went well, thanks for the good thoughts, Harriet. I really needed the first piece set lower but I did get dh to slow it down which gave me more time to breathe to get the high notes. Second piece was great.

That's the last week I'll be there with the minister. I feel badly about his leaving but he really isn't well suited to be a minister, he's a manager and seems to lack the heart for the job. It isn't intuitive with him, for instance he asked what were the outcomes he should be working towards when making a phone call to visitors who request a call from the minister. I'm not sure how someone close to my age who headed into studying for ministry 10 years ago, could not know that there are no outcomes planned beyond saying hello and thank you for coming to our service, then letting the visitor lead the conversation to why they requested a call. Five or six university degrees look good on paper but don't necessarily translate into people smarts.

Me, on the other hand, not one university degree but strangers stop me in grocery stores to pour out their troubles. I just have that sort of aura; dh has got used to it after all these decades when I come out later than he expected and then tell him all that someone had said to me while I was in the lineup to pay.

After church I suggested lunch at the diner he usually goes to with ds and dgs. We had his regular server and she was surprised to see dh there with someone else! We sat out on the patio and it was lovely. It is hot and getting hotter and more humid (another heat advisory for us today) but there was a light breeze and we were in shade.

I'm ready for a well deserved nap now but have one thing to do first.

Then I need to start packing and loading the car. Ds called and needs me for 2 hours on Tuesday so that will cut into my day. Tomorrow is broken up a bit by "no water" for a building wide repair for 3 hours in the middle of the day so I'm heading out to the stores for that time.

(((Twins))) I fully understand your frustration with busy-ness. And the heat and beautiful weather. Too much of a good thing is not always a good thing.

Thank you, Kathryn. I feel like there's an unhappiness cloud over my head right now. Some of it is still the wrist, healing, can't lift, anxiety over it being whole again. Dh wants us to do all these things together, and doesn't get that it's okay for married people to go alone at times. And worried about retirement for him and what it means to my happiness. I probably need to find a therapist, mine has retired.

We planned a week at the beach at the end of August and found it fell smack against what would be his last "incentive" trip. He finally realized that I might not do well with back to back trips (literally, home on Saturday, leaving again Sunday) and we just decided not to go, thankfully.

Finally, we took care of filing the claim for travel insurance for the very expensive flight home from Amsterdam in April when I fell. Dh spent so much time on the phone on this when we got home and I thought he had it organized. I think he was going to fill out a paper form and send by mail? He had multiple copies of documents and the ones he needed and didn't need we all jumbled up in a file. The two of us finally pulled out the four documents that I needed to upload - and I scanned and uploaded as they were identified. What a jumble of papers he had! I ended up with each stack together and labeled with a post it tab at the side, and I discarded all the duplicates. I put all the scanned documents that were uploaded in a Dropbox folder. I am amazed at his lack of organization sometimes. (Like doing out tax return when we have multiples of tax documents because he's copied or printed at his office when we also have a copy at home, or kept multiple copies of donation receipts.

Oh, and the list of OMM last week of things I hoped to make happen - almost none of those were done. I have another genealogy institute beginning a week from tomorrow, so this week needs to be more productive. The comments/questions for the article aren't getting done today, and should be my priority tomorrow, when I have nothing out of the house.

I may nap a little, then I need to s2s to go out tonight. So much sweating yesterday.
