Sunny Summer Sunday

I decided to name today's topic "Sunny Summer Sunday" because it's the last time this year that we'll be able to do that. Next Sunday at 6:43am, MDT, the autumn equinox occurs.

This has been rather a busy weekend here - frantically trying to get things done, while trying to figure out how to say to DBro ad Dsil that we don't have people over because the condition of the house is so atrocious. I honestly could deal with most of it.. except the front entry (we've never been able to get the smell of dog pee out of it from when Super Storm the Wonder Dog wasn't housebroken. That was a long, slow process because of the odd schedules of the three of us making it so there were sometimes several hours between times she was let out. The big problem is that he urine soaked into he linoleum tiles, which have mostly come off now, and the "sticky stuff" that was used back in the 60's has absorbed it. We've tried lots of different products, but nothing seems to have worked.

Anyways... I can't change that between now and Thursday - the whole floor covering will need to be replaced, so I might as well work on some things that I can deal with today. I'm going to finish my coffee and get myself moving.

While the three batches of cookies are baking, I'll work on some other things:

- wash living room floor
- dust master bedroom furniture
- put/throw away 10 things from the dining room table

Thanks for the start BSweet! My thoughts were close to yours earlier when I was trying to come up with a title and I thought about "Final summer Sunday" LOL!! ...

BSweet, have you tried "Odoban"? I got a jug at Home Depot. I also use "Nature's Miracle" from Walmart for the smell of cat pee when needed. I don't know if there is a dog one, but take a look in the dog section of the pet food area. Regular vinegar for the smell of human pee. I alternate the three of these in the mop water. Yesterday it was NM, thanks to one of the cats. Today will be Odoban, because I need to mop and I like to try to get the house stink free on Sundays. I also open windows on windy days to clear the air.

Good Morning!

Twins - I am so very happy for you. CONGRATULATIONS!

We are having a slow-paced morning because we are not attending church.

I woke up with a plan for window treatment which I immediately implemented. It was super simple using curtains that I had in a storage tub. I am pleased with how it turned out and the fact that it was so simple to accomplish.

Bittersweet - I would not explain to others why you are not entertaining guests in your home at this time. Focus on the fact that you are welcoming them into your lives. They are not coming to be with your home, but they are coming to be with YOU. Share with them experiences and the joy of just being together. Let them experience being with you at your favorite place to eat. Take them sightseeing in your area, especially if there is a vehicle that will allow everyone to all be together and talk. (((Hugs))) and encouragement for whatever you decide to do.

Morning girls…

It’s sunny here but I don’t know for how long as the clouds are beginning to gather.

My home is in good shape and morning routines done, so I think I might do some reading.

Yesterday I moved all my plants and furniture to the far side of the lania. Tomorrow the guys are scheduled to start installing our remote storm screens. They will be a huge help should topical or hurricanes show up.

Late yesterday we went over to my grandsons home to celebrate his 3rd birthday. The presents we brought were an hit. Transformers and a truck and track kept everyone busy for quite a while.

I woke in the middle of the night…4:00… and could t get back to sleep so at 4:40 I got up and made myself a cup of coffee. Went back to bed and read till 7:30 and then snoozed a bit. I finally got up at 8:15. I was thinking of Nancy and my other friend who start their days early. I did that for more days than I can remember.

When my son was small I was up at 5:15 getting my then husband ready for work, and once I got my P&P box put together would have most of my daily work done by 8:30. When I went back to the university my first class was at 8 so I had to be up early, and once I began teaching my morning started at 4:30am

The best part of being retired is I can stay up till 2am in the morning if I want to, and every night before I go to bed, I say to Sweetie, or should I say sing… I do t have to go to school tomorrow

Sending encouragement your way, bittersweet! Those ideas from Cathy sound very smart. I have found that even the "Febreeze" spray, which is marketed for odors in textiles (carpet, upholstery) does have at least a little effect on somewhat porous surfaces as well - linoleum, rubbery flooring, Baking cookies as you are already doing is a big "yes" for having a pleasing aroma, as is warming spices/fruits in a saucepan on the stovetop.

Guests are worrying themselves - wondering if you will think they have aged gracefully at all, wondering if they look okay, etc. You are a delightful person and you cannot hide that from us - we know it. Guests who come to see you are very lucky, indeed.

I am ready for the autumn equinox bc I am tired of the high 80's we have had in Chicago area (northern Illinois) I am ready for a bit of crunchy leaves, no weeding, and starting afresh in the garden this spring.

I understand about the house - when Ian hit Naples two years ago, dd's dog couldn't get out - dd had a fake grass patch on the balcony but the hurricane terrified him. It was hard on that patio and once in awhile her rug.
I agree with d harriet - your guests want to see you. Do you think you can remove the vinyl and replace it.

I spent the day with dh's d family - it was lovely - this late summer memory is now in place! kids playing, d sis in law celebrated, family together!

I need to get back into the box! I do this every year once I realize that yard work kind of took over.

I haven't done anything this morning - watered the veg garden and that's it.
we haven't had rain since August 27th and we did have rain much before that either.
Supposedly we won't have rain for a couple weeks.

Tomorrow dd younger is helping put in the hydrangeas in the new hydrangea room. fingers crossed
today I have swish and swipe adventures
we have dinner reservations and I am not thrilled to go out bc I ate too much yesterday
corn stalks are going to be put up.
