LadyM, and
Nancy, I understand your concerns... I just don't know how this will go. DS will be able to go with us to several games. I think I will be trying it at least once on my own with the kids. I mean, college kids do this drive all the time. Millions of people do this drive all the time. I think dgrands will help keep me awake... and being in charge of the radio station myself may help... and I can call DS and talk to him if he is not with us... I just feel like I have to at least give it a try, rather than just saying, "I can't do it." I used to hate to drive even to Big City, the halfway point, with dh, or from there on to College Town. BUT then that Sunday afternoon with dmom, when I took her to the open house/designer show house (for Mother's Day) -- this was on a Sunday, when I normally have to have a LONG nap because of early wake-up time, and we made it just fine with me driving all the way. We never stopped talking, and I did fine. That was about 90 minutes each way, which all together equals just a little less than the College Town drive. I have always done half the driving when with dh, so it's not like I can't do it at all. I also will be the one setting the departure time, meaning I can sleep later before we leave -- if I need to. That might make the trip longer, with traffic worse in Big City, but
But dgrands know, we're NOT going to make every game. I told them tonight, the first FIVE games are all at home. There is no way I'm going five weeks in a row. I was already complaining about this before dh passed away. I don't want to be checking dgrands out of school five Fridays in a row. DS and DGS will want to see high school games on Friday nights, anyway, so if DS is able to go to College Town with us, we may make the trip all in one day. I would NEVER
NEVER NEVER try that on my own.
DS says if I should have car trouble or something, that's why I have AAA... just call them. In all these years with dh, there has only been one occasion that we needed to call them. It would still make me nervous/still DOES make me nervous... but if dniece can do it on her own at 18... surely I can manage it occasionally.
DBIL and his girlfriend will be going, but they stay on Saturday nights after the game, and I don't want to infringe on their weekends.
It's scary, but my whole life is kinda scary right now. I can always try Five Hour Energy, also, although I have tried it before and was not impressed. I think it was just kinda boring for me to be driving dh. He was usually reading the paper or listening to something I didn't care about on the phone.
I might buy myself a tazer. Just saw a post on a FB page for people who have lost a spouse. Lady was scared in her home alone and bought a tazer on A-river. Hmmm...
So. The funeral service, including prep for the meal and clean up after the meal, took my day from about 11:30 till almost 4:00. Whew. I was sooo hot and tired afterwards.
Then I went to the drug store, bank, grocery store, and D*llar G*neral. DG had only two things I wanted. Wish I had gone to Wmart anyway, despite the mess of remodeling they are having right now.
Then I went to eat supper with DS and dgrands.
Home, second/last load of laundry is ready to hang to dry, I have done my 15 minutes Walk away the pounds, and I've talked to dbro -- reporting on the funeral. Also finished setting up my planner for this week, refilled med dispensers, and refilled shampoo/body wash bottles. (I buy a large jug -- half gallon -- and fill smaller bottles as needed. It is cheaper that way. I use C*lifornia B*by Super Sensitive, recommended by dermatologist, and no longer available anywhere around here.)
I don't have any real plans for tomorrow. WHB should be the plan, but we will see...
Hey — editing — I just remembered — I drove to Vanderbilt and back, after a ballgame, in one day last year with dgs — and we made it fine. Maybe I can do this. That was 286 miles, round trip… College Town is 199, one way.
Right now, ds is free for 5 of the 8 games. That will change, but maybe he’ll be able to go to some of them.
